I actually worked for a theater for a while, building sets and props. Trust me, making something look crappy is worse than making it look good.

The executor ( Esb-Rotj)super star destroyer isn't the only super star destroyer out there. It was only shown in ESB to show that the empire was much more superior than we thought in ANH as they had more than enough power when the Death Star was gone to keep the galaxies under control.

I hope it stays the only one in the new canon. But was it really under construction by A New Hope? I thought you see it being built in the end of Empire.

It appeared fully constructed at the beginning of Empire which took place weeks after Hope. Because of the resource drain of constructing the Death Star, most other Imperial projects were slower to come about, including the Executor-class and others.

one thing i realized looking at detalied pictures of the model, is that the core section isn't actually darker. it's just because of the amount of greebles and their shadows, that it makes overall darker, but it's painted in the same grey... that or the paint faded over time.
