I always ditched the AoE damage reduction from the Stand Fast tree, and only used two of the three points in Improved Position Secured for my HW build. This allowed me to take all four points in the Fuel Canisters box and still have points for Riddle Armor, RA cooldown, and a point or two in You'll Regret That. Great guide regardless.

It has always been a toss up for me between "You'll Regret That" and "The AOE Damage Reduction." I personally have found that the AOE damage reduction offers more in terms of PVE than "You'll Regret That." The problem lies with the soft cap at 10000 armor. You'll Regret That will put you way over so you get diminishing returns. Riddle Armor on the other hand is nice. Yet typically I find PVE to be more of a marathon than a sprint. If you do frequent group content; Riddle Armor is nice. If you do a lot of solo content like I do; I find myself not needing it.

You can reduce your dot & improved position secured to obtain riddle armor. Also armor shredder is extremely useful in pve content for obvious reasons. (Jugg set provides the reduced cooldown and it's very much a pve ability) Lethal beam(You obtain two heavy weapon attacks, which have independent cds and with a good setup you're looking at 10k - 12k dmg between those two) And lastly 1 point in You'll regret that. Since so many enemies in pve heroic content root or snare you. Since you your innate armor is already so high you are going to be pretty tanky. Without needing to max both of those branches out. I also think you're missing out by not having killing spree. (25% for your base weapon dmg to random enemies, your kill streak will constantly be going up in pve content)
@avt727-13 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, I appreciate the input. I agree with you on pretty much everything you've said here. I still do not think that you'll regret that is needed for most PVE content; unless you want to free up 2 points from your entertainer buff. I have tried it in several of my older builds and have yet to see its value in PVE. Killing spree is also 100% an option; but if you are new to the class, and your goal is staying alive, I really don't think you need to worry about it. You can easily output a consistent 4-5k dps on a single target with this build. That should be plenty for most PVE group or solo content. The goal behind this build is to be a consistent source of DPS; while also remaining very tanky. It relies on the frontman jewelry and much cheaper exotics. Thus I view it to be more of a "starter" commando build. At some point (hopefully in the near future) I plan on doing a build video more suited to a heavy DPS Juggernaut build. This however is undeniably the more expensive of the two builds and therefore I do not recommend it to newer players. I plan on doing some serious min/max studies with various commando builds in the near future. Once I have them completed; I will post a comprehensive video on my findings.

Hello! Love the vids. What would you say is the class in most demand for heroics? Im looking to fill in.
@avt727-12 жыл бұрын
I would say that the two most in demand classes for heroics are medic and officer. As long as you are running one of those you will always find a group. If you are looking to run strictly DPS I would play either the spy or the smuggler. The commando is also always highly in demand, yet there are a ton of commando players.
@curtiswhite35532 жыл бұрын
@@avt727-1 The main problem with officer and medic in groups is there is typically only 1 slot for each of those. So if the group already has a medic and officer you aren't likely to get in. Where on the other hand there are 4 DPS slots in almost all heroics groups so it's much easier to get into groups as a DPS. I know all heroics I've been in love getting a bunch of commando's in the DPS slots.
@avt727-12 жыл бұрын
@@curtiswhite3553 You make a fair point on slots. However, all I can do is speak from experience. I have had many groups where the medic/officer is the last slot to fill since there aren't as many players. Whereas commandos are a dime a dozen. It usually isn't hard to fill DPS. Either way, as long as you don't pick BH or Jedi; you should have a relatively easy time finding a group.
@curtiswhite35532 жыл бұрын
@@avt727-1 I agree with that although in the groups we almost always have a Jedi as tank. Most the time it's light Jedi but sometimes dark Jedi can tank as well as long as they are outfitted correctly and have the right build. With EV we find it's much easier to have a Jedi in the Any slot as well as the second Jedi can help with the ping ponging part.

Heal stim overtime is a waste.
@avt727-12 жыл бұрын
While I tend to disagree; what makes you say that? Do you feel the point is better spent elsewhere? The commando is already short on heals. A heal overtime can make a big difference when running solo content.
