@@jemieculp6847 To each there own, but me personally... Luke is his father's son. He should too become a husband and father, and have to deal with similar dilemmas Anakin did but handle them far more wisely. Mara was an incredible foil to Luke and was by far the best choice to make this happen. Further she was an incredible character on her own with a good pantheon of supporting characters and a compelling backstory. Especially compared to all the other terrible characters they tried to hook Luke up with, like Callista. That character was an abomination and absolutely ruined Luke's characterization (by god he had ghost computer sex with her, and then she accepted a girl about to commit suicide offer to possess her body afterwards... which is darkside. Then made Luke literally have sex with a possessed corpse). Yes, Mara's hookup with Luke was sudden but it's mostly because other authors kept trying to given Luke a new GF every book who had absolutely no personality besides being his GF, let alone a compelling backstory. She was by far the right character for him. So Zahn was forced to rush Luke and Mara because other authors gave us dumb plotlines like Luke dating a computer or a women claiming she knew his mom.... and I'm not even getting it Lumiya or Mary from the Marvel comics or the numerous other GF from the short stories. Honestly Mara Jade was done a real disservice by authors who randomly tried to hook her up with Lando suddenly to make way for their newly created and plot induced stupidity romance they tried to hook Luke up with every other book. It further made no sense as Lando didn't trust Mara in the Thrawn trilogy and Mara didn't have a high opinion of him either. So we lost literally 10 years of story where Luke and Mara could have hooked up more naturally. So I see where you're coming from, but I strongly disagree. Luke and Mara hooking up was Lucasfilm righting the ship (no pun intended) and was by far the best choice the EU made with Luke's character besides him later also becoming a father himself.

@Jonathan Ryan you've pretty much hit the nail on the head, I'd just add two other things - 1) a big reason why I'd say they're my favourite couple in fiction is that they make a really good team, it's seen several times in the Thrawn trilogy even when Mara despises Luke (escaping the Myrkr forest, saving Karrde from the Chimera), Survivors' Quest is also a great example. And 2) you did mention this but just wanted to expand - they both reflect each other very well: Mara is an example that anyone can be redeemed which is a core principle for Luke (he was still trying to save C'baoth from the dark side at the end of TLC), while Luke (as far as I remember) was always loyal to his family, friends and the Jedi, and it's mentioned multiple times in the Thrawn trilogy that it's a core trait for Mara (which also links her to Karrde but that's another topic)

This is honestly my favourite part of Heir to the Empire and why I think initially Zahn wrote Luke the best, just as trying to reason with the Noghri assassins before being forced to kill them, he seeks to understand why Mara is hostile towards him, while also keeping himself alive. Its Luke's early journeys in the Post Endor period where he tries the diplomatic approach that I love.

This is what I’m most looking forward to on May the fourth! I’ve been waiting to see Luke and Mara’s wilderness scenes onscreen ever since I first read Heir to the Empire! I’m so happy to see the beginning of my favorite Star Wars couple onscreen. This series has been a joy to all us expanded universe fans. Thank you for all your hard work DarthAngelus!

Eh, I’m going in with very mixed feelings as far as the Ahsoka show is concerned. On one hand, I’m really looking forward to seeing the ghost crew return. On the other hand, I’m worried that the series is going to be a copy and paste of the original Thrawn trilogy with Ahsoka and the ghost crew replacing Luke, Han, and Leia. I’m going to wait and see what happens before I let myself get excited for Ahsoka.

Even if we do see them in Ahsoka, I highly doubt it’ll be to the capacity of the original Thrawn trilogy. The conflict that Thrawn brings in canon is centered on the ghost crew and now Ahsoka so I don’t think the OT characters have much place in her show. Their storylines are most likely going to be given to Ahsoka and the ghost crew of nothing else.

*Sad fact:* The planet Myrkr, where Karrde's base was located, is also the place where Anakin Solo was killed during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. Years later, Tahiri Veila, Anakin's girlfriend, visited the system and used the flow-walking ability to see Anakin again in his last moments, being able to give him one last kiss. Unfortunately, Tahiri revived the experience so many times that it caused her to completely fall to the Dark Side.

@ It needs to keep being said just like "EU canon", Why wouldnt we keep saying it when Disney and it´s influencers keep posting "Disney Canon" that is nothing more but a sham fanfict of Filoni´s Retcons and Time Travel mixed with EU material? This is in large part Lucas Fault, he allowed a dude in charge of the cartoon section in charge of all the canon of the franchise going forward when EU writters and game makers have been setting the groundwork for it for decades.

Palpatine had more important things to do than spend his extremely valuable time with women, you know?!" Luke: "Cool...I'm very glad to know that my children won't have the blood of the most ruthless monster of the Galaxy running through their veins!" Mara Jade: "Agggghh!!! That's where Karrde apologises to Han and Lando for chasing them out on short notice, where Han and Lando check out the sheds and Karrde walks in and admits that Luke was a prisoner, that Mara chased Luke and wants to kill him, and that the Imperials want Luke. Thrawn figures out that the Skipray chase wasn't the pursuit of a common thief, where Mara shoots a vornskr, and Karrde's conversation with Aves. May the Fourth be with you!

Finally, I’ve been waitin for you to start on part 2 for over a year now. You’ve done such a ballin job on this whole project/story. The animation is professional-esque; no 1930’s Japanese-like moving mouths with no sound nonsense or anything even remotely like that. It’s like an actual movie. You should do like LOTF or FOTJ after you finish this whole project. Luke & then Jaina Vs Caedus.. Or some Vader wreckin shit during the Purge. Or ya know, whatever you actually decide to do I’d watch either way lol. Anything you put out I know PLENTY of people, plenty of SW fans, that will eat it up. This is better than any kind of bullshit Disney puts out by a long shot.

We know that Mara Jade hates Luke for killing the Emperor. She expected 5o be his new apprentice. But she doesn't know that it was her predecessor Darth Vader, Luke Father Anakin Skywalker, who destroyed the Palpatine/Sidious.

Rather he would focus, reach for the force to attenuate the crush. So, just head back and eyes closing - instead of putting his hands in front in fear?
