Yes, Cal is not Luke, and now with this ending, we know their missions are very distinct. We can let Luke be the one to save the galaxy (and his father) and end the empire while Cal takes a more passive role, creating a haven in Tanalorr, something that outlasts the empire. With this direction change for his character, I can really see him actually surviving his third game, but anything can happen honestly.

I just don't want either him or Merrin to get like a really unsatisfying or just straight up bad ending. I'm fine with them dying; but I want their deaths to happen at the same time while for example doing something insane to help the rebels in a massive and maybe even tide turning way. Survivor's ending really holds an endless amount of possibilites for the next game, which is another reason it's brilliant. It doesn't force Respawn to go a certain direction, they can literally do whatever the fuck they want. I don't have a single idea about what to expect in the last game lol

I predicted bode was bad when you are leaving Coruscant getting chased and he breaks off by himself in his ship “to lure some of them away” (verbatim). To answer 7:50 a lot of people didn’t see Bode’s betrayal coming and I don’t blame them. Cal get’s a new best friend, who’s wholeheartedly with him on everything and cool as shit? Yeah that’s possible, I guess. But early on he starts asking questions about Cal’s team, how he met them, their backgrounds etc. and he give vague, all be it reasonable responses in return to Cal. The false sense of opening himself up to a Jedi because he’s just that. Then he started being weird… disappearing at random points, conveniently being alone with Zee after Dagan fight #2, staying behind after Dagan fight #3, so on. I never fully trusted him, so it wasn’t a surprise to me that we he betrayed us. What DOES taken everyone completely off guard is after we break his jet pack, thinking “we know your secret, you’re trapped, you should be easy to put down” just for his ass to have an even BIGGER secret and turn out to be a Jedi. That’s the one that gets talked about more, because from a screen writing point of view Bode could have easily been or not been a snake. Deceiving us into ONLY thinking about options A or B without even eluding to C being a possibility. That’s good writing.
