Padme has always been such a role model. Even when exposed to the darkness and hatred that she was, she managed to stick to her beliefs in order to keep herself and her children safe. Even if it meant betraying a true love in the process.

wolf12king Anakin was separated from his mother at a young age and only saw her again in his teens as she was dying. You can imagine how traumatic that was for him. He also did not have the best relationship with the Jedi council from the start. He thought the Jedi did not trust him and for this reason he did not trust them either. Palpatine treated him better than any of the masters on the council. Anakin was always very power hungry and in the end it was his greed and lust for power that turned him.

I think Padmé was killed by Palpatine. I mean, after all, he and his masters would always temper with the force, and he somehow knew she died moments after her death. The medical droid claimed that he didn't know what was wrong and that she was just dying. Also, Padmé was the only person (besides his children) able to pull his new apprentice away from him. Her death allowed him to have full control over Vader.

+CDRomBeta You see, even if Palpatine would temper with the force, the force can do anything at will. Interesting theory, but Anakin made it happen himself. By trying to "save" her from death he made it happen, since she had no will to live after he'd gone to the dark side. Look at it like this, if you can see into your future, and something bad happens, you'll automatically try to do something about it, and when you do that you fullfill the future, if you understand.

Well, the council would've forbade it because of increasing Anakin's attachment problems having her that nearby. Also, Republic credits had no meaning out on Tatooine. I think it would've been worse for the council to have a kid who they refused to train because of his attachments to his mother, to then allow his mother to move nearby and be an obstacle.

Republic Credits not valid? There are other ways to pay. She could have whored herself to Watto. Would have messed up Anakin even more if nothing else. And the Jedi council and it's attachment issues? Those guys are creepy, taking kids aged 3-4 and stopping any attachment to family so that they can have their way with them. That's fkdup right there. The Jedi have gone from being heroes in 4-6, to a sinister, self-righteous back-room organization trying to pull the political strings in the senate and trying to overthrow the democratically elected leader. That's called a coup. Order 66 couldn't come soon enough.

Thank you for doing this video! I have long awaited this episode because as a fan of Padmé I feel she is one of the most underappreciated characters in the saga. Unfortunately in the films her scenes often ended up on the cutting room floor to make way for Anakin's story. I would have loved to have had a full-length book exploring the events of her life from her perspective. She is the moral center of the prequels and has a sense of what is right even when everyone else is losing theirs. With that said, she had a tragic end, partly related to her own foibles. Luke is the one who truly embodies her spirit. I can only hope that the proposed comic book series on her life comes to fruition, though I would still prefer a novel. In the end I do prefer Padmé to Leia. 'The Phantom Menace' is really her movie if you think about it. Thanks again for the video!

dying of a broken heart is a legitimate thing. the heart has many ligaments that assist in keeping it's shape, when someone is subjected to enough pain and sadness it is possible for these ligaments to break and cause major heart problems that can cause death quickly. though this event is rare and has been documented very uncommonly.

Don't mean to sound mean or anything, but. . . If you ever watched the CGI Clone Wars series, you would know that Anakin was not always at war. He was home with Padme as either a meditative retreat or he snuck out of the temple to be home. So it is very possible that during his last home visit before he was sent to the Outer Regges (if that is how you spell the word) he got her pregnant.

Leia. Better quality of character, and I don't mean personage in a story. And Carrie Fisher was just as hot then in her movies as you younger folk find Natalie when her movies were made. I find Padme's story a little too incredible. Can't see kids 14 and 9 being attracted to each other. If I had such a leadership position at such a young age, episode 2, I doubt I'd be attracted to a guy 5 years younger and so much less mature. Then they went against Jedi rules. Where's the integrity she showed as Queen Amidala? And then to top it all off, she lost her will to live at the end, even now with children! Princess Leia had a warrior's will to win out over evil. And though I enjoyed seeing Leia in the new film, I thought Ms Fisher's acting was one of the "weakest links."
