Imagine an open world stars wars game with a charater creater/selecter with all the species in the star wars universe . Each species has a different starting planet. Depending on what you do most is how you build your characteristics and stats. Where eventually you will be able to go to all the planets that the other characters started from to do missions. @@insensitive919 That's because the blasters in the OT aren't the same as blasters in the PT. In the latter, they're laser bullets. In the former, they're high-explosive rounds. Stormtrooper armor would protect you from the latter, not the former, and Stormtroopers, as well as most of the Empire, were designed with a Clone War mentality in mind, which allowed the Rebellion to dance around their defenses.

It's kinda both at this point. So many "woke" games end up having boring/shallow gameplay, having insufferable dialogue/characters, or actually just being all-around bad, that it's now _expected._ Add to that that some of the people involved in making these products can't keep it professional, that the marketing is woefully out of touch, and that people are watching their spending nowadays. "Wokeness" is now like having a smelly toilet right in the center of your restaurant as an "art piece": It's an *absolute* turn-off that'll repel potential customers, good food or no. Word-of-mouth will spread, causing your business to fail. ...There's probably a better analogy out there, but I'm drowsy AF. What I'm trying to say is, people have been taught to expect garbage, while they also have less money to spend. So now they're hyper-critical and paranoid of "woke" games, making them less likely to even give said games a chance once they catch a whiff of "wokeness", which can also lead to failure.

Fun fact: in the old SW lore before Disney bought the franchise, Stormtrooper armor was actually pretty good at protection, with RPG games giving them good stats, and in the films, you'd need a good blaster to blow holes in it like a DL-44 or an E-11, both of which create small explosions when they hit the target, meaning that you need high-explosive rounds to penetrate the armor. Stormtrooper armor was also valued well on the black market, and bounty hunters hot on the trail to find their targets for cash will literally drop everything and loot a battlefield full of dead Stormtrooper corpses knowing that the armor pieces will sell for a fortune on the black market. One bounty hunter even commented on how Stormtrooper helmets had multiple visor modes.

Some games seem like they're giving their marketing teams nothing to work with. A genre clone that isn't pushing the envelope technically and that doesn't have a hook is a hard sell. Because I'm tremendously old, I don't have recent comparisons. A game I played in my youth was Star Trek: The Fallen. I think it had some gameplay that set it aside. It was praised graphically (as the unreal engine was really good at creating an exotic atmosphere). And it had the appeal of letting fans of the show (ST:DS9) play with characters from the show in locations from the show. In terms of plot and tone, it seemed consistent with the source material. By contrast, Outlaws' way of dialling up your interest is to let you play as Not Han Solo. A comparison would be knowing that people were keen to drive a Porsche and opting to give them a Daihatsu Charade with a spoiler. A game that is stunningly beautiful seems easy to market (Bioshock, Farcry). Other games sounds cool. With Max Payne, they could talk to you about bullet time. With Citizen Kabuto, there was a novel appeal to playing as a giant. Alice had the visual of an alice with knives (high concept marketing) and had gameplay with limited non-euclidean geometry. With Messiah, the gameplay involved possession and a cherub called bob, I think. Even Soldier of Fortune could talk about locational damage and dismemberments. Deus Ex? Probably easy to market. When people talk about that Chinese game, it has an identity. It's the monkey game.

Star Wars games in general have let me down. I was playing them in the 2000's, I grew up on the SNES Super Star Wars games and the awesome Sega Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron, Jedi Outcast/Academy and Battlefront II. The new Battlefront II I got for 9 dollars AFTER all the big fixes, and it was kinda fun, but Jedi Fallen Order was a weaksauce Dark Souls and Tomb Raider stapled together and Squadrons lacked even an outside the cockpit view, something that was standard in ship games for twenty years or more. I had zero hope for Star Wars games after those, thank god I played them on Game Pass and didn't waste any money on them. I'll just stick to when tsar Wars games were good.
