They managed to get everything wrong in one single game. 1) There's a significant portion of the SW fanbase that only cares about the superficial shiny toys- lightsabers and Force powers. So they weren't going to buy this game regardless how good it was. 2) There actually is a portion of the SW fanbase that thinks playing a female character makes them a drag queen. They weren't going to buy a game with a chick lead. 3) There is a portion of the SW fanbase that doesn't mind lead chicks, as long as they're hawt. I think we can all agree this chick is not hawt. So, right off the bat, the only audience for this game was SW fans who don't care about Jedi or what the lead character looks like. Just so happens, I fit that demographic. And I was genuinely interested in the game when I first heard about it. Which brings me to the second set of filters Ubisoft squeezed this game through. 4) It's marketed as an "outlaw" game. But the gameplay is generic 3rd-person shooter/stealth. Nothing at all to do with smuggling or "outlaws". 5) It's marketed as a high-end AAA game. But the graphics are a decade behind the times and the mechanics are even older. 6) It's buggy as hell and the bugs are 101-level stuff that even solo devs shouldn't be releasing. Run the game through all those filters and the target audience is vanishingly small. Tack on an absurd price, combined with the company's anti-consumer attitude, and sales were guaranteed to be abysmal. And I genuinely hope they go out of business over it.

Playing a female lead wasn't a problem with Battlefront II sales. EA used a hot voice actress for the role and used her for the character model. Outlaws picked a hot voice actress and made the character look more alien than human.

They need to update the main character model, so she doesn't look like Rocky Dennis. With Outlaws now on Steam expect some crazy fan edits. One idea would be to replace the main character model with Eve from Stellar Blade.

Even with patches this game still needs to contend with a dull unattractive protagonist that nobody wants to play as. I doubt they will be overhauling her face and hair because she has been heavily used in marketing materials.

All I can say is that as a old time pc Star Wars gamer, Outlaws needed to be dropped to around $20 bucks for me to have any interest in picking it up. Fifty dollars is way too much for a game with this many issues and Ma'am Solo as a protagonist. My bet is a lot of people will try it and quit before their two hour window to refund it.

Star Wars Outlaws released on November 21, 2024 2,386 24-hour peak Starfield released on September 6, 2023 7,462 24-hour peak The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released on November 11, 2011 3,211 24-hour peak The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition released on October 28, 2016 31,916 24-hour peak ........ especially when 13-year-old games beat them into the dust.

Now its on Steam it will be pirated in no time. And more than likely anyone that takes the effort to hack it, will fix a lot of the problems and someone might even reskin the character as Han, or make major changes to turn it into a game fans would want to play, just to prove they can and stick the finger up to Lucasfilm and Ubisoft. I would not be shocked if this happens, and then it might do better as a pirate fan edit than it did as a legit release. They truly would be funny...

Unlike Mr H. We actually played the game and enjoyed it and it’s not as bad as they proclaim. They claim DEI because the character is an “unattractive” female and there was nothing woke in it, it was just a basic story. I gave the game 7/10.
