The prequels have their flaws, granted. But who was Darth Vader? A man? A machine? A monster? We couldn't tell. What did we knew of him? Nothing. What did we thought of him. To be pure evil. The original trilogy brought us this being, like he hailed from the void to oppress worlds and sould with his presence, and he did. All that lacked to our vision was how he was created. A question that the prequels brought us. The tragedy of the chosen one, who gave up his existence to save the only thing he cared about, and destroyed it. Vader would not be half the character he is now whithout the prequels. No one can take that away from them!

The howling wind calmed, until only a slow breeze with a few gusts remained. As the man who was once Anakin felt the presence of his long lost love, the Heavens opened, and the rain poured down, as if even the clouds mourned over the Queen who was once Padme. Anakin felt neither the ice cold wind, nor the apocalyptic downpour. Streams of rain ran down his helmet and cape like rivers. A single teardrop gathered in the corner of his scorched eye. One last tear to cry. It found it's way down his barren chin as he bend his head and reached out. He trembled as his gauntlet touched the tomb, as if the touch itself send bolts of lightning up his crippled arm. "I should have saved you. Spared you. Protected you. You were the light of my life, my heart. I wish you could forgive me. I wish I could forgive myself." For just a split second, the raindrops gathered in her closed eyes and ran down her marble face like tears.

@@weiserEsel I love his acting in 2. He plays the character that he was meant to. You aren't supposed to like Anakin. "What I remember about the assault of naboo was how...sad it was. During the final hours of the invasion, I was still guarding our fair queen's tomb as wave after wave of stormtroopers and walkers finally broke through our Anti-air blasters and our defensive line. The fires that engulfed the anti-air blasters could be seen even in the thick of the storm. The white soldier of the empire ran up the streets and barged into the homes of many like a plague of death to our fair kingdom. The skies were still gray with rain and patches of silhouette battleships hovering our city that cast a looming shadow over us. Most of the civilians got evacuated, a few transport were shot down as a warning not to resist. A few squadrons were making their way towards the queens tomb with thermal charges. To destroy the tomb to make a statement to us citizens of naboo. As one of the hand chosen few of the royal guards. As someone who watched over our fair queen before the rise of the empire...before she was brought back to the royal palace without her life. I was taken to an oath and swore I would defend the final resting place of the last queen of naboo. To be the last man standing as the city is torn from the inside out . It was a death sentence I know...but our queen ment everything to us. I steadied my hand as it held the blaster rifle and held my aim. The world around me grew quiet as if it was holding its breath to see who would make the first move. As fortune would have it, I made my move. I pulled the trigger and opened fired on the first stormtrooper that came into my line of sight. We traded shots after shots. One fell down dead, two more came to take his place. I dont remember how many I have taken down, but I taken down enough of their forces for them to call on a Walker. Their heavy blaster knocked me on my back and I slam to the ground. I skidded on the wet concrete a few feet from the queens tomb. I slowly got back up as I lean heavily my fighting staff. They began to draw in like a pack hungry beast who have cornered their injured prey. My rifle was broken, my vision was darkening as they drew their blasters on me. Under my breath I muttered,. "Forgive me your majesty...i tried my best..." I closed my eyes and waited for death. The sound of something drawn came from my left and the sound of a blaster being fired. I open my eyes to see a man in black with a red lightsaber deflect blaster shots and slashed the stormtroopers. The Walker backed away and I knew why. It did. Darth vader. The Sith lord's apprentice. His breathing through the rain sent chills down my spine. He turns to me with the lightsaber still active and slowly walks over to me. I glance back at the tomb and to the sith in front of me. I took a stance. Ready to fight once more. He stops and tilts his head a bit. He turned off the light saber walked next to me. He stops and spoke, " you have guarded her well." I was puzzled by the sentence. He goes close to the tomb. He slowly reaches and touches the tomb. For a good few minutes their was just silence. After that he turned and walked away where the troopers came from. My knees buckled and I was on the ground. Tears running down my cheeks as the world faded to black. I woke up weeks later at a base on Yavin 4. The rebels found me unconsious and brought me to their base. They said that mostly the royal palace was in ruin. But royal tomb was still intact. Not even a scratch or debris was around it. As the survivors spoke of that day they said that it was the most horrific day. When I see that image of the sith lord and the tomb I cannot say it was a horrific day, but a rather sad day...and I just dont know why.... -tenzin seltora, the last royal naboo tomb guard

"Lord Vader we've..." I stopped myself further as I came upon Lord Vader with his hand placed upon the tomb of the late Queen Padme, I've seen many people pay their respects on both sides of this war but sometimes in the chaos you forget how that invisible pain of loss really bleeds through the surface of almost all creatures...I've watched Rebels collect their dead and mourn and I've shared my fair bit of grieving. I could never really understand what it must be like to walk in the boots of Vader but where we do relate is our faces hidden away from everyone - hidden away in armor that does nothing more than offer basic protection and alienate us from the rest of the outside world. This armor is a prison in it's own sense, I've often wondered if he's felt that way as well. "My apologizes sir, I did not mean to interrupt you." I quietly stammered while turning back around the other way to leave him to his moment of peace with someone her clearly had known, before walking away I holstered my blaster and turned back. "TK-661 you may stay, was there something you needed to report to me." "..I was instructed to let you know we've secured the palace along with sectors D-3 and D19, walkers are holding and waiting further orders as well....It's not my business to ask but..did you know the Queen?" There was a slight lull in the air even as the rain fell to the ground outside the mausoleum, he didn't say anything and given the stories about Vader from the Imperial officers - I was scared I was about to meet the fate many of them had. "I ask because I grew up here, never really felt like I fit in with a lot of the crowds of politicians but she was different, she wasn't a politician she was the one person who made Naboo really worth sticking around for and everything she believed in and fought for was noble in itself, I never got to meet her in person but I just always felt like she was even a greater person beyond the holonet." A silence hung over us both, he softly placed his hand on the stomach of the statue and with a solemn tone he replied "She was the brightest star and everything the Republic should have been." I didn't say anything but nodded in agreement with his words, I could see other squads on the move towards us "Lord Vader, I'll inform them that you require more time to conduct your mission if that would be preferred." "No Trooper, that will not be necessary." He said while turning back around and preparing to leave and as he made his way down the stairs he briefly stopped and turned his head back towards me "Trooper, never let go of who you are and you will survive." He continued walking with me off to his right as the other squads formed up as we prepared to evacuate Naboo, I took a different shuttle off planet than Lord Vader but his words stuck with me, I couldn't figure out what he meant at the time but years late I would.

@MrPjw5 it's not bad for creative fan fiction. But, if we really wanted to poke holes in it, a TK doesn't make sense. A death trooper would, as vader was actually accompanied by them at her tomb. We could be funny, and make it fit in earlier timeline wise and make it a clone trooper and it would 100% make perfect sense. Minus the Naboo background. Although you could work it around as being stationed there at some point. Vader loved and cared for the clone troopers. For many reasons. There is a cool non canon comic out there with a clone trooper who was close to Vader and they were great friends. It's actually brilliantly done and a really good read.

There is so much power in this image, so many themes and symbols which make you just drop your jaw in amazement. Here Vader is, a man who has changed so much in such a short span of time, visiting his love’s grave. Vader stares at her, knowing that the tomb she is encased in is the result of his actions. He destroyed his love, all in an attempt to save her. Vader is here to apologize, hoping Padmé will forgive him, but even if she does, he will never forgive himself. Vader inflicts so much pain upon others, yet it’s minuscule in comparison to the pain he’s inflicted upon himself. To everyone around him, Vader is a ruthless monsters, but to himself, he is shattered beyond repair, and as the rain portrays, drowning in his sorrrow.

A lot of people hate the prequels and the Clone Wars series saying it portraits Anakin as weak and pathetic but on the contrary i think it makes him look stronger. He lost everything and bit by bit all the love and happiness in him was replaced by hate and suffering towards the jedi and himself. He lost Qui-Gon, the man who freed him from slavery, as a true jedi should, because the jedi order was too blind to see the dark side rising. He lost his padawan because the jedi-council cared more about politics and power in the senate than what they sensed to be right. He lost his mother because the jedi were more concerned with waging war than serving the good by freeing slaves and protecting the innocent. He lost his wife because the jedi refused his plea for help and instead told him to let go, essentially to let his loved ones die. He lost his faith in the light side because the ones who represented it chose to murder an unarmed man and his only hope of saving his wife. He lost the closest thing he ever had to a father because the jedi forced his hand. and finally he lost himself when his anger and suffering were finally unleashed so he lost control and killed his wife. Anakin did not turn to the dark side. He was pushed from the light.

Palpatine made Anakin suffer the cruelest pain of all: having killed his loved one, only to be cursed by nearly eternal life. Every inch of his body, every waking second is excruciating pain. Everything that touches his scorched flesh is a harsh and bitter flame. Every breath he takes reminds him of the life he took. He suffers in Hell. As corny as some of the superficial aspects of Revenge of the Sith are, (i.e., certain special effects scenes, dialogue ect.. which have been critiqued to no end) when you ask yourself the question; what is this movie really about you get a startling answer. It is an exploration of the only thing that really matters regarding Human affairs, a juxtaposition of Love and Power. Vader has superfluous ability, unlimited resources and the strength to peer into the hearts of other men seeing only fear and trepidation and controls them based on that fear, he knows that there is nothing more terrifying than himself and yet he is utterly dissatisfied with his complete acquisition of Power; this is the tragedy of Vader, he is a prisoner trapped in a cell which expands to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy. He may sit on the highest throne of the most prosperous planet and yet there is more freedom in the heart of a lowly clerk who works only for his family because he loves and knows that he is loved and exerts no power over anybody. Vader does not love and therefore cannot be loved but only feared, his obsession and Lust for power corrupts him so totally that the only thing in the universe which he regards as nobler than himself, Padmè, is destroyed by him. Vader is then ruled by this desire subject entirely to its demands and nothing is sufficient to satisfy its hunger; he stands utterly alone in the universe as a terrible obelisk to the pursuit of power. :(

In some twisted way you end up caring for the villain and his or her tortured past because we have all experienced loss to some degree and deal with it in different ways, but there is something so heartbreaking yet powerful about a once good person doing these terrible things. He manipulated and ultimately ruined Anakin's life, nearly wiped out an entire religion, and threw the entire galaxy under the bus for his own selfish ambitions. Every tear shed in the galaxy, from the Clone Wars up until the Empire's fall, can be traced back to Palpatine.

Revenge of the sith is the best Star Wars film if you are looking for emotion, almost all emotions are in it, that's why people love it so much, the scenes express emotion as well as the music, the most beautiful music in history.

I think every one of us, experiencing what Anakin went through from young age, would have a Darth Vader in them. It's up to how much discipline and control of emotion one has over himself - which is a hard thing to master - how we deal with that darkness. Not saying that darkness is bad. Darkness can be a very good teacher.

“Fear is the path to the dark side, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. Qui-Gon-Jins funeral anakin was fearful. Shmis death, he was angry and killed all the tusken raiders. Anakin chokes Padme and loses the fight to Obi-Wan “I hate you”. He now suffers as Darth Vader

I have felt the smallest fraction of what Vader feels. That endless pit of self loathing. The desire to do *SOMETHING* with yourself and knowing that suicide is not the right answer. So you throw yourself into the fray in hopes that you die in glory. But you cannot. You cannot die. You cannot live either. I felt that for years until around November of 2019. Just remember Niche. Without suffering, life has no meaning.

@@user-rk5cx2vu8l How did I do what? Live? I just remembered nearly every day that "If you give up on life, how will you get the opportunity to make it your bitch later down the road?" That desire to make life my bitch, to take it across my knee, kept me going. As ironic as it is, vengeance against the world kept me alive for years.

This music just gets me right in the feels, man. And it hurts even more when u realize that Anakin only wanted to have the power to protect those he cared about.Yes, Anakin made mistakes. But only because he was manipulated by Palpatine, the utter douchebag and he was let down by the council. Every time. And even at the end, by Obi Wan. Anakin fought so much and sacrificed so much and in the end, the Universe gave him NOTHING in return. The story of Darth Vader is the story of a sad and broken man who lost everything because everyone around him eventually failed him.

Anakin gave in to everything because he was afraid of losing the people you love, but what he didn't know was that some destinies are fulfilled when you try to prevent them, and if he hadn't done that, maybe Padme would be alive right now.

Original Trilogy: Villain to a tragic hero who came to an unfortunate but redeeming end Prequels: Building on the tragic hero with a love story, that has a dark and horrid end Sequels: Utter-fucking cash grab This music makes me think of the OT and sequels of the absolute depressing story of Anakin/Darth Vader where a man had to chose between a life he was promised (Jedi Order) and a life he wanted (Betray the order and live with his wife) and we see him suffer from the wrong choice. Then I thought of how awful the sequels are with Rey having the nerve to call herself a Skywalker, seriously fuck the sequels

Alkisgamer there have been rumors from Doomcock's sources that Disney is trying to get George Lucas to return to Star Wars, you can look it up if you want. Also, remember we're getting to see Obi-Wan (or Ben, I guess) in his own show in a couple of years, with Ewan McGregor and almost certainly Hayden Christensen. I think he'll appear either in a flashback from the Clone Wars (hopefully along with Ahsoka and the clones, reinforcing them into canon), or he'll appear in his dark suit as Darth Vader... either way, that's enough to keep me hyped. And if they somehow manage to screw it up, we still have a wonderful 6 movie, coherent saga to enjoy

The sad part is what Anakin lost. Naboo symbolizes paradise; beautiful scenery, excellent climate, small-town feel, organic, flowing architecture, and wonderful government. (Even under the empire, Naboo enjoyed large amounts of self-government). Padme likewise represents a "perfect" woman (of course, in the eye of the beholder and all that, but generally speaking) She's intelligent, witty, an excellent speaker, charismatic, gorgeous, powerful, wealthy, and most of all, a politician and a woman who actually cares. Look at her apartment in ROTS (when Kenobi tells her Anakin has turned). That's what Anakin could have had. A lavish lifestyle with the girl of his dreams (literally). Not to mention that while Padme loved him, I feel Anakin's relationship is more obsessive. He's willing to kill children for her, etc. But most importantly, he never tells Padme he loves her. When he expresses his feelings, it's always in terms of pain. (I'm in agony, hoping this kiss won't become a scar, etc.) His obsession is tearing him apart. It's based on medieval courtly love with Shakespearean influences. (Knight and member of the court he is sworn to protect). It's a love that is somewhat off, and one we desperately want to succeed, but that we know is doomed to fail from the moment they first kiss on that balcony in Naboo. Padme's death is a self-fulfilling prophecy. By trying to prevent it, Anakin ends up causing it instead. And Anakin suffers a fate worse than death. It is a love that brings down the galaxy and causes untold suffering. What could have been if they succeeded, if they resisted temptation? We can only imagine.
