I know what you mean. I think you need to have the pod passing you in high speed to get that du-du-du with doppler effect (as in the movie), when you sit inside the pod you don't really get that sound. You can still hear Sebulba's pod sounding like a regular steam engine with its low frequency thumping sound, if you listen carefully.

This version had a much more faithful racetrack to the film than the Episode 1: RACER,, and better graphics, but the gameplay on RACER was far superior than this one.

I've played both, recently picked up Racer from GoG.com. I'll have to give the point to Arcade though, the podracers have a real sense of momentum and power that I just didn't get from Racer PC. Hoping someday we'll be able to emulate this game well on our PCs, since not all of us have access to the original hardware for the cabinets like this guy :)

The first Boonta track on episode I racer is inaccurate, but the hardest level full Boonta Eve track is faithful, the earlier version most know is a Beginner course.

I agree, racer had drifting as well as tilt, and some form of altitude control, and much better boosting. This version looks much closer to the PS2 version. In racer there are hills you can drive up and get air from. Jumping from ramps is a core mechanic Driving by all those copy-paste arches, ew. Dreamcast version of racer is the best, though I grew up on n64

Racer's Boonta Eve Classic is actually based on a map of the track provided by George Lucas himself. You might be thinking of Boonta Training, which takes exactly 2 elements from the movie track being the last canyon and Hutt Flats. Worthy of note, while other games "Feel" more accurate, SWE1R has the only BEC based on the track's canonical map. Essentially, you may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like

Can't say I have played the arcade game here, but I almost passed the entire game with almost every character in the N64 version. That game was so awesome between the only thing I wished was different about was that if it allowed 4 players.

The game demands a certain degree of strategy in how to distribute your boosts. I could've used them up all in the first lap, but then my opponents would gain on me slowly but surely over the next few laps, and I wouldn't have made 1st.

Arcade is very slow compared to star wars racer episode 1.Pure cheating of SEGA. It is only to compare the 700 km / h with the 200km / h of arcade games of racing of the own SEGA. Pure deception.

Weel the game looks not only very slow but also unfinished and rushed in its production! Just see how bad and poor the colision detection is, the pods of the player don't even explode or something like that, and also, the game even has options for adjust the difficulty settings! Anyway, the sounds of this version are awesome and really taken from the movies, contrary to the Episode 1 Racer and RAcer Revenge on that matter... only the Kinect Star Wars Racer (which should have been an full game for me!) got the sounds right... and for the graphics, the Sebulba and Anakin pods are much better modeled here then the versions seen in Racer revenge itself, mainly sebulba, ehre the original orange pod looks like just an reworked version of the original Episode 1 Racer pod! That's absurde LOL.

I think so. If you look in another video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ_YpX-OZcqaiLs ), as you select your pod, to the right there is Gasgano's pod. But I think it is time released so I cannot use it, yet anyway.
