A man you thought was evil grew to become someone that redeemed himself in the best way. He risked and gave everything up after realizing how empty and truly unfulfilling his life was. All the Imperials thought was just some typical job as a servant of the Empire, but nothing about friends or family. Kallus realized he lost himself by being in the Empire and would prefer to have a true life, not be some cog in a machine or some robot.

Kallus was a fantastic character in Rebels. But his voice actor was just as great. Going from sinister Imperial agent to turncoat to Rebel, you can sense the change in tone, but it's not abrupt. Kallus's Log: "After returning from the encounter with Zeb on that desolate icy moon, I walked- no, limped, through the familiar corridors of the Star Destroyer. I did not know exactly how long I had been left stranded, but as I passed my fellow Imperials, my comrades, they simply passed me by, like I was a part of the durasteel walls they walked by every day. After remembering just how Zeb was welcomed back by his Rebel companions, I couldn't help but feel more stranded than I was back on the moon. I had returned home, to Imperial space, to a place where my words were meant to be followed, but in the face of such welcoming prospects, I realized how hollow and chilling they really were, like the icy caverns I had just departed. Soon I came across a familiar face, Admiral Constantine. Surely he would have taken notice of my recent return from possible death? Yet I erred. Indeed, he would have passed me by like the others had I not greeted him first with a " Admiral Constantine". "Agent Kallus" was the cold reply, without any inclination to even briefly meet my eyes. Apparently, that holographic report he was viewing was more deserving of his attention than I was. As I entered my quarters, as I viewed the familiar cold, hard bunk bed, as I washed my face in the darkened room, I kept telling myself that I was simply doing my duty. It was part of my duty to give my life to the Empire, as I swore to do as an Imperial. But was not my life meant to be valued as much as that of anyone else's, as much as Zeb's and his companions'? I sat on my bunk, feeling the warmth of the glowing stone radiating on my back. It was probably the warmest thing I could find in this Star Destroyer. Zeb...what could he be doing right now? Wherever he was, at least he was not the one stranded in an icy cavern, still holding the glowing stone.... "

I liked how when Kallus was rescued off that ice moon, and back with the Empire. It's a moving moment when he gets back to his dull grey quarters, and you can see him thinking ' is this all my life amounts to?' And he's also kept hold of that warm glowing rock that he and Zeb found. The fact that he kept it, a light in the dull gloom, would say a lot about his current mindset, if say Thrawn has seen that. But to people like Constantine, it's not worth noticing.

It's a fallacy that the Empire has that was shown in the episode where Ezra went undercover in the Stormtrooper Academy. They don't encourage teamwork or trust, only competition and individual gain. People wonder why Stormtroopers are so ineffective. In the Clone Wars you see Republic Commandos working together and watching each other's backs. With Stormtroopers you may see a lot of them but they don't work together. You never see two or more of them focusing their fire on one target. It's all helter-skelter. Kallus actually encouraged more unity. If he had been listened to while he was an Imperial Agent, the Rebels would have long since been either driven so far from the core they'd as good as be lost, or they'd be dead. But he was working against a system that did not embrace such concepts. You may ask why the Emperor would want such a system. It's logical. With no unity, there is no cooperation and no trust. Without those, persons who start to think against the Empire would be alone. But that system also led to the Emperor's downfall. Yes, the Empire lost to a tribe of teddy bears on Endor. They lost to a Tribe of People who worked together and watched each other's backs.

@BrandonRaulston4 жыл бұрын
@2023 Brayden Langford a Mary Sue is someone who is perfect. Not someone who doesn’t make mistakes. The reason why people call Rey a Mary Sue because she barely had any character development and defeated a sith lord in Kylo Ren the first time she ever picked up a lightsaber. It’s not so much Daisy’s fault for this, I don’t think anyone will ever blame Ridley for her role as Rey, but they will blame poor writing. I enjoy the new movies Bc I’m a huge Star Wars fan but they trashed this thing called character development. Finn is a great example of this. We got teased before FA came out that he was gonna be a Jedi and Disney race baited us in to thinking we were gonna get another black Jedi for once and we got Finn. A character who chased another character around and yelled her name 24/7. Don’t even get me started with the feminism that was in TLJ.

Many moments in Rebels I feel are overlooked, mostly because of Clone Wars characters and Vader getting most of the spotlight. The character arc of Agent Kallus was great. Getting trapped alone with Zeb, I knew these bitter enemies were gonna have a heart to heart with each other, with Zeb of course taking the high road. Limping back to his quarters, he saw no one seemed to notice he was missing, or cared, unlike the Ghost crew with Zeb. Kallus becoming the new Fulcrum was cool, and when he fully defected, I thought it was a nice touch seeing him do little things like grow out his hair.

I agree with everyone here that Agent Kallus is one of the best things about Star Wars Rebels and that he has a moving character arc. My one caveat is that there is a scene in one of the early seasons where he's still an agent in which he and a storm trooper are hanging on for dear life and the trooper says something sarcastic and Kallus kicks him to his death. At the time I didn't know what his character arc was going to be but that act made him seem cruel and evil. I wish they hadn't had that scene if they were going to go with this arc for him. Sure Kallus was just being dutiful and thought he was doing what was right as an agent of the Empire but simply killing someone on your own team because they pissed you off seems more like it's tied to his character and that part doesn't ring true with who he turned out to be.

Kallus is such a good character and has a brilliant redemption arc it reminds me a bit about how we first treated ashoka. Hated at first then becomes liked. I know the defect from empire to rebel is a overused concept in star wars now but at least with kallus they did it well. He realised coming back that no one cared he was missing and that he was truely expendable in the eyes of the empire. When kanan thanked kallus for what he did, that is probably the first bit of respect he ever got. Also post empire kallus looked much better for him let's be honest xD
