We need to be careful about what we wish for. EA is still the publisher holding the Star Wars game license. I know that a lot's changed with them for the past few years, but considering the current trends of FPS it's very likely that should a Republic Commando sequel be announced, it will very likely be a gritty military-styled shooter with tacked-on multiplayer that'll play way to similarly to Call of Duty (or EA's own Titanfall) and have none of the depth that the original game had. Now, if the Star Wars license was taken away from EA, maybe we'll see something like this.

Just because an essential part of a 60$ videogame sucks doesn't mean that deleting it will fix the issue. If you gonna get rid of singleplayer because Dice is too incompetent to do it then I expect them delivering an amazing multiplayer instead. Battlefront is anything but amazing. It's Mediocre at best and the amount of maps is laughable for a 60$ release. 3. The first Battlefront came out in 2005 and was a proof of concept. In 2015 we had more than enough examples that this concept works so higher ups should be more willing to give the dev team more cash to work with. But you're missing the point here. When Dice decided to ditch Singleplayer, Space Battles and Prequel Content they didn't do it because it sucked and they were too up their own arse to fix it instead. They did it because EA told them the game gotta be finished before Episode 7 comes out, so that they can run the stupid ass comercial before the movie starts to lure fans into buying a 60$ game that's not worth the money by a long shot. Oh and the rest of the content will cost another 50$ because EA isn't stupid and they know they can treat their customers like little bitches because they act like ones. Stop defending corporate bullshit. This game wasn't build for you. This game was build to satisfy EA's higher ups. This game was build to make EA earn cash not to give you an amazing experience. EA isn't even hiding it. They openly admitted that they expected this game to sell at least 10 million copies almost a year before it was even "finished". In Triple Zero, the second novel based on this game, there is a moment when a jedi general is talking with the clone commander, before the battle starts, and she realizes that the clones who are preparing themselves for the fight are singing this song inside their helmets... This game introduced a factor into Star Wars lore that excited many die hard fans: a culture of bad ass warriors who loved to fight, and protected their families. Karen Traviss took it a step further, and introduced the whole Mandalorian culture and language to the SW Universe. Mandalorians had more than just what we had seen in games. I've been a huge fan of the old Mandalorian lifestyle before Disney axed all of the EU. Listening to this reminds me again of how great this universe was, and I can only hope all my vode agree with me. We will always remember tht we kept the universe going.

@@theinsanegamergeek If love hadn't been put into it, then Boba wouldn't be Boba. He'd be a clone of Jango Fett in every sense. I get that Jango needed more attention, and so did the pre ROTS Boba. These rough bounty hunters are amazing, but can you really not see exactly how much amazing stuff we got from this? Not only is Boba going through an incredibly understandable and fitting arc of realising that he loved his father for how he raised him, not for what he did. His time with the tusken raiders made him realise that he didn't love the bounty hunter, he loved the honourable man that raised him. Oh and also, you can not tell me that anything that expands upon the tusken raiders wasn't crafted with at least a little bit of love for the franchise, I mean since when has a producer given a flying fuck about them? I get you don't like the series, and that's fine, it was disappointing in many ways, especially the mod gang that was bad, but you shouldn't mistake your disappointment for their lack of passion.

Republic Commando and The Force Unleashed were great games that added to the lore and cast of the franchise. It's a shame that that they aren't declared canon because Disney wants to control everything they want to be deemed "official Star Wars stories", so they'll keep irritating sub-par storytelling like Star Wars: Rebels, but forgo great storytelling in the games (including Knights of the Old Republic), the novels (like the OUTSTANDING Thrawn trilogy), or great comic books (like Star Wars Legacy).

Along with Star Wars Bounty Hunter and Jango Fett Open Seasons both of which were fantastic and proof that you could have something from the prequel series be great. Then George and Dave Filoni decided "Ya know what? Let's not make Jango a Mandalorian and instead make him some guy who stumbled upon some armor and call it a day! " The one good thing about TCW Mandalorian arc was Darth Maul even though before that he had nothing to do with Mandalorians, call it market value. I bet the reason George hates the EU so much is that he had little to do with its success so he retcons everything in his favor. And then 1313 gets canned when Disney buys Star Wars.

Yeah, it's like the Expanded Universe did so well against exec meddling with both pre and post Lucas-selling-off-Star-Wars (although Rogue One was a great story in its own right, despite The Force Awakens, Rebels, and some rather lackluster novels from Disney). Sure, the later Clone Wars seasons had better writing, stories, and characters later on, but they still went against some of the more really interesting stuff (such as Jango's mandalorian heritage, which was fortunately incorporated into the "The Unifying Force" with Boba, or the "Star Wars Visonaries/Genndy Tartakovsky" origin/version of Grievous). Yeah, they didn't even need to mention Jango Fett at that point in the show, but I feel like that was an executive order by Lucas to make things into how he wanted them rather than working with the canon others helped establish (I suppose he did have that right as the man who invented the entire Star Wars universe, though). Oh well. At least these games, the Legends EU, and awesome stories that managed to escape Lucas' rewrites, exist in some manner or another, and will always have a place for those looking for great stories and experiences in the Star Wars universe. Also, I'm still sad 1313 and Battlefront 3 were cancelled. :(

I remember the first time I heard this. I'd seen Republic Commando (and KotOR II, but that's another story) in the shelves of a local shop for a while, and after about a year, when we finally had a PC in the old family home good enough to actually run decent games, I got it for my birthday. Couldn't play it _on_ my birthday, since I was at boarding school at the time, but when I came home for the February break I finally got a chance to load this game I'd been coveting for so long, and the main menu splashed over the screen and this came through my headphones, and I knew I was in for something incredible...

Agree, but that's because there was so much going on during that era that simple films couldn't capture. Games, books, shows and comics helped a great deal to tell the story that the prequels just couldn't fit in. I love Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith, but the first hour of Attack of the Clones can be dreadful at times. The rest picks up though.
