The size of the maps, and the ships that populate it, along with the number is staggering for the technology at the time. It really makes you wonder, why hasn't gaming kept this formula? The greed to produce as little content for the most money is ruining the chances of games of this quality being able to be released. Case and point the Rebooted version of Battlefront by EA. They COULD have made it ground to space. They COULD have made the maps absolutely gigantic. They COULD have given it a campaign. But they didn't. Simply because there's more profit in releasing games that are essentially divided into different sections, then sold for the most possible per section. I pray that eventually we'll come back to these days.

The new battlefront has the same mechanics as previous games a great deal more game modes and did away with that what battlefront 2 failed at like space battles. Plus the first dlc is free so yeah corporate greed and stuff... How about instead of calling it corporate greed we call it reimbursing developers for all their work. Case in point Star Trek Online which has an amazing free to play model. All content is completely free but you can pay for new ships and cosmetics. Consumers still call that a cash grab despite being able to play the whole game and all its features without spending a cent.

+The Cinema Cowboy The game looks and sounds pretty but plays like crap and offers "Free DLC!!!" as a sort of band-aid for the idiot consumer. Also BF2 had much more content (and the space battles btw were great , you probably just weren't good at them) for around, 60$? So i'd say the people calling it a cash grab is right. Like Pizazz said, they COULD do a lot more with what they have , but they wont because it's much easier to not do it and still make a profit from making classy looking crap.

Rogue Squadron II was a launch title; this is Rogue Squadron III, but they look about the same. The GameCube was a pretty powerful machine for its time; personally, I'd love to see this series resurrected for the Wii U.

+EarFarce4 Since this is the Legends canon, I'll go with that one and say essentially it's because of the Emperor's death. He was using the Force to bolster his army and when he went, everything went to pot and they scarpered. Movie-wise, would you screw with the guys that just took down a SECOND Death Star, one actively firing at them? Really, it was probably a giant de-motivator for the Empire that caused a chain reaction of "to hell with this!" with the younger captains and "well, the new guys legged it and took their damn backup with them. We'll have to fall back to not die ourselves" from the older ones.

+A.D Mitchel Legends also offers the theory that, independent of whatever influence the Emperor might have had through the Force, pretty much the ENTIRE IMPERIAL ADMIRALTY was stationed on the Executor. Once the flagship goes down the remaining Imperial forces are going to be much less coordinated and as a result the battle pretty quickly turned into a rout.
