Hi I have a question about this project because I have now started my own and i was wondering did you glue a white stripping down the middle of the dome and if so can you tell me what material it is? 🙂
@lordvader8239 күн бұрын
Actually I found it in your description the white plastic flat bar. And I was wondering how it was shaped and secured to the dome?
@lordvader8239 күн бұрын
Did you have to shave down any part of the left or right side of the original dome close to the white plastic strip after installing it before adding filler to each side if that makes sense? Because on the video, I can see where you added filler to both sides of the plastic white strip.
@angeltat27528 күн бұрын
@@lordvader823 Hi. Yes, I sanded down the original plastic dome almost completely on the sides and also made it flat on the top where the white plastic strip is glued. I’ve used a plastic filler as a glue but both surfaces must be sanded with 40 grit sandpaper for better grip. It is not shown on this video but when the helmet shape was finished you have to cut off the original dome holder from the mask and to reattach it correctly. Original Rubies dome is not in the correct position. Use a pictures or screenshots from the movie to find where exactly the dome must be. On my second video the dome and the mask are in the correct positions

Hey your helmet is amazing and I’m planning to do the same thing to my helmet. I do have one question, what are the exact spray paints you use for the colors? I know you left a description, but I can’t really find it lol
@angeltat27522 жыл бұрын
Thanks Max. For the black you can use any automotive spray gloss paint. For the grey I used a BMW Mineral metallic Grey Spray Paint. For me personally this grey was the closest one to the reference pictures of the original ESB helmet. As you can see on description the high gloss finish is clear automotive varnish, sanded between layers.

@@TisDansk I made all proportions based on reference photos. I found very high resolution pictures of a helmet used in the movie. The photos are from the auction company that sold it and the helmet is visible from all sides. I imported the photos into Corel Draw, sized them according to Rubies reference points, so I could have any size of the original helmet. I am a professional artist and studied sculpture which helped me build it. All materials used in the project are described in the video description. I hope I helped. I'll try to find the link to the pictures and if it still exists I'll put it in the video description. The most difficult thing was to correctly orient the dome in relation to the face mask. In this video, the helmet is not yet finished and is not properly oriented. I made screenshots from the movie where the helmet is visible right on the left and right sides. So I saw the distance between the dome and the mask, as well as the slopes of the dome in relation to the cheeks and the nose of the face mask. I will upload a video of the completed helmet soon. I met Brian Muir (the original Vader sculptor) in person a week ago and he saw the helmet. There was only one small remark about the shape of the dome in the central frontal part. He said it was a little rounder than it should be in the Empire Strikes Back helmet.
