If you're itching for a Star Wars space simulator that is "more technical" as you put it, you could try X-Wing Alliance if you haven't already. The level of detail would blow your mind and you would notice that a lot of elements from Squadrons are taken directly from that series, such as power management between engines, laser and shields, targeting (for each capital ship you can even target subtargets such as engines, shield generators, etc), and for the earlier games of the series all the HUD was directly integrated into the cockpit, too. Plus there is a lot of content unlike in Squadrons... As excited as I am for this game, a short campaign and two multiplayer modes are not that much. Then again, we get a gorgeous new Star Wars game revolving around space battles costing only 40$ (or whatever the price will be in my currency) so I won't complain, on the contrary, I hope we'll all have a blast!

I'll definitely have to look into that game! For $40 this is not bad at all, especially since there are no microtransactions.
