Star Wars - Stranger Things (medley, Live in Helsinki, 2019)

In 2019 I was invited to perform at the Prague Film Music Festival as a support act for Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who were performing their music from the "Stranger Things" Netflix series. Luckily, I had made this cover for the FedCon festival back in 2017 already (thanks for reminding me, StargateGoddess! - no wonder I got a burnout that year), and since I was to perform after the main act, I thought it appropriate to make my own version of the theme. Since I was to perform after the main act, I thought it appropriate to present my own version of the theme. Now the theme is really short - only one minute long - so I expanded for FedCon with the The Force Theme from Star Wars by John Williams, turning it into a medley. The medley stayed in my repertoire for my last shows in 2017 and the whole of 2019. This video was filmed when I performed it live at Kuudes Linja in Helsinki, on the 22nd of May, 2019.
Thanks to Mika Knuutila and Jonatan Flinck for operating the cameras, and Sebastian "Baba" Sjöblom for the light show! Also, a big hand to Jørgen L. Ellefsen for the pompous background visuals!
I performed the tune using only analog synthesizers, with some parts played live and some parts sequenced. The performance was recorded directly from the mixer to a stereo track, and was later mixed together with the ambience from the room.
Equipment used in this song: Alesis Andromeda A6; Korg Polysix, Mono/Poly; Roland TR-808, JX8P, Alpha Juno 1&2; DSI Tetra, Logan String Melody mk2, Touched-by-sound DRM1, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Akai MPC2500 (only for MIDI sequencing), Yamaha 01v96, Behringer X32 Rack (preamps & reverb only), Lexicon MPX1, as well as a midi patchbay and additional preamps for my mixer.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that! I always put so much work into the preparations that sometimes I wonder why everything takes such a long time. But when everything is properly prepared, I can just record a stereo track of the live mix. So what you here is the line out from the mixer, blended with some ambient sound from the room using the built in mic of the camcorders. Just a bit of mastering work (but hours and hours of video editing 😑).
