@@viniciusmarcellino No, it isn't. John Williams always intended for it to be played by four guys, because that's how it's performed in-universe. The idea behind the piece was what it would sound like if aliens from the future discovered a Benny Goodman jazz piece and tried to interpret it. Calling this the "complete version" is second-guessing Williams.

You are in no position to demand that people "leave it to John Williams." There's no rule against making a different arrangement. Even Williams himself conducted this arrangement. And no, this doesn't have "too much flute." This is a jazz piece, and jazz uses a lot of flute.

Well, quite honestly, I don't think that was very good. It was a bit blurred and fuzzy in the middle.. and ragtime needs to be crisp and distinct in order to show how syncopated it is. Proof? Here is an Icelandic orchestra doing a MUCH better job. (Play from 1-10 to avoid preamble) kzbin.info/www/bejne/moCXn3qheaqZp8U And bear in mind it is 'phone footage.. and still a clearer sound than this.
@imfsresidentotaku96992 жыл бұрын
If you "don't think that was very good," then you're setting your standards unreasonably high. This is a fully orchestrated arrangement of a jazz-based tune.
@effyleven9 ай бұрын
@imfsresidentotaku9699 I will admit that the orchestra did pretty well, considering the difficulty of so many instrumentalists endeavouring to remain so PRECISELY synchronised as this particular number requires. They made a valient effort, and that is to be applauded... All the same, I think this rendition demonstrates that the symphony orchestra is not the right 'instrument' for all kinds of music. To be honest, I find that massive church organs in massive reverberrant spaces, like, say, inside a cathedral, (just as a suggestion) also totally "scramble" the music being played.... but much MUCH worse than this orchestra trying to play this piece of ragtime. A pet hate is The Entry of the Queen of Sheba, which can be so bad as to be a completely muddled cacophony.... as if all the keys are being played at once.
