The second episode gave a good illustration of how tapping into the dark side of the force can cloud your judgement. Dooku cared a lot about Qui Gon, but once he was consumed with anger and started force choking that senator, he literally pushed his apprentice away without a second thought, when he tried to stop him. It was the same thing that caused Anakin to force choke Padme, in Revenge of the Sith. Once the thought that she had betrayed him entered his mind, his love for Padme (the very reason he chose to embrace the dark side) no longer mattered. And it ultimately proved to be Palpatine's undoing, in Return of the Jedi. He was so enraged at Luke's refusal to turn to the dark side that he ironically failed to noticed Anakin's turn back to the light; and as a result was completely blindsided, when Anakin picked him up and threw him to his death

I think Dooku pushed Qui Gon away to keep him out of what had to be done. Dooku saw Qui Gon as more of a son than as a mere apprentice, and he wouldn't have wanted him involved in something dark/illegal.

Fun fact: Dave Filoni originally planned to make the backstory he wrote on how Plo Koon found Ahsoka, which he first revealed at SW Celebration Europe 2016. The story was that after the villagers recognised Ahsoka was Force sensitive, they sent out a transmission to contact the Jedi. Soon after a majestic coyote fae looking stranger called Latrans arrived, claiming to be a Jedi, and they gave Ahsoka to her. Then Plo Koon showed-up soon after, looking like a eird bug, and it turned out the fae was a bounty hunter, and Plo had to rescue Ahsoka from her cluthes. But then Filoni realised, there really aren't many mother-daughter stories in the franchise, so he went back a little further in time.

Hmm, for some reason, these phrases came to my mind: "What are you-are you a Jedi, a Sith?" "Does it matter? Of course it does, such titles allow you to break the galaxy into light and dark, categorize it. Perhaps I am neither, and I hold both as what they are, pieces of a whole. Know that I am your teacher, and that is enough." "'Sith' is a title, yes, but like you, the title is not who I am. It is not what I believe. For you… it is different." "It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it." Kreia.

You mentioning how Dooku had a black and white view of things you know who else had such a view? Anakin, remember the episode when Padme takes Ahsoka to see the separatists to talk to the more peaceful separatists? When Ahsoka asked why they were at war Anankin's explanation is literally, "They believe that the Republic is corrupt but they are *wrong* and we have to restore order." He does not consider the gray of things similar to Dooku nor is he aware of the politics going on he is blind to the truth of it because he believes he's on the side of good so much that he cannot be bad at all. Also don't forget that Anakin as Darth Vader committed many atrocities on par or worse than Dooku in the long run. What Dooku did in a time frame of 3 years Anakin did that and more within 24 years. Also here's a phrase that fits both Dooku and Anakin, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Anakin and Dooku meant well but they went down a darker path with both feeling they are doing what is best for the galaxy as a whole.

Couple things 1. The Jedi never take a child without their oarents complete consent and if they say no they leave and watch over the child from a distance to make sure nothing bad happens to them or because of them 2. Being a Jedi is seen as a great honor by most people and you can even see that in the episode her parents are sad yes because they will be giving her up but they are also clearly very proud becuase she is a Jedi then some time after the episode thry send a message telling them about Ahsoka and they are told that a Jedi is being sent to come speak with them and make sure they are certain of their choice and if they are the Jedi will bring Ahsoka to the temple a few days later this beautiful magical looking person shows up and says he is a Jedi(keep in mind most people know VERY little about Jedi other than they are legendary heros who can do anything) and they give Ahsoka to him then not long after Plo Koon shows up and asks about Ahsoka and her parents realize the person they gave her to wasnt a Jedi and was actually a bounty hunter who Plo Koon tracks down and saves Ahsoka from

I'm not really asking for this but it would be interesting to see a backstory of Palpatine in his youth. Because I think with how he is that he probably wasn't a very good even when he was a child. More of psychopath type. Dooku is more of a puritan type as you say that can't stand the corruption in the Republic and the Senate and it is what leads him to his extremes. He's trying to stamp out evil but in the process becomes what he is trying to defeat. It's fascinating, and hardly a unique story. Very human one that has happened thousands of times.

Tales of the Jedi is underway! We're off to a pretty great start with these first two episodes, getting to see the origins of two of our favorite characters, Ahsoka and Dooku. I really love seeing the cracks form in Dooku's faith in the Republic, showing that corruption that both he and Qui-Gon were so against; it really adds depth to both of them and gives a better understanding of why they think the way they do. I also really love seeing how Ahsoka's force sensitivity is discovered. We get a brief glimpse of Plo Koon finding Ahsoka and bringing her to Coruscant in The Clone Wars, so we know that it will be a few more years before she officially joins the Jedi, but it seems her talents emerged even earlier than that. I think my favorite scene is when Dooku is choking the Senator, though. A couple other comments said the same thing I was thinking, that the scene is a real good picture of how the dark side can cloud your judgement. There's a lot of parallels between Dooku pushing Qui-Gon away and Anakin choking Padme on Mustafar. In both instances, the anger completely blinded them to the fact that they were hurting people they cared about, nothing else mattered other than hurting the one who they felt wronged by. With all of that said, I think it's time to move on to today's fun facts. Episode 1 gives us our first real look at Shili, the homeworld of the Togruta species, and we get to meet Ahsoka's mother, Pav-ti, and her father, Nak-il. After the year timeskip, we see the Gantika, the village elder, feeding a variant of the tooka species, also called the adoris feline, a type of space cat named after Dave Filoni's own cat, Tuuk. This episode also gives a the first canon appearance of the kybuck, an animal native to Kashyyyk. They originally first appeared in the first chapter of the 2003 Clone Wars microseries by Genndy Tartakovsky (you might know him for some of his other work, including Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, and Hotel Transylvania). The creature that attacks Pav-ti and Ahsoka, known as a raxshir, is making its first (and currently only) appearance in this episode. The squirrel-like species that we see watching Pav-ti and Ahsoka as they are hunting the kybuck has an incredibly creative name: squirrel. That one's not really important, I just thought it was funny. Episode 2 doesn't have as much to point out, but there are a couple of things. First, when Dooku and Qui-Gon arrive on the unnamed planet, they are using a T-6 Jedi shuttle that first appeared in the Clone Wars episode, "Children of the Force." We get to see Dooku's signature curved-hilt lightsaber, and find out that its crystal used to be blue before his fall to the dark side. Young Qui-Gon Jinn in this episode is voiced by Micheál Richardson, the eldest son of Liam Neeson who, of course, portrayed Jinn in both The Phantom Menace and The Clone Wars. Well, those are all the facts I can think of for these episodes. I'm glad you guys are liking the series so far and am excited to see how you react to the next two episodes. See you guys Thursday for episodes 3 and 4! 😀

Also it shows that Dooku and Ahsoka are the two ways people can go down the path of standing against corruption, and how the Jedi became unknowing accomplices in it. Ahsoka's journey is more fruitful, hopeful and doing good by undoing the harm corruption has caused. Dooku recognizes the established corruption that has festered in the Republic for years, and wants to take more direct action, his (justified) anger going too far at times until it's too late.

Amazing you are watching these in a couple episodes each time! I think it's the best! Dooku was yoda's padwan and together with Qui Gon being his students and the story you experience I see dooku's views of the world not as black and white... Well at least for it's beginning. Dooku is the one who indeed stays stiff and breaks eventually to the dark side while Qui Gon his seen as much more bending and flexibale which might brought him to different views of the jedi (and sometimes with a good base reason to it) As you said, how we grow and who are the once influencing us is very critical and this kind of character vuilding motif is very strong in star wars and what makes it so beautiful... Seeing anakin as he slowly lost his path with wrong choices over time and not the right feedback now we can see others experience their own path! I am waiting to see your next reaction!

Did you forget that count Dooku had Lux’s mother killed when she advocated peace? Even when he was the leader of the separatists, he is still a Sith, Lord and answers only to one man. He was never on the side of Justice during the war. And never once believed that the separatist movement was actually going to do anything other than perpetuate the Rise of his master’s Empire.
@RyderDunei
@RyderDunei 27 күн бұрын
His reasons are not as blatantly evil as that, he truly believed that the new order Palpatine was building would be one free of corruption, thats why he went through with whatever plans Palpatine gave him, he believed the ends justified the means, and that the Jedi, the Republic, and maybe even the Separatists were only perpetuating corruption, and, of course, the dark side helped twist his sense of morals along the way. Did you ever wonder why he is known as "Count" Dooku? Its because, in disregard for the Jedi's rules, he got in contact with his sister and discovered he was from the nobility of his home planet, and when the jedi refused to aid his home planet for political reasons he became disillusioned, and subsequent situations like we see here only furthered his disillusionment, until Palpatine got to him.
