So star wars the clone wars is a perfectly fine game, one of the better versions of pandemic. Yet also, it is what it is. A pandemic mod with star wars on it. And that's fine, its just that limits its ceiling somewhat. Still this is about as good a game as pandemic the clone wars could be.

Well, this is kind of perfect. Thanks to The Mandalorian, I'm finally getting back into Star Wars for the first time in ages. And I don't have a copy of Pandemic. To the board game store!!!! (insert 1966 batman music here)

I couldn’t stand the Clone Wars series, but after playing the game (and Mandalorian/Boba Fett series) I can tolerate the tv series now. When they talk about planets in the series, I recognize the places from the board game!

Played the intro session with Ventress and we weren't sure if we had all the rules right, but it was fun.

Yeah ditto - it was a very easy setting and we were a bit underwhelmed. So we stepped it up with General Grievous next time and got kicked out the galaxy (probably losing by 1, maybe 2 turns) So that restored our faith in hte mash-up of 2 of my Favourite Things. Good concise review 3MBG!! (as always)

It's a good game, but a little too easy when you know how to play it right. We increased the difficulty by adding villain cards or facing more than one at the time. It's a fun game to play!

It sounds like a more polished version of Wrath of the Lich King with more interesting theme, which is a good thing. However, we already have one copy of WotLK in our gaming group, so having both of them would be as redundant, as having two different versions of Monopoly. And believe me, as a person who owns two different versions of Monopoly, I know what I'm saying 😅

I’m very interested in this game as a big Star Wars fan, and I don’t have many cooperative games in my collection, but man the price is holding me up. Games of this complexity level normally don’t go over $50.

$50, i wish i could buy any game for $50. This game is $115 NZ Dollars. Sure, it might be expensive to you, but it still sounds like you are paying bargain prices in US dollars for games.

@@3MBG I know NZ (and each country) has different standards for how much games go for and how much is “a lot”. My point was just that this game (list price $60 USD) is one of the most expensive games of this complexity

I'm pretty sure when they used Cthulhu as a theme Pandemic officially jumped the shark. That itself was a few versions ago.

I appreciate Pandemic and still play some versions of it occasionally. This looks like a mashup of Pandemic and various other games/mechanisms with the Clone Wars theme. It probably would be fine to play, but my initial reaction is that it seems like pretty weak effort to mash up iffy rules and mechanisms.

One personal gripe... I'm always a little wary of the 'final boss battle' mechanism, as that feels rather overused in video games and risks becoming a similar trope in board games.

I hear you, but its a change up from the normal game ends, which is some co-ops can be anti-climactic

I can see why people like it. But it really misses the mark on the themes explored in the Clone Wars. For instance the Jedi for the most part were a very dysfunctional lot and played a key role in the fall of the Republic. Selling them as the good guys really falls short of their portrayal in the series. Never mind that it was a unwinnable conflict to start off with by design. Luckily there are better SW games out there.
