Always more a fan of the first 3 trailers. The first one specifically. I like the fights more and to an extend even the looks. Those with the twins are still very good, good story telling and great visuals, but I'm not that connected with that random third faction and as another one said, those expansions were outright garbage, if you came from a fully voiced environment. But thats a different aspect, nothing to do with the trailers. The last one is indeed the only trailer I do not like - I find the characters and their movement goofy and the story behind it not very compelling - unecessary drama for the sake of it. Only bright spot was Malgus.

Some of the animations were a bit floaty. I think the higher framerate also hurts the viewing experience, making you more aware of some of the flaws that would normally be hidden by motion blur.

This is my VERY biased oppinion here but the Old Republic is THE BEST period in all of starwars, and the game these trailers are for is the best starwars game in terms of the sheer quantity of lore and exploration in the SW universe. Although, many Star Wars fans would say the Knights of the Old Republic games are the best because they have the best story, this game has more variety, having 10 different fully fleshed character stories, with 3 in particular being so good they could each be their own standout AAA game. Btw, each of the 10 stories take around 100hrs to complete. You can become the mightiest of Jedi or be an Imperial Spy who's the equivilent of John Wick mixed with James Bond. The best way I could describe is game is an mmorpg that's a mix of World of War Craft and Mass effect. Now, as someone who isn't aware, I feel like I need to tell you about the dad/old man from the trailers, who I belive to objectivly be the best villain in all of Star Wars! *DARTH VALKORION, the Eternal Emperor* He's basically like Palpatine on steroids, BUT more immportantly, he has major plot archs andcharacter development where he starts out very similar to palpatine/ the pure evil genius, but his goal is self improvment and to become more human and most improtantlyfor him, to live. His goal of becoming immortal isn't just because he's the big bad who wants ultimate power, but he infact loves life and as I mentioned his goal is to become more human. He does this by repeatedly trying to consume the life of whole plannets and eventually the whole Gallaxy (which he does through staging the Mandalorian and Jedi Wars and esentially causing a 3 way war with the Republic, Mando's and the reamerged Sith Empire which he rules. He does this because he orriginally started life as a souless emotionaless Sith, but due to the nature of his power, for everyperson he kills, he gains/ expiriences their memmories and emmotions and so becomess one step closer to feeling whole as a person. Now the character development comes into play here when through his constant encounters with Darth Revan and our protaganists throughout multiple Old Republic games, he realises that extinquishing life from the Gallaxy isn't the correct way to become whole, as not all life is worthless and if he followed through with his plans he would be left all alone in the Gallaxy with nothing but himself and his new found emmotions (fear, lonnlyness ect). Therefore, he decided to try and rule the Gallaxy propperly and bring about true peace & actually helps people, or at least those he deamed worthy. This caused him to discard his old Identity and the Sith Empire (The one that Malgus is from) as he saw them as to corrupt and failing. Therefore he formed an new empire, The Eternal Empire! (As shown in the Twins trailer, their the 3rd party you see.) Now interestingly, he started to open up more to his emmotions. (Although he still appears as heartless and cold in the trailers, as the son in white hadn't earned his approval and respect until after he killed his brother.) These changes included him *USING THE LIGHTSIDE OF THE FORCE AND INDOCTRINATING ITS TEACHINGS* and forming an order of force users that used both the Light and Darkside (similar to Grey Jedi, who use yellow and blue lightsabers. Although they are more Grey Sith, also they are the ones who were wearing that gold armour you liked). HOWEVER, the most important change was how he opened himself to love and had a family (despite how disfunctional it ended up beign). In the game, you learn how despite everthing, he cannot bring himself to harm his wife/ the mother (in the trailer with the Daughter) no matter what happens or what she does. He'll literally torture his children but will at most ghost his wife and not do anything, even when she went against him (he couldn't even punish her for trying to save her daughter.) He also shows a disturbing amount of discomfort empathy, remorce and compashion when he sees her harmed. And when she's on deaths door he burns up a large amount of his power just so he can appear before her so they can have their last goodbye. Now remember this guy started out as a pure evil sith who's the Old Rebublic equivilent of the devil. It's this character development coupled with his unique purpose/ goal all stemming from him wanting to feel emmotions and become more humane. To gain what we all take so easily for granted. + His aesthetic desighn/ armour and voice actor are all fire!

No, ahead of them. Vitiate consumes entire planets through the Force and is capable of inhabiting multiple bodies simultaneously. Later on in the game, he infects an entire planet (Ziost) with a logic plague, causing every living thing on the planet to start slaughtering eachother so he can absorb the Dark Side energy so much fear and pain and death releases to regain his strength. Oh, and he does that while literally just being a Force Ghost, like Obi-Wan in ESB.@@NostalgicMem0ries

Vitiate had all the right circumstances with No debuffs. Had a decent upbringing. He had no challengers to his power. Once his powers awakened he was THE apex predator. Imagine if Anakin or Bane didn't have the absolute nonsense they had to go through? Is Vitiate the only force user ever to obtain the kind of power he wielded? Probably. Nihilus was similar but...a fluke of nature and still got packed up by the Jedi Outcast. But if we talk potential?? Well. It's not clear if Anakin had any limits. Same with Bane.

During the 3rd video you asked where the Republic fleet was. Much of the fleet was scattered around the Republic since the Sith Empire attacked their territory in force. Also when Malgus and his forces attacked Coruscant the leaders of the Republic were at a peace negotiation on Alderaan which obviously turned out to be a diversion. The Old Republic lore is rich and deep, especially considering how little source material there actually is. Hopefully Darth Mickey and the Disney Empire stop trying to fix things that aren't broke and actually use this material as a basis for any OR shows in the future.

The Jedi master that looks like Maul is Kao Cen Darch, the Order Battlemaster - chief instructor in lightsaber combat. As you can see, he more than lives up to his position - and an even bigger nod to Malgus for actually defeating him. Yes, he is the same species as Maul - they are called Zabracs. Basiclly there are two kinds - Irridonian Zabracs, which is what Kao Cen is, and Dathomirian Zabracs, which is what Maul is.

That's BS. Cannonically, the strongest force user to ever live was Anakin, he just didn't achieve his full potential. Luke and Palpatine would also top most old sith. That line of Kreya is always used by everyone who doesn't really know the lore and believes one line in a videogame (which I love, btw) must be true. Yoda, Windu, Obi-Wan, Maul...they would all be considered top tier if they suddenly appeared int he old republic era. The thing is, there were more force users back then, and they were used to war more. But they weren't more powerful. Jedi, in fact, became more powerful with time, as they learned. Sith lost a lot of their rituals, so in some manner they lost power. But the rule of two also made the two ruling Sith much stronger.

In fact, canonnically, Luke didn't learn hardly anything beyond Force Lift, Push and Jump until AFTER he defeated Vader. The HEIGHT of strength for both the Jedi AND the Sith regarding Force Prowess, not influence, reach or numbers, was in the Old Republic Era. Vader and Luke both exist at a time where MOST of the Sith and Jedi knowledge has been lost to time because of the wars waged in the past. Countless Jedi Temples and Archives destroyed on Countless planets, same for the Sith, especially after the Sith Genocide by the Jedi. But nah, all the Jedi and Sith during the movies' era are the strongest...with all their youngling abilities and techniques that they mastered...and the most basic force abilities that they were really good at....yep....that's definitely the height and most powerful version of force users....absolutely...(Sarcasm).

Do you understand you are comparing movies to videogames and comics, also? In the EU/comics/videogames, Anakin and Vader were FAR stronger than in the movies. Same for Grandmaster Luke and Palpatine. And that Anakin didn't reach his potential didn't mean that in the end he wasn't able to defeat most force users in history. He just had the bad luck of fighting against Obi-Wan, who was not only considered a particularly talented jedi, one of the best in generations, but he had trained Anakin and knew how to fight against him. Lucas said Vader at his peak was 80% of Palpatine and if he reached full potential, he'd be twice as powerful. However in the Abeloth story, she was said to be a dozen times more powerful than grandmaster Luke (who by that point was much stronger than DE Palpatine) and she was weaker than the Father in his prime and Anakin was supposed to be able to rival him at full potential. So Anakin was either twice as strong as Palpatine at full, or over a dozen times. Whichever, he wasn't anywhere near full potential

about your question concerning the third faction and their objectives... thats not an easy question to answer... you see: the guy with the beard is called valkorion and he created the eternal empire. but he is not what it seems like (spoiler: he's also the sith emperor and millenia old. shook hands with marka ragnos and all that...) Tenebrae, also known as Vitiate, the Sith Emperor and Valkorion, was the Dark Lord of the Sith and the ruler of the Sith Empire. He declared himself as the new Sith Emperor and ruled over the Sith after the Great Hyperspace War. Since his arrival on Dromund Kaas, the Emperor isolated himself from his people and started on his lifelong quest to destroy the entire galaxy and obtain eternal life. Tenebrae was born during the Golden Age of the Sith, prior to the outbreak of the Great Hyperspace War. He was born on the planet Nathema, one of the fringe worlds of the first Sith Empire. His family were simple farmers who had no connection to the Force. However, when Tenebrae grew older, he started to develop a connection with the Dark Side of the Force and his powers grew significantly. When his father found out about his powers, he started to question his wife and abused her for answers. Tenebrae's mother told them that Tenebrae was related to Dramath, the ruler of Medriaas. Tenebrae was so angry that he killed his father for abusing his mother and battered his mother for months until she died at his hands. After murdering his family, he forced the other villagers to bow down to him. When Dramath became aware of the existence of his son, he payed him a visit and asked him to bow down before him. Tenebrae refused and appeared to be stronger than his biological father and killed him in a duel. After the death of Dramath he became the ruler of Medriaas and managed to impress Dark Lord Marka Ragnos, ruler of the Sith Empire, at the age of thirteen. Marka Ragnos then recognized him as the ruler of Medriaas and renamed him as Lord Vitiate. After Marka Ragnos died, and the Sith Empire lost the Great Hyperspace War against the Galactic Republic, Lord Vitiate called all living Sith Lords to his world to perform a ritual to wipe out the Republic. However, the ritual was a scam to grant eternal life and he single-handedly wiped out every living thing on the planet, including the Force. After the ritual he lead the surviving Sith into space, fleeing from the Republic and hoping to find a proper planet. After several years floating in space they found Dromund Kaas. Lord Vitiate declared himself as Sith Emperor and promised his people vengeance. Several hundred years passed by and the Sith Empire had become a prominent empire. Around 303 BTC a few Dark Council members started to plot against him, knowing his goal to destroy the Galaxy. When Revan was secretly captured by Darth Nyriss and Lord Scourge, and Meetra Surik managed to contact Scourge, Lord Scourge plotted a move against the Emperor, by letting the Emperor wipe out the entire Dark Council so Scourge could free Revan from his prison. After his release Revan confronted the Emperor but was defeated after Scourge betrayed them. The Emperor then granted Scourge enteral life and named him as the Emperor's Wrath. Revan was captured and imprisoned in the Maelstrom Prison, his thoughts linked to the Emperor's, hoping he could scatter information about the Republic's defenses. Unknown to the Emperor, Revan also managed to manipulate the him, delaying the war as much as possible. About three hundred years later the Emperor found his armada ready for war against the Republic, and so the Great Galactic War began. After 28 years the Sith Empire managed to win the war, but the Republic wasn't defeated. A peace treaty was settled between the two factions and the Emperor became the ruler of half the Galaxy. During the Cold War, the Emperor was attacked at his Emperor's Fortress|fortress but managed to defeat the strike team and brainwashed them as his pawns. One Jedi Knight managed to break free from the Emperor's will and allied with Scourge to take down the Emperor. Satele Shan is the GOAT. She went from a padawan in the start of this, holding a fight against Sith...to the Grand Master of the Republic, straight sacking armies, and besting one of the strongest Sith to ever live in Malgus and crippling him for life...nearly killing him. She's a solid #2 of my favorite Jedi. Nobody beats Snips though for a solid character.

Her master saved her and her lover had to kamikaze Malgus with a grenade to do anything to him. I'm not saying she's not great but she's never taken Malgus on and won through just her skill alone.

And when she faced him again, she was going blow for blow with him until being disarmed. She was holding his saber for like 3 second before homie ran in...with little strain on her face. With the sheer power of her force blast, one wouldn't have to think too hard on her being able to do that while holding his saber back, at least enough to push him away. Not her fault that her simp had to come in and blow himself up. There's a reason she was Grand Master of the Republic, and ranks in the top 5 force users to ever live...ever.

Darth Malgus is awesome but he betrays Sith Emperor Tenebrae (renamed Vitiate) for letting the empire fall into infighting. Vitiate split his consciousness and took over the body of a man called Valkorian light years away from the sith. He had three kids and forged the Eternal Empire, which went to war with the Sith and the Republic. Vitiate makes Palpatine look like a whimp.

The kids in both trailers are siblings and the emoperor the man with the beard is their father, who was a former sith and founded the eternal empire. the woman in the second trailer is their mother who was a jedi. their father wants to train all his kids as sith and their mother doesn't want that. that why she tries to hide that her daughter has the force. The two boys names are Arcan and Texan. Arcan is the one in white who kills his brother. the daughters name is vaylin and the emperors name is valcorian. please play the game. it's one of my favourite games and our little community needs more players. the game isn't far as good looking as the trailers but the stories are fuckin amazing and it's hardly addicting once you've gotten into it. "Where's the Republic fleet" There's an interesting bit of story that wasn't told in the Deceived cinematic. The leadership was currently engaged in 'peace talks' with the Empire elsewhere. I forget where precisely. But this attack on Coruscant caught everyone off guard. Imagine this from the Republic's perspective. The Empire, the Sith fucking Empire, just asked you for a summit to discuss a treaty. Sure, Tython is important. But Coruscant is your homeworld. The crown jewel of the Republic. So deep within Republic space that you would assume no attack could be performed on it. This was not the case. During the peace talks Darth Baras managed to wrangle from the Republic a completely unconditional treaty by ransoming Coruscant. The leadership was away from Coruscant, and their fleets went with them to defend them. Troops had to be redeployed to the summit to guard the leadership. Ships needed to be used for transport, and their accompaniments went with them to defend them. So the Empire's attacking force, lead by Darth Malgus, mozied right on in and took Coruscant by the balls. Malgus wanted to burn Coruscant to the ground. Turn it into an empty husk like Taris. But the Empire wanted it as a bargaining chip. They needed the treaty to amass power. So Malgus was denied and Baras was able to look Satele in the eyes and mock her while getting an unconditional treaty.

The girl in the 5th trailer is called Vaylin. She is the daughter of the emperor and she was / is the most powerful darkside character in Star Wars. Even more powerful thn Palpatine. All the old Sith are powerful, but Vaylin is next, next level. Her power combined with her madness is scarry. To show it, just one qoute from her "I want you to find our enemies and burn their bodys into glass. I WANNA MAKE A WINDOW OUT OF THEM" To me, next to Snape and Arthur Morgan, Vaylin is one of the best fictional characters ever written

Jace Malcom, the trooper that faces off against Malgus is the epitome of what the troopers could be. Again, so the players could imagine themselves in that roll. You will see the most of the playable classes in the first three trailers.

The republic fleet were in peace negotiations on Alderean, at the time the Sith sacked Corescant. I think SWTOR is the longest running star wars game ever. I don't want to spoil the third faction that the twins were apart of, instead I will say just play the game. The storytelling in the game is amazing.

As a fighter, take Darth Vader, give him a speed and agility increase, the ability to conjure and absorb Force Lightning and you have Darth Malgus. Vader was more of a proficient swordsman while Malgus could best be described as a free-form brawler.

Iirc once Anakin became Vader, he modeled some of his fighting style off of Malgus', since he didn't have his former agility and Malgus was skilled but also strong af so he could brute force his way through fights.

They say that Legends isnt canon anymore and then proceed to shamelessly steal all of its ideas and concepts for their movies/shows and water them down/ruin them. At this point, when a Legends Character shows up in a Disney property by name, you can be damn sure they are not going to be themselves and will be ruined. What Disney is trying to sell us is NOT the Star Wars content from Legends we want and love, its the hollowed out Husk of the Corpse of those things that Disney is shamelessly defiling. The less Names from Legends they besmirch, the better. They have done way too much already. the last one may not be as good cinematic wise as the eternal empire ones but thematically and lore wise it's great. yeah the jedi basically just take children and leave the family to whatever happens. they still do that later not letting anakin get his mother out of slavery even later after he became a successful knight. Then you have the padawan getting turned to the dark side. the end with the you are in a cage and free yourself then her getting angry is straight from the Sith Code which is heavily in use in the old republic. pretty much every old republic game has you memorizing the sith code for a mission. The first three videos are the setup for the game - The second Sith Empire sweeps in, devasting. The war is fast, but as the Republic wakes up and starts to fight back on planets like Alderaan the Sith start to lose momentum, and make an all-out assault on Coruscant, destroying the Jedi Temple. The Sith offer the Republic a ceasefire. With the Jedi Temple in ruins, and the Sith in orbit, the Republic doesn't realise how weak the Sith position is and agrees. The game begins at this point - a fragile ceasefire while the Sith consolidate their hold on the territory they've gained and rebuild their strength and the Republic desperately try to mobilise and unite against the invaders. The second series of movies are about the Zakuulian Empire or The Eternal Empire expansion - as both sides have wrecked each other, they sweep in and conquor the galaxy under their own Emperor, Valkorian. They're small but highly technologically advanced with legions of high-functioning battle droids, a massive ai powered fleet and advanced weapons and armour, The Sith Emperor is very very cool, Darth Vitiate is an absolute monster. He's voiced by horror legend Doug Bradley. I don't know how much you want in the way of spoilers.

The first 3 trailers chronicle the Great Galactic War. It lasted 28 years from 3681 to 3653 B.B.Y. (before the Battle of Yavin). The first trailer is the beginning of the war, the second is the mid-point of the war, and the third is the end of the war. The war ended with the Treaty of Coruscant and peace lasted 13 years before war broke out again. The last 3 trailers take place sometime after 3640 B.B.Y. Darth Malgus was 19 when the war started and 47 when it ended.

This Cutscene is from the MMO "The old republic" which is an continuation of the solo rpg games "Knights of the old Republic" I and II and takes place a couple of centuries after those said solo RPG, about 3000 years before the battle of Yavin so its back when the old republic was a lot younger. But can all be considered part of the Star wars Legend so its not even close to canon since Disney took over and announced there was no "good stories" in Star wars prior to them LOL. Don't want to spoil any of the storylines plots themselves in the games but in the course of the 2 solo RPG games and the MMO that's named "The old republic" one get to experience the Jedi Civil War, the direct aftermath of the first Jedi Purge(Yes the First Jedi purge), The Jedi-Sith war and more. Had ton of fun playing through all three and the only bad part is that the MMO released new content at such a slow pace that me and my friends eventually tired of waiting and moved on to other games.

In EU/Legends it tends to represent using a blend of things, whether it's Force Use/Physical Combat/Skills or Light and Dark. On the meta level it is showing that they are distinct and an enemy of both sides.

Well, yes and no. Yes, Valkorion is _technically_ the Sith Emperor, but the Eternal Empire was a neutral faction that attacked both the Sith and the Republic. The Zakuulan philosophy on the Force is vastly different from the Jedi and Sith Codes and is incompatible with those beliefs. Valkorion himself stated that the Sith Empire was merely a "prototype" of what would become Zakuul.

We don't want disney tainting old republic like they tainted the galactic era stuff. Disney wrote off all the expanded universe stuff let them stew in the mess they made. Don't ask for a movie please. Also its a little confusing but the galactic era jedi/sith don't hold a candle to old republic. Malgus would wipe the floor with vader in 5 seconds. Both the jedi and sith were at the peak of their power in the old republic while in the galactic era they were both in major decline. The Sith Emperor in this timeline can literally murder entire planets and absord their life force. Vader and Palpatine are not on the same playing field as much as people cope they are. Things like Force ghosts and force lightning being crazy in galactic era were common place in old republic. Eventually in the expanded content galactic era Jedi did reach their peak again with luke's revival of the order but Disney ruined that for us so. Peak Luke Skywalker is nutty. The sacking of coruscant happened during a cease fire treaty signing. It was kind of a sneaky play by malgus to sack coruscant in return of more favorable terms to the ceasefire agreement. Thats why there was no real security.. On a side side note you should really play the MMO. You can basically play it like a single player RPG if you don't wanna engage in the MMO part. The storylines are fantastic fully voiced and the game is still doing well despite idiots saying otherwise. Its an underappreciated gem if your a star wars nerd because people always wanna play the FOTM and cry there are no games to play.

This is going to be a long detailed comment, alright first three vids detail the conflict between the Republic and the Sith Empire those two you know already, the videos after it detail the story of the 'Eternal Emperor' of Zakuul and his family the twin boys Arcann and Thexan (white and black respectively) and the daughter Vaylin as well as his wife Senya. As you saw, Arcann while angered at his father cut down his brother when said brother tried to stop him, as for Vaylin her power was bound by Valkorian aka the Emperor but what isn't detailed in these vids is the ties this game carries to KOTOR I and KOTOR II. Some time before KOTOR I, Revan and Malak confront the Sith Emperor, well that's him in another body and another face after he is defeated by the Hero of Tython. Ultimately he is cut down multiple times by the Alliance Commander. The first time is when he is 'removed' as Valkorian and permenantly down the line. As for Malgus' changes in the latest vids, after a coup against the Sith Empire ultimately fails he survives and is rebuilt.

I hate what Disney did to kyber crystals. Ok, I can somewhat get behind the color of the jedi crystals are done by imprinting instead of the different color crystals choosing the jedi. However, I can't get behind the red kyber crystals change. Before, the crystals were red because they were artificial. Grown by the sith and imbued with the power of the darkside. This process is what made Luke so OP as a jedi. His green crystal was synthetic. He used a darkside to create a crystal, buy instead of pouring darkside into it he channeled the lights idea. Now, you get a red crystal by bleeding it.
