Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker) is an upcoming American epic space opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. J. Abrams. It will be the third instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and the final episode of the nine-part "Skywalker saga".[a] The film is being produced by Lucasfilm and Bad Robot Productions, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Its ensemble cast includes Carrie Fisher,[b] Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong'o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams.
The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance face the First Order once more, and the end of the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. Principal photography began in August 2018 at Pinewood Studios in England, and wrapped in February 2019. The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 20, 2019.

It was Carrie Fisher's birthday yesterday, so the release of this trailer couldn't have been more appropriate. And you're right. They're not revealing too much of the story in these trailers. It's exactly that.

Small note: 7-9 are not part of Lucas' originally envisioned 9 films. Disney Lucasfilm nixed his story and let JJ Abrams do some high budget fan fiction. Lucas had also at times claimed it was 12 films. Other times claimed six was the complete story. So most of what people talk about in regards to Lucas' intention is mainly revisionist history of his own revisionist history. But these stories in this sequel trilogy have nothing to do with Lucas' vision.

I liked Solo a lot too, so you're not alone. Haven't like the sequel trilogy. Liked Rogue One enough. The only two things I hated about Solo was the last name thing, and the fact they had the character completely undercutting his arc from the OT. But the movie was really fun and more like the kind of Star Wars I want to see. But then again i want every movie to be like the Bioware cinematic trailers for The Old Republic: Knights Of The Eternal Throne. Maybe you guys should react to those if you haven't. That's real storytelling. Not like this nonsense we're getting.

You guys are so right!!! This is the LAST movie of the Skywalker saga! They needed something to bring the fans back in and this trailer offered very little to do that. The emperor alone IS NOT enough to hype up the excitement! I expected more and this trailer did nothing to make me want to run out and buy tickets. The first 2 trailers were better than this I'm afraid 😢

I would like to think that this is not the end of the Skywalker saga....... It is true that the movies with Mark Hamill , Carrie Fisher and Han Solo have to come to an end.....especially when we have lost Carrie Fisher, but that does not mean we should say goodbye to those characters. There are so many more stories that can be told within the Skywalker saga and Disney needs to look at telling those stories in animation along the same lines as Star Wars Rebels. The question has to be asked: Can Star Wars survive without Skywalker?

What a pile of pants. I enjoyed the 1st one in this newest trilogy, but mainly from a nostalgia aspect, but it really didn't go anywhere. And Nadia, I too much preferred Solo 👍

You're not wrong about it being a pretty bland trailer (beyond the amazing-as-usual visuals). But really...we're 42 years into Star Wars. If you're not excited about the end of this saga already, there's not a trailer in the world that's gonna do it.

I have complete apathy for this final Star Wars movie and that is worse than liking it or not liking it. The trailer for the Force Awakens got me excited for Star Wars again and when I saw the movie, I didn't like how weak and incapable they made the character Finn. But The Last Jedi was garbage that answered no questions and it made me realise there is no planning to these movies and they are just rudderless cash grabs relying on nostalgia and not good stories.
