​@@vincentmackinnon3601 grey shielding from star wars is a high tech super armor. Long story shortened it has 2 parts. The first creates a layer of ionization overtop of it that is extremely effective at dissipating and/or rebounding laser weapons including lightsabers. The 2nd part is an extremely dense and durable armor plating the can withstand almost any kinetic or thermal weaponry used against it. However its not used widely for its downsides. 1. It is very difficult to make and thus super expensive. 2. It is incredibly heavy so it's mostly used in high priority prisons walls to prevent people from breaking in/out. Putting it on a vehicle makes said vehicle pretty slow. 3. You have to power it for it to be effective and that is no easy feat. The larger the surface area of the armor the more power it takes. If you wanted to clad a Star Destroyer in Grey Shielding on its own the ship would have enough to power to either power the armor or power every other function on board but not both. 4. it interferes with other shielding techs...(this is a whole other topic in of itself) There are known instances of someone with a lot of money creating something clad in it small scale but then you gotta hide it real well, cause otherwise everyone else is either trying to steal it or destroy it. You mostly see it ground side instead of in space (see con 4). There is one instance in the lore somewhere where someone tried to make a blockade runner out of it that kind of worked in theory but not in practice.
