Indeed, I don't fault the devs for this decision. I woulda definetily wanted to play at the time first announced but it was def too soon and not at all surprise. I feel glad they are willing to make hard decisions for the betterment of the game and i look forward to hopping in the game once I can.

No, it wasn't. Your game either sinks or swims, not crawls back up on the raft because it's scared. Nearly everygame that has constant delays like this ends up coming out bad anyways. Don't give the devs credit for failing deadlines, or encountering more glitches after making promises. I had suspicions about the game, now I'm convinced it's gonna be another letdown.

@@FoxElliott But on the other hand, it would be appropriate to give the developers credit for avoiding the shipment of a bad game on launch, compromising with a delay. In addition, no one is crediting the developers for encountering glitches or unseen roadblocks; they're inevitable, and *no one* should be blamed or credited for those.

@@EappleSandbox It won't matter, every community says this exact same thing "take your time, better ship a good game than a rushed one!" and then when it finally comes out, its just as bad. Halo MCC, Biomutant, Cyberpunk, Bannerlord- the list goes on and on. And you know what, maybe the game WILL be good, maybe this one time it will actually be better off delayed. But from what I've seen, this is just history repeating itself. Don't count on it coming out anywhere near July, "targeting for" is dev-speak for "keeping your hopes up so you don't forget about our game". And again, maybe this time it will be different! But I've seen this too many times to ignore.

I literally laughed my ass off when I saw it was delayed again- even harder when I saw two Euros giving an excuse to why they'll launch essentially the same game only in a month or two. Kind of tired of this thing happening, every game that does it seems to flop pretty roughly. Consistently, without fail, this general rule of thumb seems to keep prevailing, a game made in a month is usually received better than a game made in 7 years. Time + Money =/= Quality.

Great to see developers and studios like Frozenbyte care about the their games and their players by forcing a delay at the cost of some emotional responses but with the results of a better higher quality early access launch experience. A lot of studios rush Early Access while not ready and everyone trust me that this delay and maybe many in the future will make us much happier when we finally get in then we may be now! There is no emotional response, only applause for developers pushing back their games and making excuses. I'm telling you, time and money does not equal quality. The product needs to be launched or externally tested by real players instead of just shoving it off until the day it comes out and still has lots of bugs / falsely advertised features.

i've been with starbase since first anouncement trailer so 1 month is nothing compared to this. I can wait another month but delaying in the last moment is really sad. I've planned my day , left some money to buy the game , was ready to play it , already had a couple designs i wanted to try but i guess i'll try them later :D i'd have more time to think about possible drawbacks of such designs.

Btw just a heads up on their discord the 29th is not a 100% PROMISE so expect it to be later than 29th dont make plans. I no joke booked 17th off so I could play and they leave it last minute to say anything already a sign of a bad team. I dont trust them

A lot of dates have been pushed, dont plan anything crazy for release dates here. They're a (target), lots of things could happen with new content theyve mentioned and only have a few weeks till next date to test, it could be so gamebreaking that ea is pushed for months. Personally think it would be better to just announce release 7 days in advance when everything seems fine. Its hard to guess how buggy the new features will be.

Before the early access, I would love it if more colorblind support was added for mining. As a partially color blind person, it is hard to make out the differences between the ores and the rocks in some cases.

I'm actually really glad. As an alphatester i realized real quick that while everything that's already there is Excelent (the physics the destructibility and the extremely engaging and complex engineering tasks you have are GROUNDBREAKING) The game is lacking many things normally games have and i was seriously doubting it could be all implemented in such short notice i was worried Frozenbyte was content with just realising rushed and broken features, but now I see that they too realized their mistake and are correcting it. I still doubt the new target is feasable but it's hella lot easier to pull off than the original. The core gameplay loops and making things more excessible are important to have at launch and it seems that the devs are in agreement with this statement, for all of you non testers do not worry you aren't missing tooo too much, because for the most of the alpha the core gameplay loops are not well ballanced nor well defined there is very little to do outside of ship designing and participating in some events atm... so you aren't exactly missing out epic player driven mmo wich starbase WILL be hopefully at launch but ISN'T for most of the closed alpha period. I know it must be frustrating to not being able to at least see for yourself but trust me for most of us it's more of a chore to be an alphatester a chore we do with good faith and without complaining but still limiting. Many of the recent feature video's content isn't exactly ready or might not even be avalaible for us yet at all.

You're doing the right thing! Make sure the game is getting released in a state were it won't make people tire of it/run out of content too fast. And don't overhype it too much. Keep being this transparent about the game, and you will get a nice playerbase! From my experience and how I've seen others react is, unless the game is CRAZY good and original, early access done wrong can make people quit the game and never come back. Keep up the good work! I have not tried it out myself and I am happy I get to test it when there's more content. Last time I tried a game during it's early early stages, I ended up not picking the game back up until release, and word goes around about said stuff as well. Looks very good so far! Can't wait:)) Love the originality of it all, such as the in-game custom coding. Parts, chips, bolting down parts, and robots of course where you lose limbs and can repair it etc! And not to mention the different types of destruction!

You only get one launch, and early access kind of sort of IS your launch in terms of a lot of public perception. Take the time to get the core foundation right because it will benefit everybody in the long run. This game, this development team, and this community should ALL be golden standards for video game development these days Companies now-a-days are too comfortable with releasing broken titles to their fans and players are so neglected that they will buy anything just to be able to get a word in/give feedback on development. I'm very excited to play this game. I've been watching any morsel of content I could get my hands on for months, checking out the wiki, watching livestreams etc. The key disappointment isn't from this delay which was probably the right move for an EA launch. It's from knowing a specific date when we would be able to play, then getting told to wait for a wave of invites, a chance to play that could come at any moment or not at all. I too want this game to be the best it can be because it just looks so damned cool, and there need to be more games like this. I would play Starbase in any form, ready or not and by signing up for CA I know a lot of people feel the same way. Is there any plan for who gets an invite when? Is there any way for us to get a ball park week for when our invite wave will come? I think this delay is good for EA but as someone who signed up for CA it's really disappointing to not have a solid date to look forward to now.

Thankyou for the transparency. There is nothing worse than a delay with no information to follow. It's also incredibly important to polish the game before release. Too many games have recently released half finished. That being said, I wouldn't object to an alpha key if you're still looking for more testers.

The developers should do something like. A 1 to 3 hour open alpha to see if the core frame work will even hold up to the max player count I've seen alot of these mmo sandbox games fail hard on launch two big ones where atlas and last oasis the servers couldn't even handle all the players

If there isn’t a “sandbox mode” in the game for making stuff without hitting a price/material limit based on your own balance, then there needs to be. Also, the ability to customize your character with playermade frames, armour and weapons is a must (as well as the ability to make them in the aforementioned sandbox).

Sorry for this quite negative comment. Can you please stop making fun of us with these month-long delays? If you need a year, delay the launch by a year! After this many delays it is quite clear that you're not really sure when the game will be ready for the masses but I'm 100% sure it won't be this year's July. Just as me and my friends have been sure it wasn't going to be this June. There are some people that do not care how empty and broken this game is when they get their hands on it and they want to help it become the game they see when they hear the word "Starbase". And these people have just been dissapointed by the delay because of course they have been, they're dumb, I'm dumb. But they've also been angered because of this fake July 29th release. However that "(target)" thing is really nice! Perhaps next time, make it the same text size as the entire thing. Thank you and sorry for the negativity.

Sadly this still isn't long enough for me lol. I don't have windows 10 and I'm too stubborn to buy it without upgrading my whole system. Which is overdue but it is a shame with this silicon shortage, compounded by crypto miners and scalpers buying up rtx card stocks, it doesn't look like I'll be upgrading anytime soon. It has gotten so bad I have even contemplated buying a prebuilt machine. I cannot wait to get in game and try out the Yolol system.

I understand you want the game at X state before it ships. But in 2021 people aren't blind and they can see thru your said "silver linings" and see the failings of a company. (at this point you can't blame Corona) And in these failings comes player uncertainties, uncertainties such as roll backs push players to look elsewhere. With giving dead lines then you can't make said deadlines shouldn't get you "off the hook". Show's you that there is some inner company turmoil and they aren't looking to fix that either. Just pull a rug or a mask over it. All the best, good luck.
