I loved this season almost as much as the first. I thought it was so cool watching the Yamato fly across the axis of the Comet Empire city and let loose in it.

What an awesome enemy the Comet Empire was! Arrogant to the bone, they underestimated their opponents so much that it blew on their faces!!! the Comet Empire was equal in awesomeness to the Empire in Star Wars, and the Comet itself equal in awesomeness to the Death Star!!!

I've watched the 2199, 2202, and 2205 reboots and I still remember / refer to the characters' names from the Star Blazers version. Say Derek Wildstar, Mark Venture, Eager, Dash, Nova, Sandor, Captains Avatar and Gideon, Conroy, Hardy, Sgt. Knox, Orion, Doctor Zane. IQ-9 and older anime fans know exactly who you are talking about.

I posted this on another person's video, who also showed Season 2's opening; my apologies for being self-indulgent: I still remember the first time I watched Star Blazers. It was a Season 2 episode, and I knew nothing about the backstory. I did not know the significance of the Star Force. I knew little about IJN Yamato. None of that mattered. The first 15 seconds of this intro hooked me, the episode itself - where the Star Force stole the Yamato / Argo and Mark Venture was conflicted whether to join them - kept me hooked. In 40+ years, I've never lost any love for this franchise.

The editing, timing, and overall production of this intro is absolutely perfect and ridiculously epic. The localization team who worked on Star Blazers is first-rate… way better than the Disney Star Wars trailers, for sure (and much better than the Japanese original, which is rare).

To me, The Comet Empire was one of the best all time science fiction villains. They looked invincible and teamed up with Desslok, I thought there was no way the Star Force would defeat them.

+ultris07 oh they absolutely will reboot the Comet Empire. There are hints in season 1, in the episode where the Yamato frees prisoners stranded on a planet. These prisoners are green, because they are from the Comet Empire.
