I am glad you added the "+1.0 highly recommended" the first time I tried the 1700 wing (foil-X 145) it was with a -0.5 and the negative lift prevented me from flying, it was that bad. Finally tried the +1.0 and was able to sail but still a lot of back foot pressure, called my local dealer and they are locating a 105 fuselage for me. Hopefully there is not a supply issue with these things!

Good stuff, glad the tip helped. Might be worth setting the footstraps in the furthest back position too to help with the lift. Let us know how you get on with the longer fuselage!

Great information. More please! I own a Freeride foil board and would like more information on setup options, not screws but changing conditions, back wing setup. Subtle changes like if I move the mast base all the way back for light wind what should I be thinking about regarding the foil setup. Compare the 1100 set with the 1300 setup. Etc. Not an advertisement 😀

Hello, what is the angle of the mast in that configuration, or what do you think is the best angle for the SuperCruiser and small foiling boards like 100-120L, in low wind conditions of 8-10 knots? I also noticed that the tail on your board is slightly submerged. Does this hinder the initial acceleration of the board to the foiling speed? Do you have any advice on how to more easily initiate foiling with such small boards?

Hi I believe the Alu mast sits at 87 degrees. A 90 degree mast would give more lift providing it doesn't affect the angle of the wings/fuselage and simple moves it all further forward. I've not changed the mast angle before so can't comment any further. For this particular session I set the board up with the footstraps and UJ right at the back to give the most lift and manoeuvrability as the wind was dropping off very quickly. That's likely why the tail might look like it was sinking but wasn't noticeable when sailing. For small boards efficient pumping with the sail and legs is the key to unstick the board from the water! The lighter the wind the more you have to work to take off and keep up on the foil. Hope this helps!

Hello 1. Have you tried using this starboard mast with JP Australia boards? In my case, Deep Turtle does not fit together because there is a 10mm misalignment in both drilled holes. 2. What is the minimum speed required for levitation for foils such as Super Crusader, Superflyer, and Freerider.

Hi, We've not tried Starboard Foils with JP Boards. It's recommended to use Starboard Boards with Starboard Foils as these products are designed to work together. Regarding the minimum speed there's too many variables to be able to give a figure. Hope this helps!

Hi, I use a JP Hydrofoil 155 2020? board together with a SB first generation Supercruiser foil and it is not a perfect fit in that I have to tilt the mast a little bit forward in the box to get the screws to align before tighten them but other than that NO problems. I weight 85 kg and if I pump the sail and board I estimate I can start flying in less than ten knots of wind using a 6.5 sail.

@@allanasp771 ok, the more sophisticated idea is to measure the board speed when levitate starts than measure wind speed. It avoid stuff like sail and direction. The older mast has more place to drill but mast could break because of that. I already drilled the board.

What length bolts are you using to hold the mast into the board? Are they torx bolts? I have the 2020 FoilX145 and Supercruiser set up, but it didn’t come with as good an assembly guide!

Hi Rob, for this video I used the two screws that came with the board (torx fitting) which I believe are m6 x 45 and 50mm length. The length of the screws required can sometimes vary depending which board/foil mast you use so might be worth enquiring with your local Starboard retailer to pick up a range of bolts to keep you covered. Torx fin bolts are in stock in the UK in lengths 35mm up to 65mm.

I am using 65mm & 70mm torx screws with washers and vinyl rubber washers to keep them tight. Foil-X 145 & evolution foil.

Hi Matt. I recently upgraded my 2022 Freeride setup with the Evolution 105 fuselage which is great with either the 1500 or 1300 foil. Question what are your thoughts on the use of the 102 fuselage for the Freeride now that I’m kind of locked into the 105? Also is the 102 fuselage a good option for the FoilX which you mentioned is your go to board. A friend has the 145 and he is interested in purchasing the Evolution setup. He is going to test mine when we are next on the water but I’m curious what you think 102 or 105 for his FoilX 145 setup? Thanks.

Hi Tom, thanks for getting in touch. Question what are your thoughts on the use of the 102 fuselage for the Freeride now that I’m kind of locked into the 105? - Using the 102cm will certainly make the foil feel more manoeuvrable and less locked in as it brings the front wing back toward the mast. 102 or 105 for his FoilX 145 setup? - The Foil X is a very adaptable board, it'll work really well with either foil set up. Depending on your friend's level they could start with either the standard freeride or super flyer set up and then get an additional fuselage or front wing etc later. I hope this helps!

Can you get an adaptor for deep tuttle foil to US . I would like to get the starboard foil x wing and my foil that as a deep tuttle wont fit this ? Thaks

Hi Nick. Starboard currently only do a 'foilbox head' to US top plate adapter. There are aftermarket shims etc that you can get to do what you're trying to do however I'm not experienced in this area so would struggle to advise any further.
