My first guess would be because of turnover, second would be because fast food workers arent aware of unions. My third reason and this is from experience, getting employees onboard to start a union is hard. I delivered furniture and appliances for the largest home furniture retailer in the midwest as a subcontractor and I asked a few of the older guys that had been there for years why they never started a union. One person felt it wasnt worth it and another said he tried but he couldnt get people onboard. I could go into more detail about the races, political ideologies and financial prospects of the type of people that did this kind of work, but those are simpler answers for you

The reason why most companies do this is because they don't want to be liable if their employee gets injured on the job and then sues the company. It's happened many times where employees would sue a company for getting hurt while trying to protect the store. This is why you see videos of all these shoplifters stealing and no employees tries to stop them because they dont want to get fired or possibly hurt. A Lot of stores are closing due to shoplifters and vandalizing, especially in the Bay Area like San Francisco and Oakland.

I don't know. I'm kind of conflicted on this one. I initially felt like everyone else, Starbucks sucks and I get it, people are upset with Starbucks because they fired the employee for fighting back. In this particular case, he saved the day but I also understand their perspective. Their perspective is that this employee may have put the rest of his peers lives in Jeopardy by fighting. You never know what other weapons these clowns might have and it could have turned out to be much worse. The gun might be fake but what if they had knives? Or other weapons that might injure the other employees.
