Pretty much where I'm at in life. I was never allowed to go out with friends, have friends over, do any extra curricular activities in/after school/etc, so I legit have never really known what I even like. I do like cars/car stuff as well, but I definitely understand when this guy said he wouldn't want to be a mechanic. I work on cars on the side, but damn, it's too much bs these days. I ended up being a nanny, married young, became a stay at home mom who works part time at a janitor and I'm I write for Kindle Vella. My husband went to college for graphic design and ended up becoming a machinist/programmer. You never know where you could end up.

I worked at Starbucks in high school and had a coworker who went on extremely lavish vacations 3-4 times a year. He’d travel all by himself most times too. After I quit, he eventually confessed to me that he has to file for bankruptcy from all the credit card debt he racked up during these trips. Then covid happened and nobody could travel. But now that countries are opening back up, he’s traveling again! And he still works at Starbucks!! 🤔

To any Starbucks partners looking for more hours: Ask around and see if there’s a group chat or something similar for baristas and SSVs in your area to exchange hours or look for coverage. You can also ask your manager to borrow you over to other stores based on your availability and other stores’ needs. Or call other stores, ask to speak to manager or ASM, and tell them you’re a partner near by and looking for hours. Between being borrowed over to a different store and taking shifts from my district’s group chat, I typically am able to pick up an extra 10-15 hrs a week.

To add to this, you get mileage too for covering shifts at other stores so it helps pay for gas if you have to travel if you live in an area that have one Starbucks a town like where I'm at.

A 21 year old male already gets racked by insurance companies, if they knew he was loaning out his car, you bet they are going to really stick him. Unless, the car is owned by his company and he doesn’t use it personally. They will not pay you if someone else wrecks your car.

@@jackyack7850 these platforms business plan relies on new inexperienced people doing insurance fraud and taking on expensive car loans that they then gift the equity in that to the platform for the platform users to use at a discount.. that’s why they advertise to always get people to join and naively make the initial investment not realising the risks they are taking on for very little gain. Basically taking advantage of people not crunching the accounting numbers and not being aware of the legal language in their insurance policy.

Caleb i have an idea: What if during these audits you model things on Excel (or something similar) like interest rates accruing on cc balances, depreciation over time on vehicles, retirement/savings funds, etc. I think you may have a greater affect on these guests if they SAW what bad financial decisions are costing them in the long term. And you can easily get stuck between two insurances refusing to pay you while you can be sued by anyone as the car owner.

That's why the app does. It works the same way for uber drivers. The uber policy becomes primary over their personal policy if the vehicle is impacted while in the course of using uber. And yes. Uber tracks everything about your activities and will let your insurance carrier know so you cannot lie about it. They track your speed down to the seconds and any sudden stops you may experience.

With his obsession with renting cars I’d recommend he try apply for the Management Trainee Program with Enterprise. We’re always short staffed at the branches. All you need is a drivers license and associates to be qualified. Plus pay is way better than Starbucks with good benefits too.

But if you wanted to be a Customer Experience representative at an Airport location you do not need any college education! MT Program is better for career progression/promotions. But both are full time and offer full benefits packages!

It’s not irresponsible that he decided to hold off on education until he picked a direction - it probably saved him from being in a big debt hole - but at some point he had to actually decide what he’s doing with his life and get off the pointless Starbucks and gig scheme cycle. A house at 25? Zero chance, but if he wants one at 30 it’s time for a job with actual prospects. It’s time to spend all his time figuring out what he can actually DO as a real, lucrative career and go in that direction,

He’s literally 21, most 21 year olds can barely find their backside at that age. I went to uni at 22 after years of deliberation but now, I’m 25 and still don’t even really know what I wanna do. I’m an RN but like, there’s so much I wanna do. You can’t expect a 21 y/o to have it all together. I think he can chill, work an okay job full time until he fully decides what he wants to do. No point in jumping in something and still being unsure if it’s for you. He’s a baby, can still live at home for a while if he wants

Since then I’ve had some tough times, went to school and it wasn’t for me, and now I make $1,300/week doing doordash. I’m starting the process of becoming an electrician with the local Union chapter. I’m 30 now. He can figure it out

It’s a big deal to commit to a career for the rest of your life (another 40/50 years) at 21 and the concept that you have to have it all together at that age is ridiculous too. If you don’t know what you want to do, explore, try different things in your 20s and see what interests you, or what you’re passionate about whilst your still young and have less responsibility. As long as you are working full time and paying your bills, then there’s nothing wrong with that. There is no positive in jumping into a industry/career and realising you hate it later on in life. That’s no bueno. Because then you may have responsibilities, kids, a family, mortgage. That’s in fact the worst time to take those risks and change careers 💕

Budgeting takes patience and determination to make it work. I have learned I am not patience enough to do so as I got older. I got married at 20 and was actually wiser with finance because we bought our first home at 22 (when things were so much more affordable). But the discipline was there to monitor where the money was going. I am on a one way road to be back on track. I realized one can easily go off track if not careful.

My initial reaction was that Caleb is being kind of hard on him, he's certainly doing better than most 21 year olds, by a long shot. I do understand where Caleb is coming from though, he is scared for Tarean and wants to make sure he's scared as well so he fixes the issues before they get out of control. That's so true. I was choosing between a $500 apartment with utilities included and a $700-900 apartment with no utilities, and the $500 one had a bunch of units get shot to hell right after I had looked at it. I guess endangering random people is one way to ensure apartments in your neighborhood stay cheap.

I saved the majority of my income because I live with my parents and didn’t really spend money on anything besides spending when I go with my girlfriend at the time. Then I got a large sum of money to me from taxes and went crazy. I’m not sure what happened but for 8 months straight I spent about 2 thousand dollars a month on my credit card even though I only made around 1.5k a month. It was all Uber, eating out, gifts, games and whatever else I felt like buying that day. I never missed a payment because I watched the statements due dates and even borrowed money from my sister, but the stress and anxiety was awful. Watching your videos helped me get back on track and stay on track. I’m only spending around 500 or less a month again. I fully paid off my sister and I’m still paying off a few couple things but I’m on the right track again. I’m grateful to not have any debt and finally start saving for an emergency fund and car fund. And yes I plan to get another job because I do not get paid enough.

Car rental is not worth it. My first renter with Turo stole the car, had to go to his house with the police to repo it. He had also crashed the car on top of stealing it. Turo app would not help at all!

I think he got in love with the idea of being a business owner because he prefers the "identity" it gives him over just saying "I work for Starbucks and Walmart" because it makes no sense at all to keep doing that "side hustle" when it's not making you any money. Being able to buy cars so young probably was really ego-boosting, and it's really hard to accept that it wasn't a good idea.

As a Fort Worth native, I had a one bedroom apartment in Clearfork for 1180 a month, which is a very nice neighborhood with all your need and wants within 10 min. 1400+ is not far off I will say, but I would say 60% of one bedrooms are well below 1200 a month that are still accessible in safe, comfortable parts of town.

For the finding an apartment situation, there are Rental Lease agents. They are free of charge, and will find rentals based on the requirements you provide them with.

All those credit cards scare me... especially when half of them he doesn't like. Just close them now, take the hit while you are in a relatively good place, stop playing the credit card points game and find 1 or 2 with good cash back and/or rewards and move forward with those. Not even going to get into the absolutely bad idea I think the "Uber of rental cars" thing is, especially in a state that's less than a half a days ride from the Mexican border.

I hold a 4-year college diploma, and landed in a career I love that makes great money, and doesn’t require a college diploma. I have great health insurance, 6-weeks of paid time off, and hundreds of hours worth of sick leave. While statistics may not lie, they rarely account for the whole truth.

Why sell a perfectly good paid off car in a declining market? Sunk cost applies here. Buying a cheaper car is like ditching a parachute mid air for another parachute. Highly illogical. Just ride the depreciation and the market down. The extra cash will be of no benefit with the high inflation. His primary goal should be to increase his w-2 income through upskilling/job switching. He should stay at his current place or move back in with his parents but thats a more personal decision that i have no say about just something to think about. He should only go back to school if his degree is 100 percent paid for via starbucks, scholarships or grants and the degree should be in STEM, maybeeee business if hes not stem inclined at all.
