The whole point of the mission is to know (the hard way) that the protoss factions need each other. That's why is more efficient to mix Aiur warriors, Nerazim, Taldarins and Purifiers, to exploit the best of all them. That's the idea of protoss unity.

yeah with the all-aiur set up carriers are your only real anti-air. Dark archons would have crushed this mission tho. They're pretty gas heavy at the start, but once you get rolling, its pretty darn good
@hiway198916 жыл бұрын
I was running mass Dar Archons, you not only can mind control the big unites, they also work as a downgraded version of normal Archons, and you don’t have to merge them so the production is smoother and you can warp them without picking warp harmonization. My strategy was warp in some energizers and put them on the Alarak and Vorazun side, and some at the Karax side if his energizers got destroyed (which they will), and start production on the Dark Archons, the energizers alone with the starter pack team (2 warriors, 2 rangeds, 2 robotics) can help each sides for their defense against the first wave. And static defense is very important, since running on Dark Archons will leave you a lots of unused minerals, you can build some shield batteries and spare some for cannons and monoliths. Them the fun part is you can get as much Carriers and Tempests, sometimes Guardians if you have too much energy to spend, and they don’t cost supplies at all (don’t know if it’s a bug and could be fix, but at least in my play through it didn’t). And I’m talking about Brutal difficulty, of course.

Today, that lie must come to its end, and with it, our prejudice and arrogance must become a thing of the past. For we now fight in the belief that our kind has not seen its end. That we protoss can stand bound by a belief in unity. And that we protoss will forge a great and mighty new civilization! *Trust in each other* in the fight ahead. *Strike as one will! That would imply that, if Kerrigan died and if the timelines correspond with eachother, Amon would be conquering all the Terran worlds and protoss worlds in the same time that it took Artanis to gather his forces and re-launch the attack on Aiur. Wich means that the vision of the overmind was about a very near future after Jim Raynor attacked Char. He would have been able to conquer everything a lot quicker if he had the entire Swarm at his service

A couple of things that I want to mention about that last cinematic: 1. Artanis begging Selendis, and by extension all of the freed Protoss, to 'Believe.' is really powerful, at least to me. The Protoss on Aiur, as Rohana implies, have every reason to free themselves from the Khala on the basis they have directly experienced the torture of Amon's possession - and yet they know nothing else and there is no time to explain the new vision that Artanis and his companions have created aboard the Spear of Adun. All that they can rely upon is belief that they can survive beyond the Khala's end. Even beyond that, however, it is Artanis himself who declares that the Protoss must now forge a society 'bound by a belief in unity', not by the imposed, psionic unity of the Khala. The plea to 'Believe.' is thus not just a call to trust him but a call to both throw themselves into the void beyond everything that they know and to fulfil the new ideal of what it means to be Protoss. 2. There are obviously more Templar in the Golden Armada beyond those that the cutscene shows us. From that, one may question how Artanis' plea resulted in all of them severing their nerve cords. This reveals a huge irony. Amon, at that moment, was imprisoned within the Keystone - and so the Khala was functional again and the Khalai connected by it thus able to communicate through it. This undoubtedly was what allowed Artanis' message to be so far-reaching; furthermore, the surge of determination that would have run through it would have given even those with the greatest fears and doubts the surety to follow through. The last success of the Khala was to secure its own destruction.
@FBI-ju5no2 жыл бұрын
Ironically, the Khala isn't truly gone. While all present protoss may not be connected to it, unless they continue to sever the nerve cords of all newly born protoss, they could have the khala again, and there's no reason not to, given how Amon isn't around any more.

Hello Lowko! My recommendations for next campaigns: RTS - Dawn of War series (minus DoW3 and maybe Soulstorm expansion to DoW1); Command and Conquer 3 with expansion; City builders - Tropico 4 and 5 with expansions Out of love I'd say to try one of grand strategy games by Paradox - Europa Universalis 4, Stellaris, Crusader Kings 2. But only out of love (and addiction). They're quite pricey with specific DLC policy by Paradox and to be honest they're not so YT friendly as normal strategy games. RPG - maybe some classics? Enhanced editions for Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate saga, Icewind Dale saga and recently Neverwinter Nights (though last one still requires some patches, from what I read). Maybe Witcher series, if you're able to withstand combat system in Witcher 1 (most people find it boring, unintuitive and overall bad). FPS - DOOM (2016) if you haven't played it yet, really great game. I would also recommend Borderlands series, but there're some issues with it. While all 3 games can be played solo, they're way more fun in coop. And 2nd issue is, that there's no level scaling and no difficulty setting. And you start to outlevel locations quite fast, if you do all quests. Challenging game starts only at 3rd walkthrough (system similar to Diablo 1 and 2).

Carriers will repair damaged units, and all of these units are mechanical. Vanguards and Colossi/Reavers will deal with ground units especially Zerg. There are many ways to complete this mission. Actually matrix overload is good for this mission even without energizers, because you can just put pylons all around your base and your army basically has a constant speed boost, helps them both fight and run around different entrances to defend. I grabbed carriers for repairs, either destroyers or void rays will benefit greatly from the speed boost. If I use destroyers I also pick havocs to boost their range, if I pick void rays I would probably use energizers to speed them up further since they dont need the havoc range boost with their charging anyway.

@Lowko: you've asked for good games to play after you finish StarCraft, right? Well, look no further. It appears you are tragically uninformed about the beauty that is Supreme Commander yet; do not fear, I'll do my best to showcase it to you. SupCom is one of the best in the Total Annihilation series of games, where hordes of autonomous drone units are duking it out for the single human element on the field, the ACU, or Armoured Command Unit, that is constantly ramping up the production of those drones, is a decent combatant itself and could be upgraded for a variety of tasks. SupCom has a great combination of awesome story, unique gameplay, and incredible versatility. SupCom has a different economy structure compared to most strategy games you can find - it is based on fluent income (you receive and spend a number of units per second, and finding a good balance is key for victory) and you can shift your focus between eco, build power, infrastructure, unit production, or most commonly a balanced mix of the above to constantly expand and develop your overall strength. It does not have a cap on any of the above, so games could last for hours if the opponents are decent enough not to be affected by fatigue. SupCom is much more strategic and less dependant on micro; while micro is possible and is often used by pro players, there's usually so many strategic decisions waiting that are more profitable in terms of player attention, that microing is not worth it in the long run unless you specifically arrange yourself a window of opportunity for it. When you do, however, there's an immense payback for it. The strategic aspects are best shown by the map, that could be zoomed out from a single unit, to the whole map, in a single scroll, and zoom back in to the mouse pointer location. You can address one point of interest, zoom out, shift your mouse, zoom in to a different point on the map, and deal with a completely different situation, faster and more precise than with a minimap. Of course, unit group binding and location binding, not unlike StarCraft, are also possible and very helpful, so you won't be lost in navigation, either. However, the most brilliant part of SupCom is its story; the Infinite War is a galactic struggle of epic proportions that you can feel as massive, overwhelming all-out warfare, and each mission as a greater part of a whole. You are but one person, that is but a single gear in the huge mechanism of war, but you are still a crucial part of it, and it's well conveyed by the narrative. The characters are well portrayed, with their motives and drives displayed extremely well, with each person sympathetic and understandable, while still working and rooting for different goals and beliefs to each other. The factions, like their leaders, are also well developed, with different goals and perspectives, and tactics and strategies they deploy are based directly on the factions' leanings. Their attitude even shows in the design philosophy they employ - UEF units are robust and blocky, Cybrans' are spiky and all hard edges (it helps with stealth), Seraphim are when physics go cry in a corner, while Aeon Illuminate uses rounded and sleek forms. While saying anything else on the campaign will probably be spoiler worthy, I would only say that it is worth every second you spend on it - and there will be a lot, with each mission taking hours, with multiple stages and noticeable progress from the beginning of each mission to the end of it. After the original campaign, the Forged Alliance expansion awaits, and it is just as great, if not better. Now that that is out of the way, let us talk about shiny things. Here you can find a couple videos depicting the general beauty of any SupCom game (and explosions. Because the two are inseparable): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aISvfGiqrNGaqMk kzbin.info/www/bejne/npW4Z42rZqZ7o7c Here's a excellent match cast that you will never find is SC ladder, because no game has fluent enough economy to support non-mirror maps. SupCom laughs in their faces with 2v2v2 map: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKnp6p4eLRkb80 If you have other tastes, Gyle's casts are dedicated to SupCom, and you can find all sorts of matches there to chose from: kzbin.info While the original developer is no longer supporting this game, the community has taken it upon itself to uphold the greatness of SupCom, and have been since releasing balance patches, expanding the arsenal, and generally improving the game as much as possible. You can get Forged Alliance Forever (free) here: faforever.com/ In conclusion, I would say that you simply must check it out - it will brighten your day by quite a large margin. Few games could embody "strategy" that well, and SupCom is one of the best in that regard. Try it out!

Hm I'm not so sure about the campaign story.. the multiplayer however might be even better than Starcraft (imo, of course). Glad to see more fans out there When considering an RTS with an immersive campaign story line I'd recommend World in Conflict

If you want an interesting strategy you should try corsair and dts with shadow strike with having 1 gateway and 1 stargate next to karas since he can boost the production speed on both buildings near him and with crone surge it's pretty much op. The corsair static web spam and dts shadow strike make an amazing combo :D
