I like how everyone in the comments is saying "Zerg OP" after that first game but don't notice that Oliveira never did any critical damage to Solar's bases. Yeah, he killed 100 drones and a couple of hatcheries, but his armies were gettting destroyed at minimal contact with the lings and banes, giving Solar more than enough time to replenish his worker count. Oliveira was also floating hundreds of minerals all the time, while Solar was a lot more efficient. Solar was a lot better at micro too. And on top of that, Oliveira didn't make Siege Tanks, like, THE unit that counters Zerg? That first game was won by starvation. It was like watching someone hop into a F1 car trying to crash into someone's house miles away, but forgetting to refuel on the road.

You're not really countering the accusation, you're just explaining it. Terran can destroy the Zerg's economy again and again but it doesn't matter because Terran armies melt against even the most basic Zerg units while Zerg easily rebuilds everything they lose. You're right that he should've gone Siege Tanks and turtle because that's the only real counter to Zerg which just shows you how broken TvZ is.

Zerlings gain an insane amount of value with the upgrades and the ability to morph to banes. Tricky unit for sure.

@@polca4love : Well,they're supposed to be the zerg most basic unit,so it makes sense for them to be quite versatile,marines have always had an insane amount of cost-efficiency too.

@@polca4love : In my opinion the race with the less efficient basic unit is protoss,marines,as I already said,are extremely good from early to late game and are the only starting unit that can shoot up in the air,zerglings are both a good attack unit and a good harassing unit and they're not a bad scouting unit either while zealots are tanky but they lack the versatility of their counterparts.

It's been a while since we had a game from the world champion.. I'm curious to know more of his playstyle.. Apparently since IEM Katowice is the biggest tournament for the year, you are title to be the world champion and in this case, Oliveira or once known as 'Time'

I do like that with Lowko (and Winter as well) the thumbnail/title is not a spoiler. A player can have a cool strat/great moment despite ultimately losing the game and I like that you two get it!

hate to break it to you, but like 9/10 times when lowko shows some tactical highlight of Player X in a thumbnail, Player X will lose at least that match. i've commented it on his videos before (adressed to him), since i'm not sure if its a habit he's actually aware of or not.

NGL, I’m a Terran kinda guy and I’m loving the attention. Though I do feel your pain. A few years ago it was always a Zerg in the mix, and TvP were the rarities. Mass Infestor balls, ViperCorruptor/Broodlord and such. The high level guys made it look interesting but I do remember the severe lack of TvP and TvT back then.

Solar's style isn't flashy enough to make it to the thumbnail/title. But it's incredibly effective. Not quite Serral but great defense and dare I say relentless multi-tasking which distracts and prevents Oliveira's attacks from doing critical damage. The side that wins here is controlled by the player who played better. Good players are imba, not races :-)

I think the reason why they take the "wrong" base, instead of the middle has psychological reasons. Because the opponent assumes it might not have been taken if the middle base is not taken

Do you think the 1st game demonstrated that zero op? Why Oliviera deserved to lose: 1. He used widow mines too much. His pushes never had any backbone because he didn't have any tank lines. His widow mine harassment was spectacular, but he should not have pushed with it. Mixing in both would have been the right call. 2. Because he always had widow mines he was never able to do a large push and take 2 mining hatcheries at once, which is usually game ending. 3. Too much liberator harrassment. He could have achieved the same thing on undefended hatcheries with bio drops and gotten the hatchery too. 4. Sloppy control. Tanks allow you to look away, widow mines do not. He lost some ghosts to a mis-rally, several clumps of marines to banelings, and was hit by 1 massive fungel. 5. Poor defense. Solar's rare attacks dealt heavy damage to Oliviera's economy that took him a long time to recover from. Maru and Byun would have won this game. Serral would of made it look easy. This game did not demonstrate Zerg op in any way. Oliviera's poor decisions cost him the game deservedly. (If you kill 2 of Zergs mining bases at once and continue the aggression it is usually considered gg because terran forces are more cost efficient if controlled well, and his strategy never tried to achieve that or any other game ending maneuver)

While killing 100 drones might look like a game winning move, the problem is that terran also loses quite a lot of units in the process of harassment, and zerg has easiest time producing workers of all races. I think going after tech structures would work better. No banelings/no hive = dead zerg.

Always take spawning pool first. It is the backbone of zerg early-midgame. You will force zerg into supply block and deny them lingbane for minutes as queens are the zerg economy

Drones have 40 HP, a spawning pool has 1000, so in theory, you can kill 25 workers rather than the spawningpool (they can escape, but you get the point.) Sniping non-important tech isn't that good of an investment. 5 drones killed is 5 larvae lost!!

I think widow mines splash dmg should only cause damage depending on what it targets. If it targets air units like overseer, it should only splash dmg among air units, and if it shoots to ground units, then the splash should only affect ground units

Haha no. That would be a massive buff to Terran Bio and instantly break the game. Medivacs would be immune from friendly splash removing risk and even counterplay micro.

And that really showed how bad Oliveira played - Look at the income graph and he was behind most of the game. Cost efficient? Wut? That is not a good thing in TvZ if the Zerg has a massive eco lead. His multi-taksing was weak AF - cringe watching him yoloing army into banes. Oliveira has played much better than this before.

Firstly, Solar was on top of his macro, so he was re-droning non-stop. Secondly, there wasn't a moment where he was broke and lost like 40 drones instantaneously. Given those two facts, 100 lost drones is just 100 larvae + 5000 minerals over 24 minutes in a heavy macro game. Which is nothing. And like Hivetech said, Oliveira was behind economically for the entire match, so those drone kills weren't gaining him an economic advantage - they were allowing him to stay competitive. Eventually, after almost 24 minutes of tiny economic victories and no crippling tech or army damage, he made a ginormous mistake at 23:45, leading his army into a surround, and lost. The fact that he didn't lose sooner is a testament to how disgustingly op Terran is.

By "rigid" do you mean "sturdy?" Rigid usually has a negative connotation - I would have interpreted a rigid build as one that you have to commit to and you won't be able to shift later if your needs change.

The fact that you can be down so far as zerg and come back with as much loss as solar has and still win the game should show you the inbalance of the game sure there is skill in being any of the factions especially zerg but they are really broken as a faction within this game and have been for quite a while

Skill issue? More like imba issue. In no strategy game where losing 100 workers is considered ok, not even in SC1. Eco Harrasment has always been a thing in any strategy game and when it doesn’t matter like Zerg in SC2, then what’s the point of harassing? Bad game design that is.

Bane bust, straight ling flood, 5 roach/rav (modified lambos build), two base muta (used to be a very popular build), queen march/german taxi, nydus rush…. If you’re denied the third and immediately swap to any of those strategies, you’ll be at the opponents door by about 8 mins at the latest (assuming you’re at least masters level skill, which obviously solar and any other pro is WAY above).

Lol, almost all champions in tourney are Zerg players. Did you notice that almost no western player who competes against Koreans pick terrans or Protoss? Because they know the skill gap is so big that playing as Zerg is the only way to compete. That’s how OP Zerg is, the race allows escape goat from eco harassments and easy to re mass eco and army. That’s just insane.
