When Jim says “I’ve been down that path before,” it’s easy to forget that Jim totally had a wife and kid who died long before before he ever met Kerrigan. I wonder if they ever addressed that anywhere outside of the Starcraft manga...

Well for anyone having trouble with this mission, there is always a cliff close the each Nexus you can use to land vikings on and bait units uo to here. Also, Vikings have slightly more range than the Purifier itself, making it so, if you attack it from behind while it moves, it will never attack you or use any ability.
@retloclive911810 жыл бұрын
Kind of late regarding this, but I always considered the true canon path for WoL to be whatever planet is all the way on the left when you're choosing missions. Kinda like reading a book where you always start from the left. And of course, you'd play through all the Zeratul missions the moment you get it after The Dig.

I just realized, Raynor says "Nexii", while Horner says "Nexuses". I wonder which one is correct.
@randomguy21-876 жыл бұрын
In English, both Nexus and Nexuses are correct, Nexi is not correct. In Latin, Nexus is a 4th declension noun so the singular nominative is Nexus and the plural nominative is also Nexus: "Our Nexus their Nexus both Nexus" Nexi is incorrect no matter what; on the other hand, the plural for the Protoss unit Colossus is Colossi, since it comes from Greek language.

i think what selendis says in the begining presenting herself to Jim its prove that she is not the executor from brood wars.
@Blazieth5 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. While it certainly seems to imply they're not overly familiar with each other, keep in mind that the Episode 4 Executor really didn't interact with Raynor much. After the first level, Raynor was out of the picture, and had no more interaction with the Protoss outside Fenix's forces for the rest of Brood War. Also, she was, IIRC, directly confirmed to be the Executor from the Enslavers second campaign with Ulrezaj.
@matt_canon4 жыл бұрын
To add to what Blazieth said. -- During the briefing for EP4 Mission 1 "Escape From Aiur", Artanis introduces himself by name to the new EP4 Executor. As the former was the EP3 Executor, this would mean Selendis was "elsewhere" throughout the mission related events of Episodes 1-3, to include the death of the Overmind. -- "Escape From Aiur" was brief, with the only one-way communication from Raynor (via radio) being that he intended to stay behind and cover their escape through the warp gate. After that, 4 years would have passed between that first mission and this one, validating what she says in this briefing. --That being said-- The contradiction I find is her hostility with Zeratul in the Legacy of the Void cutscene above Aiur, calling him an untrustworthy traitor; whereas Artanis is more cordial and willing to hear him out. Taking the events in Brood War into consideration, I can't see how Selendis would see Zeratul any differently than Artanis. -- I'm only familiar with the storylines of the games though. If anything happened between Brood War and SC2 that put them at odds with each other, I wouldn't know.

@@matt_canon In Heart of the Swarm, Zeratul mentions that his intention to lead Kerrigan to Zerus (and in a way, help her become the Queen of Blades again) because of the prophecy made his own people hate him. Taking Artanis being the executor of episode 3 into consideration, this does explain why Artanis is more willing to hear his old friend out, since this wasn't the first time Zeratul seemingly betrayed his fellow Protoss in a gambit. You can also see in the alternate timeline of In Utter Darkness where Zeratul didn't help her because she was dead that Selendis is a lot friendlier towards Zeratul, although that may also have to do with the universe ending and old animosity not mattering so much anymore.
@CheeseOfLore2 жыл бұрын
Nice detail, actually. When Raynor refers to plural of the word Nexus, "Nexii", Horners refers to them as Nexuses. It must be because of the events of Starcraft 1 and Raynor's alliance with Protoss back in the day.

I know its too early for this topic as media blitz hasn't been completed yet but... what if Mengsk is being controlled by Amon. One question is why Tychus, who we all know is being controlled by Mengsk, doesn't kill Raynor? Not only because Mengsk needs to kill his reputation first or because he'd instantly get killed if he picked a fight with the crew, but because Amon needs the Xel 'Naga artifact to remove the threat of Kerrigan and collect enough energy for his resurrection. Also, in regards to Media Blitz, Tychus was in the Odin, so i think they could have handled Raynors Raiders seeing as how the Dominion has way more troops, and the Raiders have one capital ship, compared to how many the Dominion has. Amon knew that Kerrigan could claim the power of Zerus, so he had Mengsk order Tychus to kill her so that wouldn't happen. Donny Vermilion claims they are "at war" with the Protoss, even though the Protoss aren't doing crap to them, so that might be a reference to Amon planning to exterminate the Protoss. Not only that but Mengsk is breeding the Protoss/Zerg hybrid, which would require the help of Narud, who is Amons servant. Maybe he worried the Terrans might be a threat to his plan, so he had Mengsk rebel in hope he could take control of the terrans in the sector, but didn't expect Raynor to rebel against Mengsk. Maybe the Psi Emitters were fake, and Amon ordered the zerg to slaughter the Confederates on Antiga and Tarsonis. Mengsk might have been a ploy in order to distract Kerrigan from Amon, should she learn about him. Mengsk banned the trading of these artifacts to make sure no one would get to them before Moebius, so that Kerrigan could be killed, but only after Kerrigan strengthened the Swarm. Of course this is just a theory, and could very easily, and probably will be proven false. Also, in regards to the Artifact, why didn't Narud order the Tal'Darim to leave the Artifact Fragments?
@danielk9342 жыл бұрын
Dude, you are right, considering that Mobuis foundation was sponsored by Dominion, and leader of Mobius is Narud, servant of Amon, so logically Mengsk played according to Amon wishes. Tychus could be not under full monitor of Mengsk, more like Narud observed him, and for Narud media Blitz mission was unimportant, sadly Blizzard did not add more information, that would be awesome to see

I always sided with the Protoss. I guess I just never could buy into the lighter/optimistic tone of SC2 compared to the darker, grey world of SC1/BW. I didn't buy into a backwater scientist figuring out how to cure a highly mutative alien virus with little to no information to work from, in a comparatively poorly equipped lab while on the go in a military ship in such a short amount of time. It just never seemed feasible to me, so I choose to purge every time (I used the mission archive to play the alternate level for the achievements).

i just make my vikings fellow the purifier from behind the direction of where it's going and out range it. i away though that Dr.Hason got desperate and come under pressure and that became her downfall and used herself as a test subject.

I like your vuds guy, but can in offer some tips? when your Vikings get in the red, send them back to base for repairs by an scv and bring up a fresh one to replace each one being repaired, that easy you maintain fully ready Vikings in your attack and defense forces. Aldo since the protoss send sir units to attack your base why not out up some AA turrets to protect it without tying up your mobile Vikings?

i think if you were gonna chose to save Hanson then maybe you shoulda held off on this mission, as she does have more things to say after every mission, i always waited to do this mission the very last before going to Char, Triva, alot of people dont know that Jim actually did settle down for a bit with a women on a planet and had a son who grew up and joined the military as a ghost, though he unfortunately died while in a dropship, i think this was the time around the first SC1 timeline or after it, Jim coulda been referencing that when he said he took a shot at a normal life a long time ago
