I did the Joja path once for the achievement. It's quite unrewarding and the item you get at the end is a spit in the face. You get a Joja Cola machine that produces one can of cola (a trash item) a day....

Rewatching this just for fun. By now, I actually did a Joja run (for the achievement), regardless of Aavak believing me or not^^ Let me tell you that I quickly got to regret it: It's extremely boring and unrewarding. If you focus on making money, you can beat the Joja storyline by fall of year one already. And guess what your reward is. A machine that produces 1 can of Joja Cola a day.... That's right, all your efffort for an item that produces one piece of trash that you can get from fishing every day. Never, ever again will I side with Joja. To hell with them.

I didn't get to show off the wilderness farm as much until late at night (I was looking for monsters) but it highlights more of the differences then. It definitely has a different layout, a massive pond in the south-west, and more cliffs around the perimeter.

I never understood the stigma against dumpster diving. I mean i get that its not exactly clean, and sure there are scallywags that do it with nefarious intent, but I'd put money on the majority of scavengers have a mindset similar to mine: I just hate to see good, usable materials go to the trash. I can't begin to tell you how many perfectly functional electronics i have saved and refurbished to help someone replace one of theirs that broke, or how much metal i kept from going to the dump by either recycling or using myself (what? blacksmithing isn't a cheap hobby, I take what i can get.)

To be honest, in today's society, it's significantly less of an issue, because the bin isn't a 'hold all' for everything from kitchen waste to broken appliances; these days we have bins for each major group, so realistically, as long as someone wasn't going through my kitchen waste bin, I'd have little to no issue with it (I mean, hunting around in my discarded mail would be odd, but I'm one of those people who shreds anything they intend to throw in the recycling anyway, so not even that much of an issue even so)

We aren't that organized here in my little corner of the United States, everything more or less goes into the same bin, we Americans are apparently just too lazy to bother sorting what we view as rubbish.
