(smiling) Wow...Really enjoyed this trip down your memory lane, Willie. Recently hit 60 some months ago. Hadn't played in over 25 years, Simply put, after all those years, I couldn't leave behind that mistress of Music. Purposely started back up before hitting the 6-0 mark. This time I'll b sticking with it! This was very inspiring. Thank you, sir.

Willie Thomas is telling the truth. Sticking with it is what's going to make us better horn players. That was gorgeous! Truly masterful and a lot of fun to listen to.

Willie, simply beautiful! And what I'm about to say, I've only said for a very few handful of musicians, because you have to have a truly unique voice for it to apply, and that is: I put you in a class trumpet players that when I hear you play, I don't hear the trumpet, I hear your musical voice. What's coming out of the horn transcends it being just a trumpet sound. It wouldn't matter if you were playing an entirely different instrument, your unique voice is going to come out, regardless. Another musician in this class is the late classical trumpeter, Timofei Dokshizer. So it doesn't matter whether it's a jazz sound or classical sound, when you can finally transcend your instrument's innate sound to the point where your own musical voice is heard, then you're doing something special and you're certainly doing something special. This is something I work on in my own playing and it's players like you that set the example and give me inspiration. I thank you for this and for sharing this wonderful video.
