I probably make it look like more work than it is. I use this every day and I really do love it. Thank you for your comments and taking the time to watch.

Hello! thanks for this video =) I have also a staresso but I have some problems with different pods. Should we remove that black filter if there are filters in the pods theirself? For example have you tried Jacobs Capsules?

Thanks for watching. The pods I use are very similar but not the same brand as we don’t have Jacobs here. I find the best results are always to make 3 holes in the top. I’ve tried it with 1,2,3,4 but 3 always works. Then place the capsule in the Staresso . Don’t force it down just let it sit naturally and screw down the water chamber. The black filter on the bottom is also there to pierce the foil so don’t remove it or it won’t work. With the capsule not sitting flat in the chamber it will allow the pressure build up to push it down in a heal to toe motion and easily pierce the foil from one side to the other. If it’s in flat it often can’t get the piercing to work right. I hope that all made sense. Good luck.

Can it be used with ground coffee? Can someone recommend a portable coffee maker wich is chargeable from car or power bank and can heat up the water too? Thank you.

I’m afraid I can’t help with heating the water but I can confirm that you can use this espresso maker with ground coffee as well as capsules. Best of luck finding what your after.

Thanks for the thorough overview and helpful remarks. I wonder how it would work for backpacking trips (instead of my AeroPress)? For that purpose, I‘d want to ditch the weight of the cup and cup holder and pump into my titanium mug. However, it seems the design wouldn‘t allow for that, right? No „lip“ or flange or anything for placing on top of another cup or mug, right? Might also be a bit prone to tipping over when pumping, since there would be no screw-on seal. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks so much for watching. I've spent a lot more time with the it since I filmed this and think its great for travel. I especially like that pods are less messy and easier to keep than an open bag of ground coffee beans. I've used it with my keeper-cup just by holding it in one hand over the cup and pressing the pump with he other hand. It's a little awkward but works great so I know you wont have any issues at all using it with your titanium mug unless you had arthritis in your hands. I'd love to know how you get along. Let me know here if you give it a go.

RustyRoj Wow - thanks for the great news! Being able to hold and pump is amazing. Never would have known that‘s possible without your input. So I‘m going to order one up today and put it through its paces, first of all at home and in the office (not such great camping weather right now up here in northern Germany). Will let you know how it works out.

RustyRoj You truly did help a lot. :-) Just got my Starpresso today, and it works like a charm with the hand-held method (i.e. minus cup and cup holder). That means the thing only weighs 233g + 5g for the scoop, shaving a whopping 217g off of the total weight and making the thing more compact for taking along in a backpack or suitcase. Not only that, but it produced a very delightful espresso with crema, just like you show in your review. So for real espresso enjoyment on the go, this is going to be a keeper. Hope it holds up well. I‘ll now stop toting the AeroPress except for cases where I‘d prefer a larger volume of (darkish) coffee instead of a small shot of great espresso. When in the Great Outdoors, sometimes it‘s nice to have more of something hot and tasty to sip on while gazing into space. ;-)

@@scottbecker3485 I'm really glad you are enjoying it. I use mine daily at work and at home. I love that I can basically just keep it in my bag and always have good espresso when I want it. So far mine hasn't shown any signs of wear after 3+ months of daily use. Its a great quality piece of kit.

Hi, thanks for watching. According to Staresso the lid with the pump can be used to froth heated milk simply by inserting the metal part into the milt and pumping the top. I haven't tried this myself though as I don't usually have milk in my coffee. The only other portable machine I have tried so far is the B&Co Twist Press which makes press coffee so this doesn't froth milk at all.
