Try it on a character without the Wanted trait. I think its that trait more than the ship. The only thing I found the Starborn ships to be good for is smuggling since security can not scan what is on board them.

I'm definitely going to give this a try later, I've had so few random ship encounters. I normally ditch the Guardian asap for more firepower

It takes up to 15 seconds for random encounters to show up after you've jumped to a new system. You were actually going to get one at 2:28 right when you jumped. : )

I'm using a custom built C class ship and my encounter rate is about the same as your Guardian, roughly 85% of jumps. I have over 400 hours in the game as well (with the caveat that about 100 of that is afk), 100+ level, and over 300 grav jumps. I'm interested to hear if others have the same experience as you with their Guardian. I am not doing NG+ so I don't have the Guardian for comparison. I did have a Guardian V briefly because of a glitch and the ship sucked in combat so I got rid of it after only a couple battles.

750 hours - seems to be the level of the systems more than anything. have full A, B, C class ships, capital is C, but I sometimes have to switch due to taking over a ship. hahaha, got jumped by the eclipse legendary ship once while flying a damn space raccoon that was 90% damaged by me.... :D yeah, don't mind the guardian for the ROOM it has for cargo, but yeah, eventually your end game ships are pretty beefy and i have spent a great deal of time running around in the end level galaxies with my C class for loot. higher zones to seem to have a lot of encounters versus a 1-15 system, we'd need more data to see any trends though i think.

I also turned my frontier a b class ship but with A class engines and b class everything else and I still have 4k cargo 91 maneuverability and a top speed of 233 and 900 thrusters and have never lost a space battle on very hard. I used to run the mantis as a c class with 100 maneuverability and 9k cargo but it didn't feel as "good". I did try running with white dwarf 3015s and it was so fast but I had issues keeping even 70 maneuverability and much less cargo. Personally I believe the star eagle is the best ship you can get early its a good sized class a ship but all the components are max level top perk pieces. The reactor and drive require lvl 50 and starship engineering rank 4 to buy on your own and is easily the best class a ship you could even build. Unfortunately you need those class b shields and weapons eventually.

I noticed random encounters were happening a bit more frequently when I was in this ship and hardly ever when I was in anything else. I wasn't sure if it was a bug or feature.. as usual..

The guardian is indeed horse poop! I wouldn’t mind if they would give it a bed and a weapons bench. I spend the first hour in NG+ Getting about 250k together and start converting the Frontier into a C class mother of all ships.

I put over 400 hours in the regular game powered through new game two to get to new game three because I preferred the armor and I’m now another 50 hours into that and I’m actually re-playing the game. I have never ever seen the starboard vendor. And 50 hours of new game that stupid vendor has never shown up. Obviously I’m not using the starboard ship because it’s absolute garbage and I can blow five of them away. With my current ship and I don’t even run out of energy but I guess I’ll give this a try. Fingers crossed.

The one saving grace of the guardian ship is its speed. Quite literally the only way to survive a group battle by zipping around as much as possible.😂

Your skipping starborn encounters. they happen much slower than others. you only see a fuzz on screen like when going to temples.... it takes minimally 45 seconds before they are detected by ship systems. but if you have at least decent eyes you can spot them waay early..

Talkabout random was on a level 70 ish planet sittting there on a landing pad was a level 5 starbourn ship it was unlocked and was able to own it. My own ship was only lvl 3 slight inprovment in stats but not as good as my c class ship.

Yeah, I was bummed about how horrible the Guardian ships are, too, but I guess they felt that after giving you the best armor in the game and the ability to get the best weapon in the game (depending on who you side with at the end), they figured they'd still leave us something to obtain. After all, if there's not a better version of SOMETHING left in the game for you to obtain, what's the use of playing? I'm glad they chose the ship, as it's not something you have to spend hours and hours of farming to get the best... it's a matter of the player putting some effort into building "the best." Ship building is my favorite mechanic in the game.

Played over 500+ hours never seen bounty hunters, maybe because never have a bounty on me. Rarely have any random encounters like every 5 or 6 jumps may get one if lucky. Took two weeks to see the trader once, playing on very hard though. Game is still way too easy....and lots of dumb people still cheat in this game like my brother.

wanted trait basically gives you cornered as a skill with low hp in exchange for always be hunted by bounty hunters until you pay to get rid of the trait. yeah, if you don't have the trait and don't cause trouble - you'll never really see them. lol - 500k bounty is my biggest - lulz - almost every other jump :p
