I will say, The pyramids look good, But the buildings look so out of place, Like Im sure there would be ruins of the city around the buildings themselves not just rolling sand dunes. Also dont like the fact that all the terrain is flat, Doesn't matter if you are in Nepal the Scottish highlands or the Mariana trench, Just flat. feel like they really could have let their creative side out with Earth.

(the portrait of Earth made in Starfield is actually not particularly accurate...but in the other direction...the planet is too empty and there are not enough testimony of the past civilization that was there...)

Everything is getting beamed by Direct Solar Radiation. Remember that time is also relative. 300 years on Earth is not the same as 300 years somewhere else. That's pretty much determined by speed and gravity.

Game shouldn't REQUIRE mods to be playable in an enjoyable manner...Bethesda is on a downhill trend ever since Morrowind. Give one good thing, take away two others...modders will mod it back on their own. At least it wasn't that bad up to Skyrim (which, as bland story and quest were, was also a very good sandbox standard). F4 and F76 though were a disgrace.

yeah i think cathedrals and bridges are more important than monstrosities of modern design. art deco might be the last time humans did any thing worth looking at. im sure baroque, neoclassical and gothic buildings with out rusting metal interiors would last longer. not sure the geological time it would take for earths oceans to boil off, but you can look at old ships and bases from 100 years and more ago to see those buildings would be powder and fields of sharp metal a couple centuries after humans.

Earth should have been the most densely decorated planet as it’s not fictional, it’s the only planet that actually has a basis to be created from and all they did was put some skyscrapers and give us snow-globes, they should have done something like Oblivion. According to game lore earth is only 150 or so years past apocalypse. There would be tons of debris from city's. Skyscrapers would be mostly still standing. Earth being a desert with occasional buildings is unrealistic.

The procedural generation techniques this game employs is extremely lackluster. They really could have made some geographically diverse environments in terms of general heightmap data but it's all very similar in diversity. Just different colors, rocks and fauna. No Man Sky does practically the same shit but they at least have some interesting formations.

@@AlexZaglushaka yea a handful of landmarks is fine, and they could have done a few more, but you gotta remember horizon is litterly a post apocalyptic America scaled down. Thats the entire game In star-field earth is basically an easter egg location, it would be allot of resources going into one unimportant location if they had to detail it all, ruined citys maybe, but again theirs a reason these huge procedural games typically don’t have much going on on the planets, wether its no mans sky , it just impractical. no mans sky has a few landing ports and some tiny building stuck together. Star-field has some caves and some larger bases but no major towns outside of the main 4 cities. Star citizen is basically a huge tech demo with no quests or structure, but a few things you can do here and there, and they have a procedural city type thing, but its taking them years to develop. So its kinda a trade off what developers spend time on. Bethesda focuses on mechanics story dialog lived in locations, rpg mechanics and gameplay features (things to do) That being said ill be interested to see what modders can do whilst keeping performance reasonable

Obviously the Rapture happened, then the 2nd coming. Humanity freaked out, Fallout 1-4 happens very quickly, and by 2050, everyone abandons Earth. The reason there are so many random buildings is because the other ones were destroyed by nuclear war, and some of the buildings were rebuilt as monuments in 2049 just before everyone left in the New Ark. The Statue of Liberty isn’t present because after Planet of Apes happens, the statue is buried quickly by sand as it is eaten by the Earth within a year.

It looks like they were a bit lazy when they made the art of planet earth, if the planet is all desert or ice, the winds would be very strong and practically everything would be destroyed or buried in sediment, I'm convinced they could have done something more realistic without losing effectiveness in recognizing the places, but that's ok.

1:19 I see the old Skyrim's feet clippin into the ground thing's still in full effect. No footprints neither... And yet, 50-70ish fps on an rtx 4090! Looking like this, which isn't ugly, but it's pretty mediocre. It boggles the mind really, how poorly optimized can a game get. How behind they're lagging with respect to the rest of the industry in terms of tech. That demo they released though, they sure know how to sell a game. Still, these guys couldn't make a technically good game to save their lives. The Creation Engine (1 or 2) is an absolute abomination

It has to be 50-70 fps. The engine starts to fuck up after around a hundred fps.
