biome is important^^ the big tip is also what he do at 7min, he try to build outpost that display real time of ressource radius. do a 360° max range it, around 500meter radius live scan. repeat it until you discover more ressource for outpost.

Great video, I recommend saving before doing any landings then reload if you don't find a good build site so you don't have other landing spots saved on the planet. Makes it easier later when returning to your base.

You can only have a max of 3 "Landing Zones" areas so while saving is the best way to handle this, you can instead try three locations at a time and then loop back to the original.

Extractors work based on universal time. So if you wait on a planet with a very long day/night cycle a long amount of UT will pass which means your extractors will generate a lot of resources. 1 hour on Linnaeus 4b is about 7.5 hours of UT or about 1 day on Linnaeus is about a week of UT. One thing to note about that outpost is that since it's right between two biomes most of the resource patches are going to be on the very edge of the buildable area. You likely will only have enough space to fit one or two extractors for each resource. It's actually much more efficient to just build two outpost in seperate biomes and then link them together with a cargo link.

My outpost on Linnaeus IV-B has 7 resource zones all completely inside the outpost beacon radius. It takes a few landing locations to get a site like that, but it's very possible if you know how to read the terrain maps.

I promise you, you will want to put your fist through your monitor in frustration trying to get these many resources. It's not worth it 90% of the time. You'll spend hours flying and running around trying to get that holy grail spot. I've spent probably close to 60 hours alone doing outpost crap, and now I consider a spot good if it has he-3 and 2 other resources I want. He-3 being important as you won't need to ship it in from another place for your inter-system links.
@fuzzball297
@fuzzball297 Жыл бұрын
Yeah you have a point. I did this “strategy” and wasted a lot of time looking for these spots on other planets, only to end up scrapping those outposts when a better combination came up. Some of the rare endgame resources are only on one planet, and end up having redundant resources with other outposts I had. Luckily it’s very easy to pick up and move if you don’t put too much effort into each one
@shanepurcell8116
@shanepurcell8116 Жыл бұрын
@@fuzzball297 BSG needs to give us good reasons to do all this. In the end you spend countless hours, and skill points doing all this, and you're still bottlenecked by vendors that only have a handful of thousand credits. There's one spot with multiple close vendors, that is like the holy grail of selling spots, but it's all just so frustrating. Alot of manufactured goods actually sell for less than the parts needed to make them.

@kedolan4992
@kedolan4992 Жыл бұрын
Because they want to setup one base to get lots of things quickly, instead of having to setup multiple bases, one of which is just a hub station. Especially since the inter-system transports require local He3 to build, and not all planets have that readily available.
@fuzzball297

Extraction time is already very fast on this planet. The only reason to care about sleep time is when it comes time to sell. If you’re managing multiple outposts with interstellar cargo links (I have 16 at this point) you’re just asking for a huge clog of resources that stop your entire production line.

In fact, you will face different problem - you will drop most of resources because of ship cargo size. As for farm XP.. i am not playing to cheese game like that, so i am not interested in this. Money? Pirating, quests, contraband runs. I am swimming in them. My last ship cost me 400k+ creds, and i am getting more for next tier upgrade. The most important thing is to land right on the border between Hills and Craters So try to be really precise with the landing placement and land just when the biome changes names eg Crater > Hills. When you bring the scanner out once you have landed, it brings up a compass in the left bottom circle, North showing as the thicker white arrow. You can use the planet/moons resource map to decide which direction on the compass would be towards the closest biome eg. If you landed on a Hills landing spot with Craters biome above you on the resource map, you'd head north. Also, use the "show me" terrain map to look for Hill like or Crater like biome terrain then walk along a line of where they meet when searching for a spot. If still no luck on a good spot, you can try landing on different areas of the planet as long as the landing spot is as close as possible to the transition from Hills to Crater biomes. Then, look quickly on the terrain map or simply from the ships normal viewing angle before exiting it to see if you can find the change of biomes. Tip: Crater biomes have dark black like soil, and Hill biomes have Red sand like soil, you'll know you are at the change of a biome when the soil colour changes, it can also be a big benefit if the weather on the planet isn't bad when looking eg Sunny is best and the weather changes from time to time. Good luck.

Another tip is that apparently your outposts get a production boost when the planet is fully surveyed so it's a good idea to find the landmarks too.

I've watched a lot of videos about finding multiple resources, but this is the first one that actually explained the mechanic and how to interpret the ground map (I didn't even realise it did that), so thanks for that, very useful.

This was so useful as I have never even noticed the colony beacon telling me what’s in range. The biomes on the local map was really helpful too, started again as I had learned a bunch so this is going right into the first colony in my new game :)

Xbox must work differently. Literally HOURS I’ve spent running along biome lines. I think you have to land on the right pixel and get lucky with the resource generation. I wouldn’t waste effort on more than iron and aluminum in one copper and nickel in another and so on. Do one on what resources are worth mining versus just buying
@OffMetaProfessor
@OffMetaProfessor Жыл бұрын
The landing terrains are randomly generated, I would suggest checking a short span of the closest biome spilt and if it does look promising I would go to a new landing spot and try a new generation. I'm not sure if console has less generation of resource, I would hope it doesn't. But even myself I recently tried another 3 landing spots as I wanted a more flat base location and I found a 7 in 1 on the same planet/moon with a more flat beacon placement. I found that sometimes the biome spilt line can be a be wonky in its generation on a landing spot, so the best thing I've found is to land in a new spot and look at the terrain map when landing to see if it has a nice visible spilt. Remember you want to choose a landing spot as close as possible to where the biomes change names from Hills to Craters. Best of luck 👍

Great video, but... If you have an outpost with 6 resources, the netto production per minute will be lower, because lack of spaces for drilling machines. Right? Anyway, can we sold this resources automatically? As I know not or not yet. This is not a tycoon game, ok 😂

Its also a good idea to look for the biome border when its daylight =p btw..is it just me that wish we could place like concrete foundations at outposts..like in fallout 4? Saw this one guy find the border where 3 bioms meet, i tried myself for like many hours hehe but no such luck...so frustrating

Full mod support for the game should be coming out in around 3-4 months alongside the first expansion. So there will probably be a lot of things added to the game around that time.

Luckily, I am able to get here early on without having to spend anything on a ship. I have wanted as one of my traits and I was able to take a bounty hunter's ship which has a 21LY grave jump and 1300 storage capacity. Has pretty weapons and engine and a decent shield. It's one of those Ecliptic Falcata ships. Only downside is there is no bed to take advantage of the 10% XP on the fly. Overall, it's a good ship to have early on though.

I would suggest landing at a new spot if you don't have luck within 5-10mins of looking. Just make sure the landing spot is right on the biome change from Hills to Craters. As soon as you land look at the (View Me) terrain map and look to see if you can see a clear terrain change, if not try a new landing spot as they are randomly generated, and some landing spots can just be poorly randomized.

The UI in this game isn’t great. We should be able to delete icons and add waypoints. It’s not much but there are too many systems not to be able to create your own notes on them, etc.

Geat explanation for newbie like me. Maybe some prior info on requirements before placement of anything other than the first location. I found myself lacking all the things needed to place just about anything. Also a ship with enough storage to even hold the resources. I ended buying your ship just so I could run again without being overweight.
