From Skyrim to Starfield is still a crazy degradation for a game studio. I suspect half of Bethesda underwent divorces and/or drug and alcohol addictions.
@tihonannenkov4114
@tihonannenkov4114 11 ай бұрын
@@reginaldpitifuqmcgee420 Actually everything turned out exactly how I expected. I used to like Bethesda, but already Skyrim was worse story-wise than Oblivion, which was worse then Morrowind. I didn't even enjoy Skyrim all that much, I found the game shallow after a while. Then Fallout 3 came, which I didn't like at all, then Fallout 4 which was even worse (in my opinion), I bought both when they had a big discount. So seeing the clear trend, Starfield was the first game I have no intention of buying even on discount.

Also, exploring your first empty moon might be interesting, or at least novel. After doing it 10 or more times like Bethesda expects you to do the novelty wears off and it becomes boring. That was even true about the Moon landings. How many people remember anything about the Apollo 15-17 missions? Most people had stopped paying attention or wanting to watch them, because it had become almost routine.

I'm glad someone noticed it. They spent 20 years building us a space sandbox and expect the modders to turn it into an actual game. Zero freedom of choice Zero npc dialogue improvements, just lazy long winded spiels from Sam f##$ing coe and quest discussions you are best to just skip Through their that empty. The big hoo har they build you up to is just a repeat of the same game with slight randomisation of character roles and the same linear bs as the previous playthrough. And whoever taught tod Howard the concept of procedurally generated maps done us over big time. Honestly.. They should have just made skyrim 2, or remade morrowind or some other game they bothered to make properly with actual rpg mechanics. Hell even a remaster of skyrim or oblivion would have been more successful and took half as much money to make and needed less god Howard bs hype and 45 minute gameplay preview trailers that embellish the absolute destruction of the BGS legacy

The problem isn't empty space. The problem is, when you DO actually come across a landmark, it's the same garbage copy/ pasted over a million times by AI on countless other planets. NONE of it means anything and provides no surprises whatsoever. In skyrim, every landmark has a name, place and story behind it. The open world here is piss-poor by every metric.

@assman3487 You're right. This generation of soylent drinking blue haired millenials have stripped games of their charm and soul. Everything is so sterile and meaningless. They're afraid to push boundaries and be daring. Fallout 1, 2, and NV were edgy. Many times I'd be playing them and come across something that made me pause and go "oooooooh shit thats dark". Even Skyrim and Fallout 4 had some heavy themes and uncomfortable moments. Starfield has never made me question anything, never made me uncomfortable, never made me think. It's such a disapointment. I've adored every BGS game. I'm a die hard BGS fan. But Starfield is the epitome of the word bland. Makes me worried for TES 6. But hey, thats what modders are for right? Unfortunately Bethesdsa even fucked that up in Starfield. Mods are much more complicated to install.

What you're describing is the pacing of the gameplay experience. Designers, namely level designers, typically take great consideration in how far we're asking you to walk between objectives for this exact reason. Say what you want about Bethesda, but we all knew what was coming with this game, and they didn't send out fake videos to try to trick people, and lie to people, and take interviews in front of their fake footage where they posted about features they had added that, to this date, NMS still hasn't gotten. I'm not going to buy either game, but to pretend like No Man's Sky wasn't a classic, glaring case of actual consumer fraud is purely disingenuous, and anyone trying to push that game without the added framing of that context has an agenda.

They'd need to think of a lore friendly idea of how you can transmit at high speeds, because those star systems are tens of lightyears apart. It would take years for a signal to travel. Then again, the premise of the game makes no sense to begin with: a bunch of Earth like habitable planets with only 1 city on them and the rest is empty. Then you have hundreds of hostile hellscapes that for some reason have "abandoned" habitats on them, fully functional and populated by some "bad guys" who are bad just because the game needs them to be. Seems to be FUCKTONS of good, unsettled land in the Settled Systems, yet 3 groups of badguys™ just decided they wanna spend their whole lives in spacesuits on some deserted infernos of frozen rocks with nothing on them and just harass random people who also visit those deserted infernos or frozen rocks for ... reasons I guess.

There will be no large scale modding scene for this game because the base experience isn’t good enough for people to come back to it. There’s no DLC large enough to fix the colossal foundational issues of the experience. Unless there are some serious foundational changes to the way Bethesda builds it’s games and it’s studio, I think the elder scrolls 6 will be terrible and all the good will that they’ve been coasting on and rapidly depleting will be all gone.

It didn't have any bigger competitors because hogwarts legacy, BG3, Dave the Diver and Lethal Company were nominated for other awards You can't nominate expansions (idk why more awards don't have a "best expansion" category it might enocourage not trash DLCs) so Phantom Liberty was off the table. @@rufumag6742 I mean, considering all games since FO3 (which is where I started being more interested in BGS) have _shared_ the same issues, even after it had been fixed by modders in the game prior, your conviction there is most certainly leagues ahead of mine. For me, Starfield just... broke me. In a weird way, I felt more scammed by SF than by Star Citizen, because the moment I play a bit in SF, it feels like a game that's 10+ years old. Like, the city where the Lodge is, where you first go... That city's graphical fidelity reminds me of Mass Effect 1, just in 4K (cause I have newer hardware) and better textures. But it _does not_ remind me of, say, Cyberpunk (again, speaking graphical fidelity). CP'77 is 3 years old, Mass Effect 1 is from 2007. That's just a shame. Then people come and say "well, it's an RPG, not (something)", but then you compare it to BG3, where NPC _actually_ look like human* beings with actual faced that express emotion, even if the game is mostly just a birdseye-top-down-game, not one meant for first or third person (where you'd assume the quality of faces and facial animation should play a bigger role). Ah well, sorry. I'm still bitter about SF. I was never huge on the hype-train, but for the last years I had hoped SF would keep me busy until Star Citizen is out. I think they completely planned on relying on the modding community to make it a good game🤣👌 I could imagine in a couple years it being amazing with some mods but until then It's just a walking simulator with cool visuals🤦

@@ItsAme7143dude, top modders in the community have already given up on the game. This game is cooked.

No space exploration game will ever beat No Man's Sky. It has over 18 quintillion planets. And all of them have something to do. Plus all the other stuff you can do.

In NMS I simply hop into my starship, fly to that person, then land again. Or I use my mech to get there. Or I use my motorcycle to get there. Or I use my dune-buggy to get there. Or I use the jet-pack to get there...

to get where exactly? NMS has nothing to do lol

@@danjjjatest Clearly exploring isn't your thing. Finding the perfect base location, identifying 100% on a planet, getting to a fellow player's base to do something, to save a fellow player or be saved, to do a mission or questline, and more. I guess millions of things are nothing now.

@@GuretoSefirosu Lol quit kidding yourself. NMS has no side missions or storyline. Its just a big empty space. To compare it to Starfield is laughable.

@@danjjjatest There is plenty to do. Just because NMS doesn't hold you hand and give you exact pointers and all doesn't mean it isn't there. Heck there is an entire storyline that starts after beating the main storyline! Are you referring to NMS in 2016? I would tend to agree then.

When we're treating fo4 as the good old days you know something is properly fucked. How bethesda manages to completely miss what people like about their games over and over again is just beyond me. Its not the story, its not the characters, not the grand narrative or events or whatever. Its a world and the ability to just stumble across random shit for hundreds of hours.
