No it's not. You'll be driving for maybe 5 minutes and you'll hit an invisible wall. Unless they make planets seamless to explore, like for example in Elite Dangerous, then this car update won't add much exploration potential.

Been playing around with it on Xbox. It auto deploys next to your ship. You can modify it's color. It's handling reminds me of a combination of a Warthog from Halo and whatever the vehicle was in Mass Effect Andromeda. It costs 25k credits, but obviously the update is free. It's way better than anything I imagined we would get. Very eager to see what modders do with this =]

For me it would have been so cool if you needed to add a garage to your ship, and it only spawned in there. I'd have thought half the 'cool factor' is driving it down the ramp and onto the surface (much like when you exit your ship, and spawn in the ramp bay). Hopefully some modders implement that.

This game got way more shit on that it deserves, I thought they would just abandon it but they didn't. We got city maps. customizable ship interiors, modular difficulty, trackers alliance bounties and now a land vehicle plus they've been adding more POI as well as hundreds of bugs fixed. Yes they are under contract to do so but they could've just half assed it but they've clearly been putting effort in, I mean it's a miracle that they could get a land vehicle to work in their spaghetti code engine and from what I've played the vehicle controls and feels really good, it reacts to the gravity as well as the terrain you're on. Not even CDPR pulled this off with cyberpunk as some of those vehicles feel like you're driving on oil

Finally. A lot of people were saying a decent land vehicle was impossible in their software .... let me point out that it has been almost a year since it came out and it was probably one of the top 3 requested features .... they had to put a lot of work into it to make it work. Now that they have got one working, modders should be able to start making their own vehicle designs. I mostly enjoyed the game, overall, though I agree it needs more locations, or more variations in the existing locations such as different loot possibilities. Also, they need more options for companions who are not so uptight about piracy and evil playthroughs for those who like to play that way. If you choose to be a space pirate, every single main NPC will get pissed off and leave your party, and the hirable NPCs don't have the good stats that they do.

I was gonna wait for shattered space, but recently hopped back in. The rev 8 makes exploration sooooo much more fun! Nothing quite like putting in a quicksave and just going on a driving rampage in the middle of a city. Added a few creation club mods, increasing the amount of flora on worlds (highly recommend) and removing most of the HUD and increasing the difficulty of enemies, so i have to play more tactically. Im having a genuinely great time with it. Really looking forward to seeing future development

I don't know probably not. Starfield benefits from this by its nature as a fantasy space game. But fallout 4 didn't really need vehicles or any previous game. That said I'd like to see vehicles represented eventually. Can't tell me people in fallout only figured out generators and vertibirds.

For my taste - Fallout NV absolutely needs vehicles, walking through the desert was boring as hell (some people like it, but I prefer the mad max vibe) Fallout 4 doesn't exactly NEED vehicles, since the map is so packed, but it would still be really kool to drive one

I know the original Fallout games are not Bethesda and are really old and different genres, but the game worlds were much bigger in Fallout 1 and 2. So in Fallout 2 it was added. It's just for fast travel and storage, but there were plans at the time to have vehicle combat as well, but it never happened.

And when will they add normal factions, normal tasks not from the "give-and-bring" category, normal big cities in which you can believe that people live there, and not large villages with non-functional buildings? Super impressed by their work on this. Dev team really delivered something special here. They didn't need to add fun touches like Vasco hopping in and slapping the trunk to take off but they did. Trailer was dope too so I am very excited to get in the Rev-8 myself.

​@@WolfCAlpha Horses in the elder scrolls games weren't actually that quick. It was like a middle ground between walking and sprinting. You would never be able to go faster than your player character could. It's an elaborate player model swap.

@@WolfCAlpha Todd Howard mentioned it in an interview sometime last year I think, that in Skyrim's development, a dev told them they were having issues getting horses to work properly, and Todd said if need be they don't need to have horses, but the dev ended up getting it working.
