This is my favorite outpost so far of mine. Its supposed to be more work oriented, you can find a planet with better resources but I liked this mountain because of the pathways, the planet which will sometimes be right above and the ocean in the distance, although you almost instantly die if you touch the water. This is mining Lead, Tungsten and Water, I really dont get too worked up on finding specific resources cause at the end of the day you can purchase everything, or make a strictly resource outpost with no habs just extractors. I love how this sits perfectly in the mountain with the airlocks leading to easy to traverse terrain, from a distance it looks like a structure that belongs on the planet. Added NPCS with commands but it does make it feel lived in and like a proper research station. Hope this can give you some ideas!
Thanks for watching, plenty more on the way. If you enjoyed the video please consider giving it a like and subscribing!

The fact that you’re able to do this with the very limited options and mechanics for outposts currently in the game is incredible. I look forward to see what you create as they update and add more things!

Thanks!! I can’t wait for some updates to the outposts as well. I still got a couple cool ones in the works but being limited to the amount of habs they offer you can only make so many unique outposts. They need to add a lot of the assets used to build Akila city to outpost building.

@@MillsBuildsIn the meantime, there is a mod that lets you place objects anywhere that works just like the "Place Anywhere" Fallout 4 mod. You could try that out.

Cool build! the only thing I would have added would have been stairs from the landing pad up the cliff if possible, not making it look to jumbled up or complicated.

Thank you! Was really fun building this one. When you get started on your mountain build I suggest placing your airlocks first because the terrain on a mountain can be weird.

Thank you!! I do try my best to make it steady so it’s not headache inducing to watch. And since the walkthrough tours are usually done in one shot it can be challenging sometimes. Hopefully it gets better as the videos keep coming!

Wow, your outpost is very well done, I love it, and the most important thing to me is that there are all these people bringing it to life. I'm going to get started too, but I'm wondering how I'm going to tell people to stay put. Well done, keep up the good work...

@@calaghan13 A viewer of mine left me this info, this should be everything you need to know. Here are some NPC IDs Generic male colonist- 10DD9A Generic female colonist - 11F9B0 Doctor- 0001291e Trader- 001a2c9d Ship technician- 0015CF3D Chunks employee- 001440d2 (There are a ton more! To find them just tyoe “help (keyword) 4” into console and you’ll get a list of IDs! Avoid ones that start with ff) >to spawn them and have them wander around: “player.placeatme (NPC ID)” +to delete any npc- open the console, click on them (make sure it starts with “NPC-“ when you click, it can be finicky” and just type in “disable” and enter. >to spawn them and have them stay attached to a furniture object or workbench: -Open console -Click on the object and make sure it starts with “FURN” on the screen -type “pft (NPC ID)” and enter >to make them stay in one spot: open console, click on NPC (make sure pop up starts with “NPC-“ and type “setrestrained 1” >to change their animation style: open console, click on NPC and type caf (animflavor). To find a list of animflavors just enter “help animflavor 4” >to open their inventory and trade/equip items: open console, click on NPC, back up and turn away from them (you have to do this part idk why) and enter “openactorcontainer 1” >to teleport them to the exact player location: open console, click on NPC and type “moveto player”. This is super useful for placing restrained NPCs exactly where you want them such as putting a trader behind a desk! There are more commands but these are the main ones. If you want to make life easier- you can also take any console command you use and copy/paste it into a text file in the games root folder. Then, just open console and type “bat (filename” to run the command. You could also even attach those commands to a hot key. For example, you could press F1 to spawn a male colonist. Here’s some bonus ones- If you want an NPC to follow you, you can click on them in the console and enter this: Ssq 0000d773 forcerefintoalias ActiveFollowers To remove your followers: emptyrefalias ActiveFollowers There are a ton of things you can do with console commands/ bats and hot keys. I’ve tested NPCs thoroughly and they are stable/ should not break your game or damage performance. Hope somebody finds this useful in making their outposts cooler! These commands also work for spawning NPCs on your ship!! And they will stay there persistently on the ship you spawn them on even after switching ships etc.

I'm a subscriber and a huge fan of your builds, watch them almost nightly!... Buuuut man, what mod did you use to get your ship to land on the small landing pad? There is no way that thing is under 40 m long!
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 9 ай бұрын
Thank you dude! I appreciate that. But no mods at all, I’m trying to stay vanilla with my Starfield builds until I run out of ideas or until official Mod support comes out. That ship is gifted to you from your parents if you pick the kid trait. It’s able to land on the small pads.

Thanks so much for the reply! Yeah you're like a local celebrity here, even my wife watches your builds with me. Ok last question! How do you get so many crew members at your outposts? I know I need to level-up my Outpost Management skill, however I'm reading all over Reddit that even that doesn't make a difference, the cap is still 3 for most people? How did you accomplish it? Thanks in advance!@@MillsBuilds

@@TaylorSmith-godbucket haha that’s awesome! I got a nice outpost I’m working on now! But unfortunately that is the one time I broke some rules 🤣 I used console commands to spawn them in. Your basically able to just spawn an NPC to sit in place, or stand at a workbench, or you can also spawn them in to move around freely. Felt it was necessary for this one to make it feel more lived in. It’s a shame too because that was one of my favorite things in FO4 was having your settlements feel so lived in. There’s gonna be a lot of future content for outposts I got no doubt in it getting better and I’m sure that will be something changed, allowing us to have more crew at our outposts.

Ok I've been mesmerized by your set design. 11/10. Crazy how the community of players who go wild with this should be getting paid by the developers to create their set designs. I don't get how they claim to have such a passion for it yet produce nothing quite like this. And I'm only a couple vids in! Gonna watch em all. ONE QUESTION I HAVE. where TF do you put the companions stupid little desk thing to have them assigned there??? Tell me ur secrets!
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 10 ай бұрын
Thank you dude! I really appreciate it. And you can place the crew stations down at your outpost and assign crew members there or if you have a companion with you they’ll mess around on workbenches and what not. But for this video I actually used commands to spawn in the NPCS. Kinda lame how you have to do it that way and there’s no official way to have settlers to make your outposts feel more lived in. With commands your able to spawn them and either have them roam or you can spawn them to stick to a specific piece of furniture like a chair or workbench for example.

@@daltonswinney once Bethesda adds official mod support early next year there will be tons of mods for Xbox! I’m gonna be looking into turning some of my builds and decorated player homes into mods that you can download, it was possible in FO4 so I assume it will be for Starfield too. Thanks for all the kind words dude! More builds on the way, working on an another outpost now!

Thank you! And you can go into build mode to pick those up as well which disables it’s physics. It’s nice sometimes but not all the times, to put the misc items between shelves and tougher spots I normally just pick them up and place them normally with their physics still enabled.

I'm about to pull my hair out and run screaming down the street due to these stupid small landing pads. For the life of me I cannot get them to work the way I want. I have a Mills build inspired outpost that I am very proud of! However I cannot get ships to land on the small pad. Alll my ships are small and well under 40 m, but they will not land on the small pad for the life of me and I don't know why. So I'm stuck using the stupid big ass huge ass landing pad, but it is so huge and stupid and ugly it ruins the aesthetics of anything I do. Help me Mills build, you're my only hope!
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 9 ай бұрын
damn dude! Idk why that’s happening with your small landing pad. Your definitely using the landing pad and not the cargo link that looks just like the landing pad? But you’re in luck because my next outpost finally uses a large landing pad lol. I been staying away from them myself because of how big and plain they are, I found a way to add a bunch of habs to the large landing pad though so it’s not plain looking. It’s just a large build so idk when I’ll be uploading it, it isn’t completely finished yet.

how do you get from the landing pad to the actual outpost?
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 10 ай бұрын
Well when you fast travel to your outpost you spawn at the outpost beacon so I’m hardly ever down at the landing pad but you can still get up there pretty easily, might have to hit your jet pack once or twice though. You can get down to the landing pad no problem by just jumping down, also nice because it’s a low G planet so you can get some air. But yeah not the most ideal spot for the landing pad, but it was either there or none at all so.
