After years of hype, speculation and waiting, finally the gaslighting has arrived. Starfield is coming out next year apparently, and so far it looks like No Mans Sky crossed with a woke walking simulator. I will let you be the judge. Just make sure to wait a few weeks after launch before buying it.
Special thanks to Mario J. Martinez, Archangel, Theron, Michael Pearce, Jason T Barnes, Dean McGee, Steve, Alcoholistair, RageDMX47, Hector Salamanca, Corvo Fox-Gray, FatCat1, Alec C, Anna Lovatt, ATR-42, Goku OG and all of my Patreon supporters. Their stoic support humbles me.

Evere since the fans started patching and improving the Fallout games, Bethesda seems to have adopted the style of "why bother making it good from the start? The fans will solve all the problems." They must be one of the most lazy, no f***s given game developers out there.

Its like you people only read what you want to read. The reason Fallout76 exists in the first place is because the shareholders at bethesda saw what other online games where making and decided fallout is the perfect game for that shit. It is also widely claimed that none of the devs and pronect managers actually wanted to make the game in the first place because thats not what bethesda does best. Well those same shareholders then sold Bethesda because it wasn't making the profits they wanted to, they basically squeezed fallout 76 out to get their money before selling. Fallout 76 would never have existed under ms. And you can call me a shill but it is facts and you dont have to look far to find these facts. So how do you blame todd Howard for making a game he didnt want to make in the first place and now say all Bethesda games going forward is going to be shit? Like they are not even under the same ownership anymore. So basically everyone is saying a game Bethesda and the devs at bethesda realy want to make is going to be shit due to their last game that they didnt want to make being shit.? Like explain that. And before you say but fallout 4 was shit, just go back and play it again, because its not at all, its the best sales a fallout game has ever gotten and its realy such a fucking goof game. And i dont realy care about bugs because thats why modders exists. Noe people are gonna say but modders shouldnt be the ones fixing the issue and to that i say why the hell do you care who fixes it if it gets fixed? Like should i not buy a game because modders had to fix it? I wish more companies where as modder friendly as bethesda games. Maybe cyberpunk wouldnt have bombed. I also expect the next witcher game to be insane btw, so this is not just love to bethesda. Its like you people dont understand that mistakes can happen. I dont think we're being overpromosed by bethesda aswell since we really know very little about the game at this point. Its also like we ignore the fact that game development has gotten much much harder over thr last 10 years, teams are much bigger than in the past and details arr so much higher and easier to get wrong.

Morrowind came out in 2002. This engine is over twenty years old now and it really shows.
@Grobut81
@Grobut81 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mirthful_Midori Many engines are about that old, that's not unusual. However, those engines are not the same engine anymore, they have been continually updated and upgraded over the years, their data streaming methods completely redesigned, how they handle terrain has been updated and optimized, new technologies have been implimented, new and better ways to do things have been discovered and incorporated to boost both performance and expand their capabillities. Except for Bethesda's engine... it is fundamentally still the same engine today that it was back in 2002, and it wasen't even a good engine back then. What in the actual hell!? Why are they still using this thing? Why have they never fixed or upgraded it? They have done almost nothing to this engine. There have been some minor updates to the animation system, new effects have been added to the renderer, the script-engine has been replaced with an even worse script engine (Papyrus!?!? Really!?!?!? This is what you went with Bethesda? In a videogame engine? PAPYRUS!?!? WHY!? Ok... deep breaths... it's just a post traumatic flashback to modding Skyrim... it will pass... find your calm...), and that's pretty much it. They haven't even added basic functionality to this thing like climbable ladders. Forget about data streaming optimization, they haven't even gotten to ladders yet. Of course, that should shock no one, because they haven't even fixed critical bugs with the engine which have existed since Morrowind. When Bethesda adopted the Gamebryo engine to make Morrowind, they were on the verge of bankruptsy, so Morrowind had to be rushed out, and many many shortcuts had to be taken, so they created many a bug in their rushjob to adapt the engine. Ok, that's understandable, but of course, when you then use the engine again to make Oblivion, you fix those problems, right?.... no?.... But you fix it when you use the engine again to make Fallout-3, surely? .... no? And not for Skyrim either? Fallout-4? ....Still nothing? Ohh but obviously you'll fix it when you take the engine Online for a multiplayer Fallout game, right?.... no? ... Still not fixed in 76? Ohhh... Ok then. :( But this time they will do it right! Right?.... yeah no, i don't belive that for a second either. Starfield is going to have all the same problems, and then some. I garuentee it. We've already seen that the game runs like crap, just like Fo4 and 76 did (because it's 2002 tech being brute-forced to run on modern hardware), they coulden't even get smooth-60 gameplay for a pre-recorded gameplay teaser, dispite the game's graphics looking like it'd be at home on last-gen Consoles. Now that should scare you.

@@Grobut81 I mean, the game has a year before it launches, I assume they are not just going to sit around and do nothing for that long. But Each game is progressively less buggy, FO4 had no major and hardly even minor bugs that I know of and I put in 1500 hours in that game. Every game as big as a BGS game has way more bugs. Although it did need more polish for PC. No game has no bugs these days and nothing the size of these games has less bugs, so..

Frame this comment in the context that I think Sarah Bond is possibly the most attractive women in the gaming industry, and I interupted a session of writing love poems to her in order to respond to what you said ..... but yes .... If she rode on to the stage on a donkey, wearing a gingham bonnet, humming the theme tune to Little House on the Prairie, I still dont think anyone would have noticed the donkey because they would have been too busy staring at that fucking dreadful denim fashion crime. It worries me that a tripleA publishers wardrobe department might think "this will resonate with gamers". I cant say with certainty if me and Sarah Bond will ever get married, but if we do, I hope she understands why I reported her denim dress to the police. You are also kindly invited to be an usher.

I do know they used to like advertising the franchise with her pleasant face as much as possible when she was part of that set up .... Though I have hear the odd thing more recently about her recent activities - sometimes from you. She's still a fine looking woman though I note - however she got the job and however good she is at it now compared to when she was hired... If you look really closely some of them have almost indetectable cuts where a few seconds of footage is spliced to a few more seconds of footage. Check out the scene where the player character opens the door..... its not contiguous.... the door changes colour as it opens. Its an edit.

Cyberpunk is made on a very poor game engine and overhyped beyond belief which was its downfall. I played it and the only thing keeping it alive where I put it down before the end was the storyline and cutscenes. The freeroaming stuff was very bad, BUT now after several patches it is somewhat playable and you can call it an actual game. Sadly the game engine sucks and the optimization is impossible where low fps is a given if you don't have a good pc rig. There is a huge reason why CDPR scrapped their RED engine and moved on to Unreal Engine 5. The next Witcher on UE5 will look gergous, BUT I haven't seen an UE5 game feature physics and mechanics that makes it next level in that department, or planet procedural tech. This will most likely come over time, but sooner the better.

There are plenty of developers that always make quality. Not just from. It takes about 20 seconds of thought to come up with 4 or 5 more. @magisterrleth3129
@magisterrleth3129 2 жыл бұрын
Don't pre-order even from FROM. They're good, and the only way to keep them that way is to not tempt them with easy money. I imagine that having your project pay for itself before you even finish takes a lot of pressure to be good off the the publishers. With no pre-orders, the publisher has to listen to the developers when they say there's too many bugs, the reviews will be bad, and the game will flop. With a good pre-order campaign, they literally don't care, the project has already made a modest profit, and thanks to momentum and FOMO, they know they'll be able to sell even more release day, at least until the reviews come in. And that's why you insist it be a live-service game, too. Because no matter how bad a game is, it will always have it's fans, and those few fans are more likely to spend money than your average bear, they're yet more potential revenue to be extracted. If you don't believe FROM would sink this low, you must not know they're a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Kadokawa corporation. They do what their overlords say, and the execs at Kadokawa couldn't care less about quality video games, they care about the market that pays for them.

Actually, the brass wind instrument at the beginning is a French Horn or Mellophone. Yes, that is a Star Trek reference because it is tradition now with their themes to have that kind of instrument. It's the most unique instrument in that it's the one that produces the most "human-like" tones. Learned this a long time ago in band class. The "it's not our story, but your story" bit is literally saying, "we plotted several different pre-planned outcomes in this game, but in the end only one of them is correct for follow-on releases." This is the biggest bs I've ever heard. It's ok to love a company, game or franchise passionately as long as you don't shill for them and support them even after they screw you over. The fact that he is critical of Bethesda after loving them like many gamers (inc me) did literally shows that he is NOT blinded. If he was he wouldn't be criticizing them in the first place. Bethesda deserves the hate and more. It's 100% of their own making and incompetence. Sht Todd even bragged about how he NEVER ever thinks about what new stuff they can add to their game or franchise. He says they exclusively focus on what they can remove, combine and simplify. The guy got all the cred for oblivion etc when he had little to do with those games and how they turned out aside from holding back the devs. Bethesda hasn't made a good game since oblivion. Skyrim was a long fetch quest simulator with zero consequences to any of your actions, zero interesting quests etc. The Witcher 3 made Skyrim look like a kid's school project. Bethesda is a mess. Their games suck. Their leadership is incompetent. Their devs are hired contractors. And everyone with a drop of talent, everyone that made the original TES, morrowind, oblivion etc they all left the company. Every philosophy pr idea Todd has on gaming is crp. He ruined oblivion and kept it from being way better, pushing the devs to make it.more like the horrible redguard game or the arena game. If he had his way oblivion would be a linear experience about a pirate or something. He told DICE that they should NEVER care about the fanbase and that fans or their opinions don't natter. That all that counts is that the devs follow their passion.. Which is why we have "great" games like bf2042 today. The devs followed their passion and even told th fans to "just not buy the game" (bfv) etc.

Here's the thing. Drawing big conclusions is exactly what trailers and gameplay presentations are there for. How else would be able to judge the game without needing to buy it? The marketing is a big factor in determining whether or not a customer gains any interest in buying the game. Given how much Bethesda has screwed over their fans and lied to them about various games, it's no wonder Kiloton has such a poor impression of Starfield.

So of course people will be appreciative for such games. now 10 years later you cant even run skyrim at 144hz with out mods even though they manage to re release the game a disgusting amount of times. fallout 76 made so many promises, but they were non existent upon release and the game was unplayable at launch. if it was a bad game that would be different, but it didn't even work. Bethesda games are all about the organic storytelling and the dynamic interactivity within the game world. Stuff that just happens, uniquely to you, making these games immersive as hell. There isn't much comparison to them, especially in the AAA sphere, outside of maybe Kingdom Come Deliverance, and parts of RDR2, and its indeed a unique subgenre of its own. Starfield's world seems to be a mix of curated/handcrafted areas, and procedurally generated areas. Exploration and roleplaying in the curated sections will likely be similar to what we expect from previous bethesda titles. But as for the procgen areas, Im really curious how they will facilitate roleplaying and exploration there. Mind you, ES2 was also a procgen world and its fans and devs provide a lot of really good arguments/ideas in favour of procgen worlds. Adopting procgen they have so many options they can look into for creating immersive experiences. Vastly evolved radiant systems maybe? Only time will tell.

Always a pleasure to spend an hour+ with you. AAA gaming is going places I'm not sure i want to go. Too many shopfronts and hand holding. Even in the games I enjoy everything is marked on your map and it's just go here, do that, go back, get reward. I say this as someone who's first console was a sega master system that I got brand new at 19yo, gaming has lost so much in the pursuit of money.

I don’t think every game should be designed like elden ring, exploration wise. It’s good from time to time, but if everyone was doing it, it wouldn’t be the same. I love dark souls, I’ve played nearly all souls games, but I don’t want every game to be that way cause then where’s the magic? Sometimes I like playing elden ring, other times I just wanna lay back and play something chill and braindead like skyrim.

@@BiggDickman Skyrim isn't brain dead , all the hidden items and vast open world with things still after years that everyone hasn't discovered yet? KZbin is part of what makes gaming dead because that kills the exploration part through content creator videos.

Games are decades away from a scenario where your choices actually influence the world/story/characters. The fact that choosing 1 of three factions and a few optional dialog choices or a few unseen NPCs is not writing your own story. Choices in games are meaningless.

Yea, it’s probably why I’ve gravitated to games like Project Zomboid. Because fuck your rail roads. There are some games that really give you actual freedom of choice. But these are never the AAA games. It’s stuff like Project Zomboid, Stalker Anomaly, stuff like that that actually gives you freedom of choice

@@stuglife5514 There's something so refreshing about not being the main character in a world where there is no real happy ending. You're not the hero. You're not gonna save the world, your not saving anyone. You likely won't even be able to save yourself Just like real life, everyone is the center of their own stories, but reality is always there, looming above you to remind you that the universe doesn't give a fuck about you or your story, and it can and will murder your ass on a whim.

"over a thousand planets", "you can land anywhere" yeah, Starfield is doomed. I don't get why those things are supposed to be good. He said it as if expecting the crowd to go wild... but we know what it means. Tbf, the cities did look good, big and busy, so if there's four of those and a decent story, it could be a good game.

I saw a tweet of the gameplay looking near Identical to No Man's Sky. Not only is it a hyped to heaven's Bethesda game but it is so derivative that it is incredibly laughable.
