I really like the way the traits are done, because they've made it easy for me to choose. I just look at the list and see that certain ones fit together naturally and should support at least four or five different playthroughs. That's great for me who overthinks everything. Now lets just hope the game is deep enough that it makes me want to do that many playthroughs.

3:08 I'm reasonably certain that Body Type is the "modern" way of selecting between Male and Female. Same with Walk Style, although I would be delighted if they have more variety here. One of the things that annoyed me about certain Skyrim mods that "fixed" Lydia was changing her Male walk animation for Female, and that just wasn't right: she's a warrior, she *should* have a low, balanced stance 5:45 Again, I get the feeling that they're simply going to combine "typical male and female" hairstyles, which is why they can afford to have so many. I don't consider this a bad thing, though... the more choices the better! I think we're not going to see any crazy-long hairstyles, though... we have to fit that hair into a space helmet. I suppose the Devs could include long hair, but when you're suited up, your hair kinda vanishes under a Danse-like coif 6:53 I guarantee that the last background on that list is Custom :) Personally, I'm a little disappointed there are no S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats anymore. I prefer starting a game with high stats but low skills... a "diamond in the rough", so to speak. As it stands, I feel like I'm going to start my character with zero weapon skills because in a typical game, those are the skills that rocket up first. I'm thinking Space Trucker/Smuggler: Starship Engineering, maybe Weight Lifting, and a little Bargaining? Traits! They all look so good, I don't know where to start :) I really want to try Kid Stuff just to see what Bethesda thinks my parents ought to look like and behave. Alien DNA makes it sound like something I chose later in life, but I prefer to think of it as being a Gene-formed Colonist (like Terraforming, except instead of adapting the planet to human life, they adapt humans to the planet: it's faster and cheaper). Carrying on with my Space Trucker theme, I have the idea of using Unwanted Hero/Hero Worshiped to represent a "guy/gal in every port" kinda thing :) 12:38 I'm guessing he meant just the negative effect of the Trait, like paying off your mortgage, learning to live with/without people, that kind of thing. I can't imagine just getting rid of your parents 14:23 It does look like a kind of hierarchy: I'm guessing it's from the top down, because that top tier seems to contain some of the skills we saw in Backgrounds. I'm further guessing that the greyed-out skills are ones we don't have yet. The skills that we do have seem to have a different border based on our rank in that skill. You can see this when they open up Ballistics @ 14:57 : solid white is Rank 1, double white Rank 2, solid gold Rank 3, double gold Rank 4

I agree on the body style and walk, kinda what I thought as well. I’m also wondering if we can have more skin tone colors than the usual. Certainly in a game about space we should be able to if it was in other games they’ve made hah. Also so glad we have beards haha.
@SilentSooYun Жыл бұрын
@boristhehuman6180 I feel that the bigger/smaller body types are already handled with the triangle-slider bit. Short and tall usually interfere with cinematics and animation, so I'm not going to complain... in fact, since both body types are the same height, I suppose one could just call them "flat" and "curvy" if one is really determined to eliminate gender. That said, it seems we're going to spend 80-90% of the game dressed as Mr. Stay-Puft so how much is shape really going to matter at the end of the day? :)
@_i_a_n_ Жыл бұрын
In the skills around 16:00 I hope the challenges are counted retroactively, so if I had 250 ballistic kills and 4 skill points I could go and get all 4 levels. If it always starts at zero each time you level up, even if you had already accomplished the challenge before the prior level, that's going to be very grindy.
@starfieldsignal Жыл бұрын
That's a really good point. I can see how that would be frustrating, especially for the things you'll do naturally in the course of playing like using healing items or persuading people in the dialogue system. Hopefully it will passively update those rankings.

5:10ish... "Head Shapes" could be a batch of Preset combo of features on the Head, including but not limited to 'Square Jaw' vs 'not-Square Jaw', Cheekbones, Eye Spacing, Nostril Width, Nose Height, how much or little 'hooked' the Nose will be, poofiness/thinness of Lips, etc. Perhaps a Head equivalent of a 'Preset'...? 6:23ish... I'm a fan of ability to be able to make Characters with Heterochromia Eyes! :D 18:55ish... I wonder if there's any Mechanics where it could be a thing to explore something like a searing hot oxygenless Moon and have enemy attacks, very rough terrain, or such 'breach' the Suit and set ya on the road to suffocating from oxygen loss and overheating to death at the same time...? Or imagine having to worry about freezing to death on a Ice Planet if your Suit gets so much as a nick in it and ya can't get back to the safety of your Ship in time... End of Vid... Hard not to wonder if it's possible to get enough Levels to get enough Skill Points to Max Rank every Skill on the List, or if it'll be limited and choice important...?
@mygetawayart Жыл бұрын
That's exactly what i thought aswell. They made deeper classic RPG mechanics more accessible. Essentially they reached a compromise between the complexity of early Elder Scrolls games with the accessibility of Skyrim and Fallout 3/4. Sometimes i go back and revisit the character creators in Arena and Daggerfall and i'm baffled by how complicated they were (for the sake of really nailing the background you wanted to have but still complicated and inaccessible to most players). I think Oblivion might've had the best character creator in terms of balance between complexity and accessibility but i think Starfield surpassed it by also having very beautiful looking characters, a deeper cosmetic customization and the Traits system. THe only thing i would like is class creation, but considering the classes we'll have are mainly stat-based, it's not hard to imagine one of the first mods for the game to be one for class creation.

Background is a more curated form of the G.O.A.T. from Fallout 3. The Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test was a little test you took in Vault 101. Your test answers were used to place you into a humorous Vault job and set your starting skill bonuses. You could change your bonuses if you didn't like the results. Same thing here but streamlined and placed in the character creator.
@kyriosmalaka2312 Жыл бұрын
The skill system seems like a nice marriage between Fallout perks with Skyrim leveling. But unlike Skyrim, I like how the upgrade task is clearly delineated and right in your face. This makes them feel like Fallout 76 challenges to be honest. I'll just have to remember to tell myself that it's okay not to kill those 250 enemies with a ballistic weapon in one day. I hope there are some really cool challenges for the ship-related perks. I'm ready to go full Elite Grinderous for those.

Yeah too bad the ui for it is not that creative. I mean the badges are, but the blocks of badges is kinda odd. Not like skyrims cool constellation visuals (although that is way more annoying to try and find skills so I get the simple is better argument). But seems like it could be laid out the same way just like, show the badges on a cloth background or wooden texture to mesh more in the look for the badges that have very clear thread textures. Just an interesting choice hah. I love the badge look so seeing it enhanced in more immersive background would be neat

It looks like the skills/leveling in this game will be like a mix between the Elder Scrolls and Fallout methods. It is obvious from the gameplay shown so far that we'll get experience points from fighting and doing missions and whatnot like in Fallout but in order to advance our skills to their more powerful/useful versions we'll need to actually use those skills in gameplay much like in the Elder Scrolls games. I honestly think that is a good blend to have rather than having things like the level restrictions on perks advancement in Fallout 4 or the only leveling up by using and leveling skills method of the Elder Scrolls games.

Another great video addition to your channel! It does look like the character creation in Starfield is going to offer a lot of depth! Regarding the skill tree, it appears to me like you may have to unlock these skills before you can apply the points to increase the level. Level 4 was “available” and the progress was 250/250 before they added the point. We shall see.
@starfieldsignal Жыл бұрын
Yes, you will spend one skill point to unlock the base skill, and then complete the challenges to rank up.
@ADMNtek Жыл бұрын
that's what I'm thinking as well. finishing the challenge makes the next rank available to purchase with a skill point. similar to Skrim where using a skill would raise its level and make new perks available but you would still have to invest perk points to unlock new stuff. only that somewhat more specific. instead, of levelling just combat your level of individual skills by doing those challenges.

Researching distortion cannons to take down ship shields would sure feel odd if it were to fall under the little handgun pew pew research icon. Maybe there's a shipyard research branch found in the outpost development section? Maybe we just buy it all? I'm much the confused.

A bit late to comment, but just wanted to say that Starfield character creation takes the step to remove gender selection from body selection and place it as perceived gender, which is why they will have to have pronoun selection so that the NPCs in the game know to how to perceive the character and react appropriately. Also, the character's appearance can be changed at any genetics modification clinic. This gives the player a lot of freedom to experiment playing the game with different appearances or even gender.

Everything you see here aesthetically was already in Fallout 4. The traits are nice touch, but ultimately are stat buffs / debuffs. The walk style is simply masculine or feminine as in fallout 4, the difference is now you can choose independant of gender. What is lacking is fallout 4 face morphing that allows truly unique faces, not just nose, mouth, eye presets. Backgrounds will be acknowledged by npcs in the early prologue main quests, but is yet to be seen if your background affects npc dialogue further into the game or on side quests. These are all my presumptions

I really hope that the hair grows in our face and becomes a real issue that we have to manage.. Neglected to mention RDR2 hopes you to maintain a healthy weight and wear extra clothing in mountainous conditions... I imagine Starfield will be 10 times more progressive than Skyrim and a lot of this will probably be in the game hopefully..

On the presets, I'd figure on 16, just cause its a nice number to work with, 8 guys 8 girls, with like two variants for each genders ethnicity, like two white girls, two again guys, that kind of thing. Some base characters from which to spread out

It appears we wont have layered clothing but rather sets and i couldnt possibly be more dissapointed and pissed about this. The one thing about bethisda games was that i could look how I wanted. I swear if there is no gore at all, rng looting, microtransactions and only clothing sets I wont be playing this game. I was so hyped but the more i see it the more steral and safe the game looks. I was expecting a massive game tge hype was high. Now im just expecting dissapointment. If there is any microtransaction of any kind no one should play or buy it to send the message that they dont belong there amd we dont want their predatory profiteering.

I bet that there will be a similar clothing system to Fallout 76. And I think that we will have that clothing appear in the cash shop as well. We see our character wearing a hab suit. That's basically underarmor. We see all types of different outfits that we should be able to mix and match as we like. Just because Bethesda didn't go lunatic and dress up a guy in a poodle skirt wearing 3D glasses and a fez doesn't mean that you can't when you find those types of items in game. Just don't expect to see the crazy outfit where you have to wear an environmental suit over everything else so that your character doesn't die on Pluto.

Will it be crossplay between xbox and pc
@kyriosmalaka2312 Жыл бұрын
It's a single player game.

It is a single player game, but through xcloud and gamepass you might be able to play the same saves across different platforms. So start on your xbox in the morning. Then play a little on your pc throughout the day on the same playthrough. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe other games have this functionality.

You can be a chef in this game? So food is a part of the game
@starfieldsignal Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's kind of interesting. It seems to have some gameplay mechanics as well, so maybe more than just simple health/stamina recovery.
