I've been at it for maybe 20 mins now and had a couple decent rolls so far but nothing crazy. I was actually getting way better stated armor from one of the high leveled enemies in this dungeon earlier but figured rolling a good set on this armor would be easier since it's guaranteed 3 effects on each piece. Here's what I think is good to go after imo: Assisted Carry: Drain 75% less O2 while running while encumbered Mechanized: +40 carry capacity Weapon Holsters: Weapons weigh 50% less Chameleon: Blend with environment while sneaking and not moving Sentinel: 75% chance to reduce damage by 50% while standing still O2 Boosted: +20% oxygen capacity O2 Filter: -25% oxygen consumption Resource Hauler: Resources weigh 25% less Mirrored: 4% chance to reflect attacks Incendiary: 10% chance to ignite nearby attackers Combat Veteran: -15% damage from Human enemies Anti-Ballistics: -15% damage from ranged weapons Any combo of these is what I want. Great guide as always 👌🏻 I highly recommend to anyone reading this, that once you get to the mantis outfit case, save your game and then open the case and if its not good stats then simply reload your save and keep trying until you get a god roll. Because of this I have 305 carry capacity and loads more o2.

Neat! I didn't know about the Difficulty switching... just tuck that away for later :) I was _just_ on my way to do this when I got Bethesda'd (distracted by a random "I'll just knock this out right quick" dungeon crawl that turned into an epic, worlds-spanning Event: "Groundpounder" if you're curious). This is a _very_ easy mission to miss if you aren't paying attention to the Optionals

I was doing that mission up until the spaceship combat segment, then got locked out of a main quest cause there were enemies orbiting a planet I needed to be on and I couldn't kill them. Had to reload to earlier in the mission before those enemies spawned.

Thank you for this tidbit, I had ventured off of the beaten path but when you mentioned the "beginning of the story" that put me back on the main quest and sure enough the "secret outpost" dropped. I am now the proud owner of the ship and all it's glory, also thanks for that exploit tip :). Luckily I had expert lock picking and was able to grab all of the safes, current level 7.

Does the armor / ship's power correlate with your level? I know that was a thing in Skyrim where if you get a unique item early on it won't be as strong as if you got it at max level.

Nope. Unique items are fixed stat wise. Only the legendary options roll when you open the case

I play on Xbox Series X and accidentally found out that even if you open the case, as long as you don't take anything you can still re-roll. I found a good combo and saved it to "lock it in", wrote down the save and the roll I had, went back to the save later only to find new perks 😩 omg I spent hours to get that good roll and you actually have to TAKE pieces in order to lock it in.. I was doing some "for-science-ing" and before you ask, you can't just take one piece at a time, sadly.. but it's good to know that if you accidentally opened the case and saved, you CAN still reroll as long as you don't actually TAKE anything from the case 👍

FYI : If you save before picking up the armor and you don't like the stats, reload and see what the new armor rolls. Edit: While I played around with the difficulty, I didn't really notice an increase in chance for better armor stat rolls on very hard vs very easy. This is a subset of one however, so take this with a grain of salt.

Looks like I'm starting over a third time. Already did the mission where bodies have a chance to drop the notes. I swear I checked everyone that was dead (looking for picks and whatnot) but I do not have those notes. Worth doing it again for that ship though. I was only at lvl 8 anyway. Edit: So I went back to a lvl 1 save and when I got the correct mission and found the note, I went and got the ship and armor. Thanks so much for this!

I picked the mission up from spacers right after Flirting with Sarah before meeting Sam Coe, I got it at the Junkyard on a moon in Alpha Centauri but I guess u can get it anywhere after completing the first mission for constellation

What happens to your old ship? When you leave in the new one, you leave the old one there. So do you always trade one ship for another one? I'm comming from Star Citizen and there you can just claim a ship when you need it and it's somewhere else. Does Starfield has a system like that too?

Just fyi idk if anyone said anything but the mantis armor does not have guaranteed stats. For instance I got mine with resource weight reduction o2 consumption reduced by 75% while encumbered and a chance to stun surrounding enemies. To get the stats you want save outside the building then reload until it has the perks you want. I recommend setting it on easy or normal as to speed up the process if you're going to save scum.

Just a FYI. the armor perks are totally random. my armor had +40 carry weight. :) and the pack had another 20.. you can save and reload if you dont like the armor you get.

I don't think this counts as stealing/pirating. It's a mission/sidequest reward. When I flew it the first time, I got a pop-up saying something along the lines of "this is your new homeship"

Jump to some closer planets to get yourself close enough to jump to it, or upgrade your grav drive on your ship.

Loading hard difficulty to get better loot and then lowering to play is so cheesy 😂 the game is fun without cheesing and it feels like the challenges are very well balanced to current levels. Just me but you can easily ruin a game by doing this kind of stuff. I did this in Oblivion and it’s infinite invisibility and then the game got boring
