my proposed balance adjustments: envoy: fine as is mystic: 3 spell slots max per level. 4 is too much on top of everything it has operative: remove fighter proficiency and ranged reactive strike. maybe give its aim action a +1 circumstance bonus to hit on the attack? solarion: let solar flare use strength and let it scale with accuracy, and buff some of the feats. maybe fighter accuracy with solar weapon but that might be too much. soldier: is as fine witchwarper: like mystic, 3 spell slots per level. it does NOT need 4. maybe buff the anchors a little bit? those felt underwhelming to me personally when i read the playtest.

What you missed with the soldier is that firing into an area costs 2 actions so you can not fire again with your third action (and can not hold enough guns to do so. Also, the soldier is highly dependent on enemy saves, which if you ever looked at the numbers... they are AWFUL. Enemies saves are much higher than their AC and while you can buff your attacks and debuff your enemies' AC you can not buff your save DC and rarely if ever can debuff their saves. I ran 5 combats while having a soldier and because of the nature of how PF2e works they are underpowered, in one combat the enemies were taking cover every turn which improved them to greater cover having +4 to AC, the soldier could use area fire to center the AoE behind them ignoring the cover and despite that it was still better for him to ignore his main class feature and roll a single attack roll against an enemy's AC+4 rather than to ask them for a reflex save
@PsiPrimeProductions12 ай бұрын
Uh, I mean, they can? Auto Fire for 2 actions . . . free 'primary target' fire, third action, fire normally (assuming you are using an autofire weapon like the rotolaser.) Also, and I didn't mention this in the video, Autofire Save DCs are increased by your targeting module. So a soldier ends up with legendary in class DCs+3 on top of that for saves, making their saves the hardest to resist in the game at higher levels. Also, the Envoy's base ability is to debuff reflex saves with Get 'em, and Frightened from intimidation also debuffs all saves. I mean, I believe you in that your soldier had a tough time. Sorry about that. If you think they need a buff at earlier levels, that's valid. I'm just bringing up some counter arguments.
@joserenatomigliorini46272 ай бұрын
@@PsiPrimeProductions1 I have played at higher levels and it is better there but not enough to make them good. Specially with how much slower class DCs go up compared to attack DCs (though they did make it only go up 2 levels slower). Frightened is indeed one condition that will reduce saves but it is often a -1 and hard to maintain, while off guard and a mirriad of other things will reduce enemy's ACs by 2 and stack with one another. Due to the +3 from tracking it will be able to not fall that much behind but does not change the numbers, enemies will still be saving a lot due to the core of how the system works

To your thoughts and example on Hair Trigger, Sniper Rifles (Shirren-eye/Assassin Rifles) have the unwieldy trait and can't be used as a part of Strikes that are triggered from a reaction. The Seeker Rifle (d10 120ft range) is the most "sniper-y" gun that would work with it, thought that might make it edge out the other rifles I think that's fine as there should be a reason to not just auto-pick the Fatal d12 weapons. Edit: Same feedback for the Soldier. The unwieldy trait prevents most of what you're worried about.

@@PsiPrimeProductions1 specific features allow that, but not in the example where you're making 2 strikes after an area fire. Once feats get into it I'm sure it'll be more powerful, I've only playtested three sessions so far and it's all been level 1 so things will change. I think the Rotolaser is fine as well because it's not as much damage as an unwieldy weapon. The level 4 feat Punishing Salvo will be more dangerous with the Zero/Stellar cannons, but the Overwhelming Assault feat will be better for auto-fire weapons without unwieldy so it's a pretty balanced choice imo.

So, from what I'm getting from this video is, in your opinion: Envoys are just fine. Mystics and Witchwarpers might be slightly overpowered (Although, Oracle also gets 4 slots per rank and Light armor training). Solarian could use a boost (especially in its ranged options). Soldiers might be slightly overpowered. And Operative is definitely overpowered and needs a few nerfs (And yeah, I think, if Hair Trigger is going to stay in some form, they should lower their weapon proficiency to Master, and decrease the range [perhaps 20-30 ft?] and possibly limit how frequently you can use it too). But anyways, glad to hear your thoughts on the playtest class, PPP!

@@PsiPrimeProductions1 I don't fully disagree. Although, if I had to guess, giving them both light armor proficiency is probably to account for the increased number of ranged attacks they'll be dealing with. Especially since the playtest material mentions the idea of a 'ranged meta' Like, as an example: Spellcasting classes GET light armor proficiency when used in Starfinder, and Starfinder spellcasting classes LOSE light armor proficiency when used in Pathfinder?

Hair trigger is insane. Thaumaturge gets implement interruption, where you can do Reactive strikes and interrupt actions. But you can do it only within 10ft. Target needs to be marked with exploit. Primary target actually has the same MAP as the area/auto fire did. If that was no MAP because the area/auto attack was the first thing you did this round, then primary target strike also has no MAP. And since it doesn’t contribute to MAP either, it means if you do a follow up 3rd action strike, its only at -5 from the initial area attack. Though you will run into the unwieldy trait preventing this if you don’t get around it somehow.

I haven't had a chance to dig in yet, but I'm hoping that a reflavored shadow mystic could be the stealth party priest I've been thinking about in Pathfinder. I recognize its power level, but I am more interested if it meets the fantasy than if it is more OP than cleric. I've never been a fan of repertoire casters, I wonder if a "fix" to the 4 slot issue people are noting would be addressed by basically giving it cleric spellcasting as a prepared 3 slot caster.
