Haha...a lot of my friends that like him have no idea he was on this show. I usually make jokes about the his role on Atlantis in another galaxy fighting vampiric aliens, becoming Conan, destroyer of tyrants, then becoming khal Drogo, lover of blondes, and then becoming a super hero that surfs on para-demons and finally ruler of Atlantis. I get weird looks. But i have created quite a few SG Atlantis fans.

@@Ragitsu Honestly, I always saw the Wraith as a more tragic species. They only way they can interact with other civilizations is by feeding on them, and in order to survive they've got to kill other people for sustenance. If that retrovirus that gave Todd the ability to eat like a human again worked properly it could herald a new era for the Wraith, one where they have the option to work with others.

@@Ragitsu True, but I suppose it's better to enjoy what you need to do in order to survive instead of actively loathing it. I mean, just look at that teenage Wraith Queen who was raised by a human. She hated what she became, and used that experimental retrovirus to try and make herself human, only to end up turning into a feral monster.

To me it was enemies, in SG you got egyptian wanna be gods starting with better tech than earth using hordes of human followers with staff weapons (and that got nerfed into oblivion) followed by middle ages wanna be gods starting with better tech than earth using hordes of human followers with staff weapons. While wraiths were basically space vampires who were threat to atlantis all the time even after getting asgard stuff.

Todd was a good character. A bit of villainy but honor. Cared for his people but smart enough to see that human allies were worth the effort. I read some fan fiction of Atlantis and as soon as they killed Todd, I stopped reading. In the perfect Wrath are gone finale, been nice to see a humanized Todd cause Christopher Heyerdahl is a wonderful person. One of the best additions to the Stargate Universe.

He’s a great grey villain in that he has foresight to see the benefit of working with humans, and his experience with Shepard shows that he can trust and respect them, but he will always protect his own and make decisions for his own needs, if it comes to it. Todd was an AMAZING addition to the show overall. A villain with his own agenda, but someone who could be honorable... in his own way, by at least TRYING to honor an agreement. Even if that agreement had a hidden agenda that benefited him more than anyone else, he wasn't the type to outright BREAK a deal once made. Sure, he might have left some things unspoken, and kept his own agenda to himself, but he never fully "betrayed" anyone unless he felt betrayed first, such as the Atoro project, which was admirable..... making him a great "villain" to work off of, but good "ally" as well.

He was definitely the most practical of his kind. You could tell he was smart enough to know his species was in an unsustainable state and needed to change. All of his kin were set in their ways but you could tell he was unafraid to challenge the status quo for his people. He saw how crafty and capable humans were and clearly admired them as we see with Shepperd. He took traits, technology, and tactics that the sgc were using and applied them in an attempt to save his species. Dude was definitely in the top 3 for most well written characters in SGA

I loved Todd, Him and that little girl showed that the wraith were terrifying on a new scale, that they were monsters by their biology, which had not been done in Stargate before (at least as far as I can recall). Every other Bad guy could have been beaten down and walked away, agreeing to peace, or finding ones like the Tok'ra who had differing moral values. The wraith were genocide or bust, even Todd needed to steal human lifespan just to live. Sure they came up with a cure eventually, but until then, it was always a war of extermination.
@John73John
@John73John Жыл бұрын
The Replicators (at least, the Milky Way version) were pretty much monsters by their... um... robotics, not biology, but it's the same concept. The bugs were only driven by the basic need to collect materials to make more of themselves, so they couldn't be reasoned with. The human forms had capacities for higher thought but ultimately it didn't make a difference. Fifth, and later Replicarter, had no morals and if you think you're having a successful negotiation with them it's only because they're manipulating you for some larger goal and will betray you as soon as it's convenient.

the Wraith have the option of just creating a human cloning plant for food its hinted by Todd in a later episode when the cure came they were afraid as their whole culture/way of life/ technology was based on hunting viewing human as food. the change was simply too big as would of destroyed everything they ever knew.
@John73John

@@matthewhungerford1861 If I remember correctly the wraith cloning facilities took a ton of power, so much in fact that they couldn't really run it without a ZPM. So it's much more practical to just let the humans grow and multiply on their own.
