The Ori probably started out that way, but even the best of religions fall victim to the desire of maintaining control. And maintaining control works best with terror and fear, at least on those surviving that terror.

I gotta appreciate just how honest and straight they are with the village leader- yeah, so, our version is that you're being lied to and threatened, we've seen other peoples wiped out, we'll help you as much as we can, but that might not be enough, it's your call and we have an opinion on the right one, but like, idk man, it's a tough spot and we can't really prove anything because it's all so complicated. Essentially laying it all out in the open as best they can and promising to back the village's play as best they can.

Only the Asgard in the original series seemed to weaponize beaming tech, and then only twice. Their first appearance and then later when O'Neil played NID pawn. SGA also did it a few times against the wraith, but even then they did it badly. Seems nearly everyone who has it is fairly incompetent at using it effectively.

At 3:14 Teal'c delivers one of the stankiest eyebrows in the whole series. Normally the eyebrow comes with a dignified and knowing pretense, this one was just a raw "Who the hell are you?"

I miss the shit out of Stargate. Not including SG:U Stargate was just proper good action, fun, minimal blood and gore, great characters and humour in the right place.

Universe was pretty great too, except for Season 1, where it lost most of its' viewers, leading to it getting cancelled... S01 really was a messed up soap opera, but after that the show got quite good, only it was too late already...

Its a medieval village. Explaining that would involve explaining a great deal more about science, physics, physiology and evolution while these people are likely still worshiping superstitious pagan beliefs for the rain and keeping away illness. They likely wouldn't have grasped the concept at all. At least, not in the time SG1 had before Darth!Daniel showed up.

DaVinci Code was based on Holy Blood Holy Grail... which is based on the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Testament of John and the Testament of Mary. Obviously, the Davici Code is a fiction book, but the details of the bible history are very true... especially the part where Jesus and Mary were married and had a daughter. This little fact is commonly accepted around the world... but somehow SHOCKING in the U.S.
