Stargate was so good, because they carefully expanded on details. Like, i had never realized this is a prime example of why Jack would want to be reassigned, as he was in a position to either order Prometheus To destroy the Al'Quesh, with Daniel and Sam on board (not knowing about Teal'c yet), or let them escape with the Gate. Imagine having to make that order for a team you spent years beside.

What's even cooler about the scene is the look of confusion on everyone's faces after Jack says "yeah, tough choice". They didn't get it, just how hard it was to have to make that call, it was easy for Daniel to say he should have just blown it up (and Jack would have too if he was still doing missions). Big ol' plot hole here--they act like getting off the ship was crucial, along with the gate. But they could have easily overpowered the woman in the cockpit and taken control of the al'kesh and just returned to Earth. In fact, it would be the smart thing to do, rather than the leave the Trust in control of a hyper-capable alien ship they'd already shown they could get up to plenty of mischief with.
@BYERE2 жыл бұрын
IKR? That’s my question too. It seems silly to leave all that tech and intel, not to mention the ship, in the hands of the Trust. Even if it went to hyperspace before they could overpower her, and she had locked out the controls, Carter would have just jargoned her way into taking them out of hyperspace and turning the ship around.
@robertdrexel20432 жыл бұрын
I always thought that either they didn't know how many other Trust Agents where onboard, or couldn't make it to the cockpit in time to prevent the ship from jumping into hyperspace. Remember the Prometheus was seconds away from blowing the ship away when they detected the beacon. Shrug. Still somewhat of a plot hole but not all that big really.

I agree. Between the 3 of them, it shouldn't have been hard to retake the ship and return it to earth. But then, there are a bunch of inconsistencies in the story. When they're trying to destroy Anubis' superweapon mothership, they sneak on board using the rings so they can locate the 'venting shaft' and transmit it to the F302. If they could get on board, they could get a naquadria-enhanced nuke on board. You'd think that'd be easier.

I know it’s a cargo ship, but given their designed to be flown by just 1 person, the cockpit area is REALLY spacious. You’d think it would be smaller to add more cargo space. Also, why didn’t Teal’c just rush to the front of the ship and take out the other woman before she got the ship to go to hyperspace? It’s literally only the next room over
@Ragitsu2 жыл бұрын
The Al'kesh is a mid-range bomber (as opposed to a cargo ship).
@Tantalus0102 жыл бұрын
Teal'c probably didn't want to risk missing the shot. Yes, it's short range and he's an excellent marksman, but there are no guarantees in actual combat. Too many things can go horribly wrong if he misses in the cockpit: he could damage the controls (which could do any number of terrible things in a sci-fi plot) or simply punch a hole through the glass, which would explosively decompress the whole cockpit.
@BYERE2 жыл бұрын
@@Tantalus010 That's fair, but when I say "take out", he wouldn't necessarily have to shoot her. Him, Sam, and Daniel could have entered from both sides of the cockpit and forced her to surrender by each training weapons at her (so that she wouldn't have a chance to move or attack without the others taking her down)... or he could have just bull-rushed and wrestled her to the ground, as I doubt she'd have been any kind of physical match for Teal'c. That way, the SGC would not only have recovered the stargate, the team, and the intel... but also have captured her as a prisoner for interrogation.

@@d.s.151 That's my mistake. Been a long while since I watched SG-1. Even so, there's a lot of room in the back of the ship (presumably for bomb storage), and not much need for such a large cockpit.
