I love this exchange: Goauld Scientist - "We will need to select a target." Anubis - "How fortunate that there is a city before us." Goauld Scientist - "I am unsure of the destructive power of this weapon, the blast radius from a single shot could conceivably encompass the entire city." Anubis - "If it does, you will have my congratulations." That is some Sith level badassery right there. Anubis' lines and delivery are as chilling as his theme music.

The Anubis arc with his obsession over superweapons and giant ships, is a homage to the original Star Wars movies. He even dresses in black robes like Emperor Palpatine and has limited ascended powers, which is this universe's equivalent of the Force.

"But sir. What if it destroys the entire city?" "Yes."

@@bangscutter Not the force, He is the equivalent of the Q in Star Trek. This isn't fantasy mumbo jumbo.
@theyux13 жыл бұрын
@@KLamki1 uh no, Even the ancients are not equivalent to the Q. Anubis is more on par with the borg maybe a little more powerful. In general ships are much much faster than Star Trek ships, intergalactic travel is not a normal thing in Trek. But shielding tech in Star Trek is far more powerful. But at the end of the day Anubis is not even a reality warper.
@KLamki13 жыл бұрын
@@theyux1 I disagree, Q and Ascended are on a similar level if not more so. Quinn states very clearly that the Q are not all knowing and all powerful. They like to brag they're God but they're not. *"You mustn't think of us as omnipotent, no matter what The Continuum would like you to believe. You and your ship seem incredibly powerful to life-forms without your technical expertise. It's no different with us. We may appear omnipotent to you, but believe me, we're not."* Anubis isn't remotely on the same level of the Borg... good luck trying to assimilate a incorporeal being. The Q wouldn't have a problem smacking him around though because he literally forbidden to use any of his powers and has been depowered like Q was when he annoyed the Continuum.

Interestingly enough when he was campaigning to be readmitted as a System Lord Anubis (through Osiris) argued that he was the only one who could fortify the Goa'uld Empire against threats from other galaxies. In Star Wars Legends Darth Sidious arguably devoted a chunk of his career to fortifying the galaxy against the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

I love how Jack shoots in an upward fashion at 2:13, yet all the sparks and hits on the jaffa come from the side at a 90 degree angle from where Jack would have been aiming. That's some damn fancy shooting!

@@archangel6676 What are you talking about? He's using a P90 at that point... which, as pointed out by Carter in an earlier episode (where she demonstrates one to a group of rebel Jaffa), holds a 50-round magazine. If you're talking about just before that, between the moment he picks up the pistol (2:02) and when he shoots the Jaffa with the P90, he fires 15 shots, going by the gunshot sounds. Looking it up (I'm assuming it's a Beretta M9, as that's the default pistol used by the US Armed Forces), they can come with a 10 or 15-chamber magazine/clip. I'd say it was pretty accurate.
@archangel66763 жыл бұрын
@@BYERE he started off with a pistol if you notice correctly which should only hold 10 rounds but he fired near 50 BEFORE he picks up the p90
@BYERE3 жыл бұрын
@@archangel6676 The start of this clip and the point where he picks up the handgun are two very different parts of the episode. The first 2 minutes of this clip skips over around 15 minutes of the episode. By the time it shows Jack picking up the pistol, they've already been betrayed by one of the world leaders and disarmed by Anubis' First Prime and co. Whomever the pistol belonged to... probably Jonas Quinn, since he was by that end of the table, while Jack wasn't anywhere near there when they were disarmed... will likely have kept it fully loaded, even if they'd fired earlier in the episode. As I pointed out, AFTER Jack picks up the gun he only fires 15 shots, and an M9 can hold a 15-chamber magazine/clip.

Well, now I get it why was Thoth so fearful of his owner. Anubis would have disposed of him the moment he believed Thoth wasn't as valuable for him as before. It was funny, to see that big guy lower his gaze and cower in fear each time his Lord came by. Now it hella isn't. He could have easily ended up like this scientist, it seems.

Anubis is still not that evil or even comes close to the Ori. I just think that Ori are far more evil with the whole concept of creating a religion that basically transfers lifeforce of mortals to them. Ori are the ultimate vampires. Anubis is sort of stupid with his plan of destroying all life in the galaxy or even the universe. He will never grow and never gain power but Ori actually did by using mortals.
@Marcus510905 жыл бұрын
Anton Goykhman in season 11 (that was close to being made) anuibis in his half ascended form was meant to learn of the ori galaxy, travel their and assume their power. Remember he still has his ascended powers he is forbidden to use them however or the others will destroy him, in the ori galaxy he assumes all their power by them worshiping him and as a result is safe from the others. It was billed as a dark season many deaths major characters etc to bring it to a close
