Those "cracks" are actually the borders of convective cells. 2:02 Incorrect, the convective zone is convective because it is not ionized. Deeper down you will get ionized gas. Energy transport is via convection in the outer layers until you hit the radiative zone where the gases are ionized.

just a fun fact, the sun isnt yellow, it just seems yellow from earth because the 'blue' and 'violet' spectrum photons get refracted by the earth's atmosphere, thats why the sky is blue, so we're left by the rest of the spectrum colors in space, the sun is white, cause the fusion reaction is releasing every photon in both the visible and non visible spectrums
