STARLINK PURCHASE WARNING!!! IS THERE A THREE DIGIT $$$ HIDDEN FEE?

This is my experience buying the Starlink Unit. Make sure you watch before you buy! Have you experienced the same thing?

I hope you're not trying to blame Starlink because the secondary retailer deceived you. This is not Starlink's fault. You did the right thing returning it to the retailer. Now go buy one from Starlink like you should have done to begin with.

You were deceived by the online seller. Not by Starlink. As you said, if you bought it from Starlink. You wouldn't have been hit with the fee. I wouldn't buy a cellphone from some rando in a parking lot and expect it to work with carrier.

@@chuckularone thanks for sharing your opinion however, your comparison is not an apples to apples comparison. I bought it from Amazon, not just some random retailer. And it should be very clear and in this case it wasn’t.

@@FLYANDRIDE15 "random retailer" and "amazon" is the same. Amazon is just the better verison of E-Bay. In your case some random dude bought Starlink kit in another country for much cheaper prices, brought it to US and sold it to you. Starlink don't like this kind of behavior and implemented a punishment (region fee). You can buy any starlink terminale originally sold in US and use it without any problem, but avoid terminales from other countries

@@FLYANDRIDE15 Amazon is full of scammers for example look at USB sticks you will find a lot with 1 TB size …. All of them are scams and Amazon will not do anything with that …

When I was researching Starlink before my purchase, I went on KZbin. I went everywhere so I was well informed of what I was getting into.

@ at the time it was not a concern for me because I wasn’t going to be going anywhere. You wouldn't have had an issue if you activated it at home, then confirm you were on the mobile plan. You will have no issues when roaming after that. It stated on that email to cancel your service and activate it again at home. Also, if you reconsider and buy direct from Starlink in the future, use a different email address.

You and I are a LOT alike...I am ok with the fee's as long as they are UP FRONT about them...the minute I feel like I am getting back door'd I am out and will be VERY long time before I even consider coming back. I have been in the same boat with my 2015 SG on a number of occasions, where they push for me to bring it in to do trade in numbers and then I feel like they wasted my time, as the offers are so below blue book its pathetic...I finally decided just keep it...and have done that with ALL my bikes and if I put them up for sale it will be for what I believe they are worth and will just leave it. I have ALWAYS gotten what I was asking for all the bikes I have sold this last decade (and its always been FAR MORE than what the lowballers all tell me they are worth!! LOLZ). I looked at the CVO ST and at the LowRider ST...but I am not paying over MSRP, heck not even MSRP...I am waiting to see if they have a CVO LowRider ST....as thats something I would possibly be interested in. If they dont, then I will look at possibly a BMW M1000XR or something on that side of the fence... :D

Its so easy to justify in my head as to why the next bike will be so much better....HAHHAHAH. You are the same way I am SURE!! Your garage and mine are a LOT alike...most people with multiple bikes have same train of thought. I have actually been mulling over building a custom Bobber...whether its Triumph (liek a steampunk bobber) or Indian (slapping the big back tire and fender eliminator on it)...but then the performance side of my brain kicks in and suddenly I am back in Ducati/BMW land or doing a big bore Harley...LOLZ....the struggle is REAL!!! 😛 But OBVIOUSLY its first world problems....LOLOL. If my 25 year old self was looking at me now, while sitting in a desert with a rifle in my hand serving in the USMC and making 400 bux every 2 weeks I would simply slap myself and say STFU and go ride one of the bikes you already got.... 😀

I checked the trade in price for my Pan America earlier this year. It was laughable. I do not need to get rid of it so it was easy to walk away, but I was surprised. I'll just keep it and maybe look for a second bike. One that does not come with the Harley Tax probably.

roaming is unlimited so what does it matter where you buy and activate it. If I buy it and activate it in the US then go use it in the UK is should cost the same to use it so literally why does this matter. This is some shady garbage right there

Apparently you did not buy it from an authorized seller. Your gripe should be with the seller/retailer of the equipment not Starlink. Do your research is the moral of the story.
