Thank you for sharing your story. I am so happy to hear that your bad experience with people did not result in you walking away from God. This is why it is so important for every Christian to study the Bible for themselves so that they can identify false teachings, false teachers and false prophets. People twist the Bible and use it to manipulate and control people and even well meaning people take it out of context. I grew up reading the Bible but I just read bits here and there. I didn't really absorb it and didn't read it from cover to cover. Reading the Bible was more of a tick box procedure growing up. I thought I understood God because I went to Church and grew up around Christians and Christian teachings. In my 30s I started studying the Bible. I was shocked how much I didn't know and how much is taken out of context. The Bible is also full of incredible wisdom and guidance that is not always taught. Studying the Bible has been life changing.
