Starscream/Blitzwing ft. Megatron [shattered glass and burning plastic]

I'm not sure if this fully got the message across I was intending. Sort of a showcase of how I think what really stopped these two from ever being in solidarity was their different ways of reacting to Megatron. Because we all know Star was a kissup until he McFreakin Had It and went for the assassination route instead, and then, he was going to kiss up AGAIN but Megatron exiled him so he doubled down, and Blitz, well, he might make SCENES, but among the 'Cons, he doesn't make waves, and it's his being as inoffensive and opportunistic as possible that allows him to actually be better at kissing up. So when Megatron made it clear that anyone who agreed with Starscream would feel his wrath, Blitzwing just fawned and stayed on that side to avoid getting hurt, because abuse is kind of his life.
I realize the song is about something completely else - a relationship failing because one party won't stop endangering themselves with the wild life - but I'm like, if you make the "I'd die for you" lyric about Starscream commenting on Blitzwing's insistence on being loyal to the death to Megatron but for all the most insincere reasons, like, it works.
Even though this absolutely started because I heard the song during the fixation phase and I was like "It has vehicle metaphors; I have to be able to connect this SOMEHOW" and I bent over backward to fit a reading of it
Anyway, when I apply my "what if they liiiiiiked each other" filter to canon, then their canon story is just a tragedy, full stop. They coulda been pals at least. But Decepticon hierarchy is messed up and ascending the ranks is a heck of a drug, and everybody got way too caught up in playing that game to realize that the real villain fun shenanigans were the friends we made along the way.
Or maybe I'm just overthinking it and they don't give a fig about each other but that's just not very interesting, now, is it
(I will be using a certain crossover fanfic to resurrect Starscream, get both these weirdos in good with a better villain family, and patch their relationship up before advancing it to Lovers(TM). I may have, uh, already written ahead a few of their more emotional scenes because it was all I could focus on and now it means I wrote those at the height of my passion about the ship so they'll come out good once I brush them up in editing)
